      So, no response to my comment. Silence speaks volumes.
      And this reel has disappeared from their, and Amazon's websites.
      A true sealed saltwater budget reel that recently came out is KastKing's Kapstan Elite spinning reel. I bought one (in 3000-size) and it is heads and shoulders above this piece of ____. Go check it out and do a video review on it.

    I used to keep the plastic wrapping on my rod handles, until I realized that the cork was rotting and falling apart under the plastic after I would wash down the rods. One handle only lasted about 6 months before entire chunks fell out. I noticed your rod also has wet spots under the plastic wrap. It’ll last a 10 times longer without the plastic wrap! Thanks for the information! Tight lines!

    I been using this reel for the last 2years and it has held excellent so far. Purchased it as soon as it came out. Once I saw it was sealed. I Mainly use it for pier fishing and it has caught several stripe bass and blue fish. Some togs as well. I think this reel is one the best that has came out of piscifun. Thanks Jason

    Sounds like a good reel but one of my concerns is that it doesn’t have an IPX rating. Also, are ball bearings stainless steel and shielded or sealed? What materials are the internal gears? I’m assuming they’re big zinc gears like the Daiwa BG. But if they were brass or stainless steel that would be huge. Anyway sometimes these things don’t matter too much anyway if it does a good job of preventing elements from getting inside. One reel that is not too much more is the Shimano Spheros and the Penn Spinfisher. Spheros is IPX 8 and Spinfisher is IPX5 but has brass gears and sealed stainless steel bearings. I do like that the Alloy X comes in smaller sizes and that they’re light reels

    Great video! Three questions:
    Is the handle reversable? And if not, is there a lefty version? Why is so much line capacity important?

    • @phytobedo
      @phytobedo  2 роки тому

      Yes the handle is reversible.
      Line capacity is important if you’re catching a big fish from land, and they make a long run. Let’s say you’re catching a tarpon or huge jack from the beach. It may run 200 plus yards before it slows down.

    Hate to break it to you, but none of Piscifun's reels are sealed or have sealed bearings. Based on your videos, I went and bought 3 of these reels in different sizes. I got the 5000-size for surf-fishing, and after my second outing, I started hearing grinding coming from the reel. Not sure where it's coming from, but I suspect it's coming from the line roller bearing. (Edit: it couldn't be the line roller bearing as it makes this grinding sound when I turn the handle without reeling in any line at all.)
    Also, I had a back-and-forth email conversation with their customer service, and she basically said none of their reels are made for saltwater fishing, and that includes the Alloy M baitcaster, which I also bought 2 of based on your videos. Furthermore, I asked the CS rep if they had sealed bearings they could sell me to replace the ones in these reels. She never got back to me on that. Not worth the money I spent on these to use for saltwater, but I can use them for freshwater.

    • @phytobedo
      @phytobedo  Рік тому

      Not sure what to tell you. It says on their website the alloy m and alloy x are saltwater reels. (Although I don’t see the Alloy X right now, maybe they stopped selling it 🤷‍♂️.
      They also told me personally that it’s a fully sealed reel. I’m still using both of my Alloy X’s without any problems.
      They don’t pay me and I don’t have any allegiance to Piscifun. It’s been a good reel for the price for me.

    Just got my reel and the only issue was the reel wasn't spooling correctly...was spooling towards the bottom even when I took off all the shims...not sure if there was something wrong with the spool itself because my friend has one which spooled perfectly...but piscifun customer service has been fantastic and super responsive and are sending me a replacement....one other word of caution since I was trying to figure the spooling issue is that it will be hard to open this reel out to even oil...it uses a star screw which seems tiny on the main drive...but I guess this is the price you pay for the security of having a sealed reel... definitely lightweight considering its specs....

    I’ve always hated spending large amounts of money for durable good solid reels. (Shimano Twin Power, etc) While I love my Shimano reels, I hate their price tags. Watching a couple of your videos on Piscifun, it makes me want to give them a try. They seem like amazing reels at an amazing price. Especially for saltwater. Question for you: How does the casting feel compared to your other high end reels in terms of casting distance, wind knots, and smoothness? Hope to hear from you. You’ve earned yourself a subscriber! I enjoy your thorough reviews!

      The Alloy X casts great. The only thing that remains to be seen is how long they hold up compared to higher end reels. So far so good.

      @@phytobedo from what I’ve read, they use the same oem factory in China as Daiwa. Makes sense. That’s why their quality is great.

    Piscifun needs to be made to understand the bushings are not bearings and that not all bearings are equal. The idea that this is a fully sealed reel is farcical and this review is little more than click bait. The world of fishing is flooded by these cheap imposter manufacturers that simply market a nice looking $10 reel and sell it as a sealed $100 reel. They replace problematic reels without any problem as they make a ridiculous margin. If it sounds too good to be true, than it is.

      Idk dude, I bought the carbon X a little over a year ago and paired it with their serpent rod and it is absolutely phenomenal. Used it in salt and fresh water, never cleaned it, just right out abused it and not only has it stood the test of time but it’s as smooth as it was the day I got it.
