    So, a lady in the neighborhood had me do this job for her. I am very impressed with the work you did getting this kit together and the biggest help was the drawn diagram. I will see if I botched the job tomorrow when I have her test the machine. Getting the machine apart was actually harder than getting it back together. The machine that I worked on required a #10 torx driver and a #25 Torx driver for the screws that I had to remove. Others might find this information handy.

      @CRice-ln8lm 3 роки тому

      So, the owner came by, and I had swapped two cables for the switch panels on the area above the presser foot. I swapped them and it took off fine. It is easier to remove the back panel if you loosen all the screws that hold the bottom support to the machine body first before attempting to remove the back panel. Be advised that the hinges for the front top door will be a PITA for you as you go along. If you don't remove that swinging cover you will be ahead. It holds those swivel pieces in place.

    Thanks for video. I was asked to look at a friend's machine and they had the flashing light symptoms. Following your lead I went in and checked all the capacitors on the power supply and main board. In my case the power supply was perfectly fine (note this is a 24V DC power supply for those that might test it) but I found several caps on the main board that were not fully failed but were out of spec by quite a bit. Replace the 6 caps on the main board and the machine powers on just fine now. Will let her test it and make sure but it's at least better off than it was. Appreciate the video and thanks for the guidance.

    Excellent video. I have the same machine but the USB quite sowing the content of the USB stick. It acknowledges the stick is there but does not show what is on the stick. The files are in the correct format (VP3). Should and can the ports be replaced?

    I got the kit and successfully fixed my wife's Designer SE. Thanks for the video! Is capacitor failure as common on other brands & models? I have a friend with a dead Brother PR600-2 6 needle embroidery machine. The circuit boards for that machine have been discontinued too. Is it worth trying the cap replacement there as well?

    I packed my Designer SE back into its shipping box and put it onto the shelf for several years. It was working fine when I packed it away, with very few hours (less than 100) of on time. Just unboxed it and plugged it in. It’s doing the flashing lights like the machine in this video about 60% of the time when I turn it on. Is it possible the capacitors went bad when the machine was boxed up or is it possibly something else? Thanks for any advice you can offer

    I have my flip top lid drop its hinge screw (s) and now the flat arm of hinge down inside. I want to open up machine back cover to retrieve and replace wish your video went slower,but my question is , once inside there is there any area of which needs any oiling or greasing before I close it up or do I just dust n vacuum and call it a day ?

    My Designer SE suddenly stopped embroidering, The Husqvarna dealer told me it couldn’t be repaired, I’m assuming because the parts come from China aren’t available. Is this true or can you give me hope? Otherwise it sews fine.

    My wife’s machine died , I don’t know if the lights were flashing. we sent it to a repair shop they say it needs a motor and a PC board we’re looking at $850 for repairs. I can solder the capacitors in but I’m not sure that’s going to fix her machine. Any suggestions?

    what causes all 12 capacitors to expire at once on hundreds of machines only 12 years old? Will it happen again once they are replaced?

    • @SewingMachineRepairGuy
      @SewingMachineRepairGuy  4 роки тому +3

      Most likely only one is bad. It is not easy to determine which one without pulling them off. At that point just replace them all. Also, capacitors do go bad over time. Take a look at the vintage computer community. It is common to "re-cap" older computer boards.

    Have you ever done any board repair on a Platinum 750? I have one that is essentially new, but when you first turn it on and press the foot pedal you get a couple of slow motion needle strokes, and then it sews normally. Does it every time when you first start it up.

    My machine keeps stopping and saying the thread is broken but it is not. I push the 'ok' button and it will sew a few stitches and stop again with the same message. Otherwise it sews perfectly. What's up with that? Thanks. When I remove all thread and run the machine unthreaded, I get no error message. only when it is threaded.

    Hi, it sound like you know what your talking about with these machines. So by chance do you know how to fix this problem I have with my 20 year old Husqvarna Viking Designer 1 embroidery/sewing machine. I had it in you spare room for 2 years and now I go to use it and sewing part works, but the embroidery part tells me I have the wrong hoop attached to the arm. I know I have the right hoop as the floppy I am using is one given me when I purchased the machine. Thank You for any help :)

    so, when it flickers like that, what is the actual problem? what parts are you actually replacing? in the video it looks like you are replacing the whole insides. Please clarify. This is sad..In order to fix the problem you have to solder things? could it be just needing a new power supply cord?

    • @SewingMachineRepairGuy
      @SewingMachineRepairGuy  4 роки тому +1

      Replacing all the capacitors on the board and power supply. A new power cord will not fix this problem.

    I have a Viking Ruby, and today in the middle of doing an embroidery, it just stopped and powered itself off and then back on again. In trying to figure out why it was doing this, I discovered that if the speed of embroidery OR sewing mode was more than the slowest speed, the machine would power off and back on again. Do you think this could also be due to faulty capacitors? Thanks for any help you can provide!!!

Taking it apart is way my above my abilities so I was wondering if you know of anyone in the Tampa Bay area that could do this for me.
