Mayer is amazing. My overall favorite guitarist/artist. For those who don't know the drummer, it's Keith Carlock. He toured for a couple months with John.
I mean if you’re an experienced guitarist you really shouldn’t have to look at the fretboard much… your fingers kinda just end up where they need to be. And also if you know a guitar really well, you can feel the frets getting smaller and smaller and deduce where you are on the fretboard. I mean if you’re singing into a mic, you can’t be facing down and looking at your hands.
John Mayer is so underrated and I think it has to do with him being good looking for some reason people don't want to give credit to good looking musicians especially if they've had success and have real talent. If he was butt ugly or blind people would call him one of the all time greatest. That suxx but he doesn't have to prove himself anymore and he's gotten tons of hot chicks. But it's never enough for an artist bcuz we're so fckin insecure.
I wouldn't say he's under rated any more. He's well known for being a world class guitarist now. He's just envied from wanna be guitarists cause everyone knows most guitarists have egos.
still can't get over this version... I much prefer is slower like this, than the more upbeat rock version from BS... although, I LOVE the tone that he has on the record, I just tend to like this style better!
At last someone re-interpreting this classic without relying on the iconic Cream version as a template. I love Cream's version, but this version is very credible. Great playing that shows that the blues still has a place I the world of music in the 21st Century!
also, does anyone know what solo he's playing? I know i've heard it in a Stevie Ray song (almost, it seems, note for note) but I can't place the song....
0:16 magic trick with the pick!
Nothing but Respect. I grew up on the Cream's version, but this is surprisingly good.
Grew up about 20 miles from the actual crossroads where Robert Johnson they say sold his sole to the devil
Empty Arms!
He actually played that with double trouble at ACL at the start of his career... crazy!
@@3v3ryDayGam3r and it was beautiful
John's guitar solo was fucking glorious.
THET147 Agreed, straightforward and raw.

Also for those who didn't know, there's no reason why you shouldn't have known
The....?,.
He plays the entire solo literally with his eyes closed...
That's why you gotta work that muscle memory!
He said once he’s been playing it since forever
@@maziaralien1988 I noticed that the start is the solo in SRV's Empty Arms. So yeah he's been playing it since his teenage years

Just as tight as it must.

Sometimes the invited hitch hikers try and steer the boat. That's
why we say the St.Micharl lrahee. Even if uh I do y feel like it.
