    Good info! Your husband is a dream for sharpening your cutting blade! Will keep this in mind! If ONLY Husqvarna Viking machines were made in Sweden again! They were so much more reliable! Since being bought by Singer, they are now combining features of Singer, Pfaff, and Viking to make hybrid machines, and the Singer features included are troublesome.....like the cutters. The Pfaff features are wonderful. Happy sewing!

    Thank you! I was about to give in and ship off my machine. The only problem I’ve ever had is this bobbin thread false alarm. I messed with the cutter before, but I’m going to look for a nick and perhaps change the blade. Thank you for taking the time to upload this.

    Sorry for your issues. I have had a few HV machines over the years and was able to purchase a Ruby Royale gently used through eBay a couple months ago. When I had owned Sapphire 930, I was always having issues with the cutter. Then I found a vid on UA-cam (prob the one you mentioned) as to how to clean it. It seemed to do the trick. So far no major issues with my Ruby but I’ve had to get the needle bar assembly replaced because I stripped the screw that holds the needle because Schmetz needles kept falling out....I was very worried about sending my machine and having it come back worse but knock on wood, the HV repair guy has a good reputation around here. I hope to one day own an Epic. Good luck to you and your future sewing/embroidery/quilting endeavors.

    I have a Designer Diamond Royale, and I bet the cutter is essentially the same on that machine as well - so thank you for this!

    I found your post and you tube yesterday. My machine is doing the very exact same thing as what your machine is doing. I can’t seem to get help because of cov-d every thing is shut down. As far as I know we have no one close to service my machine. All I need is the blade or the blade with the case. Some one posted a link to purchase a blade. I did follow the link but it’s not compatible with the blade on the Epic. I am disappointed and as upset as you are because I paid all that money for my machine and I can’t get help. I turned off my cutter and I can use my machine that way, but I have to snip each thread myself. I will do a follow up post when I can figure something out. Thank you for making your video.

    Just a heads up. You can get small carpet blades to replace the blade. They are significantly sharper

    This also applies to new Pfaff machines...same exact bobbin/hook/cutter mechanism. In fact, the one-way bobbins on the machines (can't be loaded the wrong way, only go in with the logo facing up) are interchangable. My dealer was out of Pfaff bobbins for my Quilt Expression 4.0 and instead sold me a box of Husqvarna Viking bobbins for the Sapphire and newer machines. Other than the little crowned "H" logo having to face up instead of the "PFAFF" logo/wordmark, I can not tell a difference...they wind and sew the same.

    does anyone know what size screw is on that little arm he is moving that brings the thread back to cut

    Why does it look like there is still a bunch of fuzz where the blade housing is? Why didn't you remove it?

    • @rjrubicon
      @rjrubicon 2 роки тому

      That little fluff is there to help keep bobbin thread lint from getting to the cutter. I cannot be removed, btw

      @@rjrubicon I know there is supposed to be a piece of black fuzzy in front of the blade be the 1st machine looks like like Don Kings eyebrows! I also see a lighter fuzzy along the top. I always look at it from the back to make sure it is really clean. Sometimes I use a toothbrush to clean that little fuzzy part to make it black again.

    Hi there and this helped tremendously. I was cleaning my machine (Viking Sapphire 930); it looks like yours also. Anyway, I noticed a blade sitting in the bobbin case which I hadn't before. From your video, the blade cutter is still in tact and, there is a blade in there. My question is where does this other blade go. If you can, reply to me by email lamagic@rcn.com. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong but I'm wondering where this extra blade goes and comes from. Thank Dian!

    you can buy the blades from Husqvarna, they are quite cheap, all you pop the old one out and insert a new one,

    • @DianChapman
      @DianChapman  5 років тому

      We TRIED to buy them. We called the HQ office, since I was dealing with them directly after I sent my detailed (link above) article about the problems. But they said NO. Do you have a link to prove this purchase? I KNOW how easy it is to take them out and put them in, but as I said, HV refused to sell us new blade devices.
