One has to admit that John Mayer's phrasing is extremely tasteful. He's not just famous because he's attractive (though I'm sure that helps), he's a seriously talented guitar player.
I've seen both BB and SRV live, and they were great. I would say John Mayer is at their level now; the masses just haven't noticed yet. I'd rather listen to John Mayer tune up than listen to the supposedly brilliant Nobel Prize Winner, Bob Dylan.
Right on Marcella. He's been jamming with GD rhymn guistarist Bob Weir n the 2 drummers Mickey Hart n Bill K. (3 members of the Grateful Dead) with Oteil Burbridge on bass n Jeff C. on keys with their Dead Dead & company. Man, They have been fqukn gruvn 3 yrs now n getting better n tighter than ever. Check em on UA-cam.
He said the strangest thing is when I was child and playing guitar in my bedroom I used to pretend like I'm on stage and now I'm on the stage and I'm pretending like I am in my bedroom
There's the John I know and love. I have been watching him since he was a teenager playing at the foot of Beale st and Riverside drive at Memphis in May festivals. He is and always will be a BLUES BOY. I have heard ALOT of blues over the years. All the greats. But John has always been right up there with them even as a kid. He has only got better. Please play more blues John. I love your new and old stuff. But you are never better Than when you just cut loose and Play those blues from your soul. I just love it and you. Amen brother.
Not personally. Just as an artist that is fantasic. Like I said he played for years in Memphis and I have followed him. He is just a great blues guy . They can't take that away .
0:18 "let me get my groove on" throws pick, plays sexy slide, screws the riff up a bit, turns to the drummer for a laugh and gets right back to it un-phased. I love this man.
The perfect mix of his voice (don't need too much of that - but a bit is welcome)....but the CRAZY good guitar. JM + BB+ SRV = pure magic. Probably the best concert he has done. Not probably, for sure. He uses his voice just perfectly at the end.
fantastic. John Mayer has grown into who he was always meant to be, a highly talented rock, pop and blues singer and songwriter. I know he'll be considered one of the 90s and beyond's legends.
Props to JM for keeping it interesting and putting people's enjoyment of his concerts over the demand to only play his own music. That was an entirely original version and I wish he would have played in when I went in Denver! Rock on John Clayton Mayer!
He`s not the best singer of our times but the one of the best guitarist and songwriters for sure! He`s play and words of songs that he writes are like an emotional bomb..!
God I can't believe this is the only time I ever got to see Mayer live and he was unbelievable!!!! I was just getting into his music around this time and never thought it would be this long before another tour. Get well John!
I love this tune already, but JM has taken it to another level with Reggae styling, and his exceptional delivery. So entertaining. He's a master! He is the King ❣❣👑
I only like him now due to Dead and Company. I saw on one of those shows on their first tour that he was actually really damn good. Still can't dig his solo music
@TwoDot damn right he is, but the albums itself is a masterpiece and at least five songs from the studio album deserve to be listened to and enjoyed. Waiting on the world to change (studio version will always be peek John Mayer vocals as he himself said he could never reach the right notes for that song live again) vultures, bold as love studio version 30 second breakdown solo before hyping up again was just gorgeous. Waking up with a broken heart, stop this train
This was an incredible show. The weather outside most certainly added to being at the show. Along with assassin, and 3 by 5, this was the best song of the night.
The diffrence between a normal guitarist and a Great Guitarist is the soul and feeling you put into ur performance and instrument....This does what he does because he enjoys it ..That why he is so AWSOME!
John Mayer is absolutely mindblowing in concert, and thats just a plain fact. Most people see him as a softcore kind of pop-music playing queer and i did as well until I saw him play at the Hershey Park Stadium yesterday. Now I have the upmost respect for the guy. When I say this man can shred, I mean this man can SHRED!
@strattonsam It's Eric Clapton's Cream ES-335 Signature.. If you look closely it has the postage stamp on the back of the headstock.. All of the Cream ES-335's has the stamp. Its a exact recreation that Clapton played in Cream.. Beautiful guitar.
One has to admit that John Mayer's phrasing is extremely tasteful. He's not just famous because he's attractive (though I'm sure that helps), he's a seriously talented guitar player.
A.G. he’s pretty famous, but not as a guitar player
@@luciogaspar4064 What? He's literally considered by most to be one of the best guitar players of his generation
@@pretma317 yeah, but only guitarists recognize him as one
@@pretma317 im saying hes not famous as a guitarist, hes famous as a pop star
@@luciogaspar4064 very true. His audience's are 3/4s women with wet panties 🤣
Give him another 20 years, he"ll be an icon. Right up there with BB, SRV
+Marcella Miller lol
You got that right!
I've seen both BB and SRV live, and they were great.
I would say John Mayer is at their level now; the masses just haven't noticed yet.
I'd rather listen to John Mayer tune up than listen to the supposedly brilliant Nobel Prize Winner, Bob Dylan.
Indeed he is and a lot more versatile too in my opinion
Right on Marcella. He's been jamming with GD rhymn guistarist Bob Weir n the 2 drummers Mickey Hart n Bill K. (3 members of the Grateful Dead) with Oteil Burbridge on bass n Jeff C. on keys with their Dead Dead & company. Man, They have been fqukn gruvn 3 yrs now n getting better n tighter than ever. And 9 months later, there was a guitar born, that looked like John Mayer.
Dude hahaha made my day 😂
Matthew Malinowski touche 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
ROFL made my day
qhaha
Silversky
"ill get in my groove - hold on. mmmmmmmmmmmm"
brilliant.
followed by that slide😍😍😍
I love when he plays live he likes to just jam like hes in his bedroom
Dan Your sad man, really sad.
Jim Chumley it's a compliment dude
He said the strangest thing is when I was child and playing guitar in my bedroom I used to pretend like I'm on stage and now I'm on the stage and I'm pretending like I am in my bedroom
No one gonna talk about how perfectly the pick flew out his hand?
he sent that shit lmao
He's just so damn comfortable and relaxed with his guitar - it's as if it is a piece of his body.
+Marcella Miller drugs tend to do that
+mike albert , I agree with you. +planet0disturbia seems "disturbed"!
Maybe she's from a planet that does not appreciate virtuoso blues guitar. I wouldn't want to live there!
or maybe i live in a planet where the word realism means actually something.and yes blissfull ignorants don't belong here
+planet0disturbia I don't want what to do first. Correct your grammar or your spelling. Your thesis is not backed my logic.
This groove always hits the sweet spot
That solo tone sounds incredible!

Linda Williams you know him?
Not personally. Just as an artist that is fantasic. Like I said he played for years in Memphis and I have followed him. He is just a great blues guy .
They can't take that away .
This is hands down his best performance of this song. It's unbelievably organic, just pure magic. The person who shot the video deserves a medal too.
0:18 "let me get my groove on" throws pick, plays sexy slide, screws the riff up a bit, turns to the drummer for a laugh and gets right back to it un-phased. I love this man.
that was no screw up haha
I saw him do this in Indy -- my jaw dropped from watching him play one handed.
This song is a quintessential example of what a good guitar player John Mayer is, between the complex riff and the badass solo.
In some cases UA-cam should have an 'Addicted' button... this is one of those videos...
Its just great that theres still someone in the mainstream helping keep the blues alive.
So much BB king in this!
+Leon Lim Jake-Li - for sure! You can hear BB mixed with SRV - best combo ever!!
+Leon Lim Jake-Li don't forget SRV - you can hear his influence at 2:19
K, he's done a lot of covers of this classic. This is THE BEST! And I've heard 'em all.
The perfect mix of his voice (don't need too much of that - but a bit is welcome)....but the CRAZY good guitar. JM + BB+ SRV = pure magic. Probably the best concert he has done. Not probably, for sure. He uses his voice just perfectly at the end.
Any Given Thursday will always go down as my best
Andrew T Same. Covered in Rain is my favorite.
Where the light is?????
This cover is simply spectacular. Just wow. So much feel, flow and soul.

i love mayers version of this. he played it at crossroads a few days ago and i was blown away. what a groovy tune
I love all his stuff even it's not my jam but I wish he'd do more of this type of music.
He`s not the best singer of our times but the one of the best guitarist and songwriters for sure! He`s play and words of songs that he writes are like an emotional bomb..!
I could watch him do that all day!
Amazing falsetto near the end! Multi-talented!
yes yes he is playing that song like he wrote i it love it .
✨✨✨✨✨⚡️🎸⚡️✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻💕💕💕👍👏👏👏👏😁yesyesyes so darn great feeling listening to JM 🔥🔥
true
our kids and grandkids might see him as the BB King of their time.
Is it strange that I need to listen to this at least once daily???
MAYER mostrando aqui quão fantástico é. !!!!! Sem dúvida um intérprete e guitarrista com PESO QUANTO SWING !!!!!!
God I can't believe this is the only time I ever got to see Mayer live and he was unbelievable!!!! I was just getting into his music around this time and never thought it would be this long before another tour. Get well John!

I always come back to this.
Ouvir Mayer todos os dias é um verdadeiro calmante. A sua musicalidade e a sua voz faz bem à alma
What an artist
Oh gosh ...... Why he didn't play this songs in Montreal ? It's the best version of Ain't no sunshine EVER ! So sensual .....
Early in his career, I really wanted to dislike John Mayer (for stupid reasons...don't ask) , but he is truly an incredible musician
I only like him now due to Dead and Company. I saw on one of those shows on their first tour that he was actually really damn good. Still can't dig his solo music
Jack Dornbach come now listen to belief or helpless or the whole of continuum.
Jack Dornbach or all of born and raised. An absolute masterpiece.

the flow during the solo is just way too good... especially those poses: Santana of its kind.
they all hold back so well! holding back with feel... love the audio quality in this. Such a precious moment to get recorded.
This feels like a warm hug.
Oh. My. Gosh. Favourite artist, favourite song....genuinely feels like I'm in a dream right now.
GENIUS JOHNNY BOY THIS MAN GETS A PASS IN ANYTHING IN LIFE THE MUSIC HE PUT OUT TOUCHED AND MOVED MORE HEARTS THAN ANY HARM HE EVER DID
Amen lord bless you guys!
One of the best covers of this song by Mayer! His other versions of this are ok good too but this one takes the cake!
so great, so smooth, so chilly, so energetic, so JM!
is there a loop button for youtube? I think this is the 7th time I've hit the rewind button manually after the clip ended.. still not sick of it
+Michael Xz Check out the other versions from Crossroads and Red Rocks. Totally insane
+Michael Xz - you'll never get sick of it, neither will I, his falsetto at the end is brilliant. But it his guitar that speaks for his soul
nah it's the funky red lighting lol :D ok yeah its the playing...
dude, he killed it. man, what great improvisation....
I just want to thank you for filming this performance and many others, thanks bro!
i just love your video, and..... john mayer, obviusly, perfect
This was an incredible show. The weather outside most certainly added to being at the show. Along with assassin, and 3 by 5, this was the best song of the night.
His guitar tone is sick!
The diffrence between a normal guitarist and a Great Guitarist is the soul and feeling you put into ur performance and instrument....This does what he does because he enjoys it ..That why he is so AWSOME!
damn!!! talk about a solo with feeling!!! shivers down my spine... you go mayer!!!!!
I think he had a guitargasm all over that thing...
nice
..I hope that guitar was 18...
Jorge Velasquez 😂 made my night
Jorge Velasquez hahaha
Jorge Velasquez that's what I said at 1:40 ! Like damn John you trying to make little John guitar babies? 😂😂😂😂😂
great song, great performance, great artist
Mad-ass guitar riffs really ! Love love love!!
Solo was about 2 lovers arguing back and forth.
nice analogy
this song combined with this artist = HOLY SHIT I LOVE IT.
Amazing quality! Thanks a lot!
this is amazing quality dude
He's amazing!! God Bless JM
Unbelievable! He did this one in Boston too, but this took it to the next level. This vid epitomizes why I love him to death!
How could you not feel this?!
I didnt like this guy before. This is awesome
How often do you catch yourself smiling like u are listening to this

Why would anyone dislike this video? What the hell is wrong with people nowadays.
I love Bill Withers and I LIKE JOHN MAYER!
JM at the Garden.. is there a better place he can perform? gotta love this!
I don't like the phrase "raped that guitar". It implys the guitar didn't want it to happen.
