- Hundreds of you commented that I needed to try King's Burger in San Jose, CA... However, you also commented that I needed to be careful as it wasn't the best part of town.
That being said - this place is AMAZING and I have NOTHING but love for the East Side of San Jose, CA.
Let me know in the comments about other Hidden-Gem burgers that I need to try!

This area was dangerous in the late 90's early 2000's when there were a lot of surenos in the area and they'd fight with local Nortenos. Now and days there are mostly just paisas and Northerners who all get a long for the most part. I was born and raised in SJ and I'm old now so I know what's up in San Jo.
Nice! Well I love East SJ... and this place was amazing!
@@UnchartedFoodie It is pretty delicious 😋🤤
This is an accurate statement
Haha yeah the poco st sureños
Lived here my whole life, this sums it up really accurately
Anyone scared of San Jose needs to leave the Bay Area
Compared to Oakland, San Jose is PG rated.
@@Ammobucketfr
Tell them to move to oakland, its safer there.
Love them both. Any big city I ever visited has an underserved area. The real gangsters I watch are shady ass real estate teams.
Anywhere theres "DARKNESS" is DANGEROUS....
Darkness from Oakland make SJ and SF full of Crime and Violence
Without Darkness, this place would be Safe and Thriving because of United Family Oriented and Hard Working People
😂 i’m in tears it’s a bad part of town yet you could sit down and eat comfortably whatever bruh one ☝🏾 time for San Jose Respect
I mean not everyone walking down the street of a dangerous neighborhood gets pressed like that. It could be dangerous for a multitude of reasons.
@@MRDYNAMITEDAWGI'm willing to bet the people in the neighborhood just LOOK different from him thus that makes it "dangerous".
To Tyre 3999, The only thing *dangerous* there -- is the *heart attack on a plate!*
@@Ric0806no it’s east San Jose this spot is between old hoods you won’t have any problems if your a regular citizen but if your all banged out wearing red or blue the worst that would probably happen is you getting jumped but yeah it’s not really dangerous just has gang activity
Thank you for highlighting this place. Will check it out.
Hope you like it!
Carlos, another smoking spot you need to try is Amatto’s on Saratoga Ave. in the border of San Jose and Campbell I believe.
They have the best Philly cheese steak sandwiches there.
Also, a great taco place is Tacos de Oro off of 1st street in Alviso.
How about super tacos in Gilroy?
Great video. I live in Morgan Hill but Im in San Jose a lot. Im going to try that place for sure. Thanks for the review
Thank you!! I live in MH too!!
Great viideo review. One request, can you show the menu. You focused on yourself in the shot after asking what is the most popular burger, #4, or a #5. What was a #4? What was the #5? What was in the burger that made it so good? What kind of burger was it? The audience never saw the menu to determine what you ate.
Great feedback! Should have said what they were at least! I realized after the fact that I didn’t film the menu 🙈🙈
Ever heard of Yelp ? Just look at the menu there. 🤯
@@theathjr you are so incredibly brilliant. I bet you own half of California. You go dude and give yourself a star!
It's funny... he's looking around like the opps are looking for him!
OK.. I pass this everyday on the way home and wondered about that place.. will have to try a good ole burger
Nice!!!
Dari delite is such a good mom and pop shop for burgers and shakes
The one in Morgan Hill?
@@UnchartedFoodie yup
Good Review....born early fifties ...lived in San Jose until 2003....we always avoided some areas but a lot of East San Jose was very nice....we lived in the Eastern Foothills
Nice! And thank you!
Born and raised in San Jose. Left at 4 years ago at the age of 38. Seen this place hundreds of times but never stopped there. Damn!
Need to!!!
Great video.Back in the 80's and 90's there was lots of cruising on King & Story; but unfortunately there were lots of rival gangs in that area. Its no where close to being as bad as it was back then; however, its not as fun and lively either.
Thanks for the recommendation. Raised on the east side, moved away 20+ years ago, never tried this place before but it’s on the list now. Try Mark’s hot dogs 👍🏼
Mark's is an institution! Our parents used to take us there when it was on Alum Rock Avenue, and the parking lot was pea gravel. The hot dogs still taste the same. Whenever I'm in SJ, and have a moment, I'll head to Mark's.
You need to try St. John's bar and grill in Sunnyvale, Its awesome!
People keep saying this!!
It's decent but nothing special.
I feel like St John’s isn’t as good as it used to be pre-pandemic. It’s not the same anymore
My 82 year old grandma works there! She a dishwasher and she loves it!
Dude, I love St. John's ! Go on a Wednesday , half off burger night .
Huge fan of king burger! Agree with your assessment completely. Thanks for pointing out local eats in San Jo!
So good! Thank you for watching!!
The food is good, but I haven't been there in years since we saw an older man there slap his wife around for sweeping. None of the workers cared when he shoved her to the back, and all you can hear is slapping sounds. They only made him stop when we were calling the police
Orale Baja Mexican Restaurant - Great Fish Burritos. You can choose from Tilapia, Salmon, Red Snapper, Breaded Cod, or Shrimp. Their orange sauce is really good as well.
Amato's Cheesesteaks - Get a shorty as their half and whole is way to big. Besides the works cheese stakes I also get their Chicken Parmesan sandwich.
Bertucelli's La Villa Gourmet - Their Ravioli is great but definitely get the Chris Combo sandwich. When the 49ers found out about this sandwich I believe they said they wont go to a game without eating one.
A Slice of New York - Great pizza you can get by the slice.
Hunan Taste Restaurant - Ate here all the time when i worked near by. Their Curry Chicken over rice is so delicious. So is their Meat Pie.
Shout out from Sactown! Good video. It feels professional and yet still personal. Kept my attention the whole time too.
Love it!! Thanks for the feedback!
“Most Dangerous “ great click bait
No way Jose.
Right?! He and @LATRYGUY should switch "dangerous" locations. 😉

I finally had an opportunity to drive down to San Jose after a long day of errands (including a smog check) yesterday, and I looked through my Google Maps "Want to go" restaurants that I saved, and happened upon King's Burger from watching this video 3 months ago.
I made the drive on my newly repaired car to keep testing the starter I replaced by myself earlier that morning, and man, was the drive worth it. I drove 36 minutes back home and tried that #4 burger, and dang, the piles of hot meat and melted cheese, that juice and grease really satisfied my errand hunger! The chicken teriyaki plate was all right, though. Of course, the burgers are what the restaurant is best known for.
Thank you so much for recommending this place. Although it's far, I am willing to go try them again if I'm in the area!
I used to go to this place all the time when I was little
Love that!! It was so good!!
great video again bro love the style
Thank you so much!!
I saw the thumbnail and was like "Hey that kind of looks like that joint by the Tropicana" and I've never been so happy to click a random foodie video on my frontpage. I've never been to this joint myself but now I've got something to look forward to next time I'm in SJ again
Personally, I be out there from time to time and drop by for some grub. 🔥🙏🔥 Most of Cambodians grew up in that area and the apartments. FYi: King Burger was established in 1987.”
Thank you for sharing, Carlos!

my grandma used to always go to this with kid me when she was still alive.. such nostalgic memories 😢
I’ve been in San Jose all my life and always drove by this place and never tried it lol. I will give them a shot.
Yes!!!!
One of my favorite burgers growing up in the 60’s was from Orange Julius . Everyone went there for their drinks but their burgers were great !
Dang! Never tried them!
It used to be more dangerous when gangs were more active… now it’s dangerous because everyone drives crazy ha. Be careful not to leave things in plain view tho.. Glad u tried this spot one of my favorite!
I’ve worked in the Eastside for 7 years now and it’s not like I was told before I started working there.
I grew up there in the 60s and 70s. Most of the folks who live there are good people, just trying to make a decent life for themselves and their kids.
I pass this all the time since you say it's the best I'll be going to it🤘🤘
Heck yes!!
“That’s a Bomb egg roll”-I felt that
Hahahaha
Yeah it's dangerous at night. I live on the next street over but I love this place.
It’s so good!!!
Carlos the giggle after the first bite told it all!!! Tremendous!!!
Hahahahah yup!!
I gotta try it when I get back to home town. SJ OG, who grew up in the east side! 1976!
Nice!!!!
I used to live 5 blocks away, yes it's in the east side but safe enough to eat ate. Just as safe as down town. I love the number 11 with cheese that place been there for 40 years or more. You can order it on doordash now
Thats nice yhat you showcase local Mom and Pop business's
Love them!!!
as a vegetarian... you're making this place look good as hell lmaoo
Hahahha
That was my mom and my dad behind you 😮they love that place😊that place is sooooo good.
No way!?!?
I've visited King's Burgers for lunch on average once a month for a couple of years now and I've never had a problem. I can't think of a single instance when there wasn't a family with young kids dining there, or even older folks over 50. Like any place that serves the public, there will be troublemakers. But I personally haven't experienced any. Good burgers!
Looks good. I lived in San Jose many years, and I know a good chunk of it like the back of my hand. I kind of have a bias towards Kirk's being the best burgers. But I would check this place out. SJ actually has a lot of great places to eat. As far as dangerous, I know east side has a reputation, but after living in Oakland for the last 8 years, I have seen way worse than that area.
There is a good burger joint in east Oakland called Hegen Burger, which is right on Hegenberger Rd by the airport. I used to love to go there, but the neighborhood just got way too dangerous to bother with it, even during the day. No burger is THAT good.
East Side is full of hidden jems. I laughed when you said whole in the wall. That oerfectly describes it.I don't know about dangerous though.
It’s amazing!
I was skeptical when I moved to san jose , but its a classic buger that good . Nothing fancy but.i enjoy the old shool bugers
So so good!!
Grew up in East San Jo. I remember when that used to be a Dairy Delite back in the day.
Sadly, since I live in Las Vegas Nevada, it will not be easy for me to try that special food! I must make a special effort to visit! Thank you for the introduction! Very soon!
If it's not too far out the way, Jack's in Santa Cruz is the burger spot in SC.
Oh yeah?!
I remember going there with my family when I was kid and lived in Poco Way Apartments
Love it!!!
Reminds me of this spot in my home town that was in a real shady part of the city - my time growing up there I personally saw a dude get stabbed and drop and another dude run in and was being chased by a dude with a machete. The irony was the name- “Cozy Corner” lol nothing cozy about that corner at all!!!
Dang!!!
You in SJ? You have to try Jubba. It’s a place you will never accidentally go to as it’s almost a maze to find the strip mall it’s in.
Get the number 7 on the lunch menu, a Sambosa, a Minasi, your drink of choice, and some of the free chai from the dispenser at the back of the store.
If you want to run the menu, then also get some Chicken Kay Kay , the wrap of your choice, and some Goat over rice. But bring some friends, because that’s four meals.
The Stand in Sunnyvale is a musttt!
I live on this side of town and have lots of good places to eat
Orient Express on Alum Rock
Good food cheap and try their Orange Chicken and House chicken the best.
Pizza Kongs on White Road New York style.
Also, for carnitas, El Rinco
You will thank me later.
Thanks for the tips!
Try the Quesadilla Al Pastor at El Grullense across from Costco on MiddleField Rd in RC
I live down the street from there, I never had eaten there, but I go to the gas station next door to collect donated clothes from the two green bins that say texgreen! I'm the driver but still never ate at kings burgers and I bet the soda is watered down like every where else
Might I recommend Mac's Old House in Antioch. It has been a Gem here for many years.
Sounds awesome!!!
Dangerous? Some squares from across town must've told you that. I'm glad you had a good, safe experience.
Clickbait title. When we lived in the area, my family and I would regularly go shopping at Cardenas next door and pick up chicken for lunch. We had one of my kid's birthday parties at Emma Prusch Farm across the street from it!
I used to work at the Burbank Theater and would stop by there often to get something to eat on my way to work. I really enjoyed their food until I walked in to pick up my order and my car was stolen right out of the parking lot.
I'm sorry we apologize we needed it more than you
King road is not that bad nowadays, not like in the 80's and 90's. It's tame compared to some parts of Oakland. I drive in that area sometimes and I never had any problems. I'll have to try King's Burger the next time I'm over there.
One of my favorite spots when I use to live in the east side
Yes!!!
The ceiling in the burger stand looked more dangerous if anything.
LOL yeah?
Driving around King and Story is the dangerous part, many drivers don't have car insurance. I avoid the area because the drivers.
Yup Kings burger is the best spot in East Side San Jose been going there since I was 4 till now never disappoint
🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Love this place! Their bacon sandwich imo is on par with their burgers. Might just stop there today for a burger, quick minute drive from my house to Kings Burger.
Dear Mac, Try to walk it off going there!
Let me take one bite then proceed to take two bites in one😂😂😂
😜😜😜
I live in the East side and need to try this place. I've always wondered about this place but always passed by when its closed

@@UnchartedFoodie stuff is the key word
They have a good variety of food
Betty’s is fantastic. +1
St John’s isn’t as good as it used to be before the pandemic.
Kirk’s is overrated now. It was good when it was called Grill Em. -1
For a restaurant review, it would've been nice to show the menu
Yeah my total bad on that one… after leaving realized I never filmed the full menu 🙈
Ummm, surely you could look it up on yelp, no? 🤔
@@nikip9161 I'm not the 1 reviewing the restaurant, am I ?
Super burger in gilroy. Hole In the wall with great tasting burgers
I need to go check this place out !!!
Yesssss
bro you are a rising star!!!
Hahaha thank you! Love highlighting these places!!
Damn I live like down the street from this place but have never tried it since it felt too ghetto, Look like I'll give it a shot! Thanks!
Let me know what you think!$
We tried it months ago wasn’t a good as people think. Just okay. Not in San Jose but Kirk’s in campbell hands down the winner. Been going there for about 45 years
THX ... When we slide down south we will hit that spot! 100
Yesssss
my friends family used to own this place lol
No way!?
@@UnchartedFoodie yea to be honest they still might just haven't talked to them in a while
Best burgers in the 90's were dairy belle before in & out 😁 we always had the best burrito spots that opened late on story & king! That taqueria had everybody going there regardless of sets. We was cool cuz we all had to eat so we didn't set trip. Best egg roll back then was king egg roll off Lundy & berryessa by the old flea market.
I've been there many times on my lunch breaks at work and I've never noticed that it is a dangerous area. I also don't even live in San Jose, my job takes me all around Northern California, but there is nothing to me that suggests it is in "the hood" or anything else. Just a normal burger joint.
Lol Dangerous? Brah I'm from San Jose. This area you're fine. The area has become more fancy than anything now.
It was awesome!! And I love the east side!
@@UnchartedFoodie With houses past $2 million these days, there aren't any bad places in San Jose anymore; not like it was just 15 years ago. Even East San Jose is decent, and they're extending the light rail out there on Capitol Expressway.
I remember when critics used to try to go unnoticed
As a native to that specific area and owing some of my pounds to this specific restaurant 😁😁😁
I wanna say the burgers used to taste better
Not the restaurants fault
Meat quality has changed everywhere price and demand makes a diff too
So this family owned restaurant does what it can to survive I am sure
But regardless of Taste
They can take my money any day I am in the area...
I am 42 and been going their since I was a child ...
Well said
Born and raised on story and King Road. Went to school at Overfelt high school. Very familiar with that place. Right next-door to pink elephant.
Torta Vos voni in mission Street SF excelsier district Cuban torta huge amd flavor full across the street where they play pool
🙌🏼🙌🏼
JJ Burgers in San Juan Bautista has got to be one of the best hole in the wall Burger joints around. King Burger is good though.
that #4 combo burger looks phuckin' SLAMMING, fries look good too ---zzler I think the bus drives by this place fasho when I go to the {408} FR
You need to tell us what kind/description of the burger. I would guess a double cheese burger? Also price points??? Need to up your game.
Moved out here in 2014 Kings burger was my go to after calling off from la desvelada no one talks about the Asians listening to Los temerarios though !
I recommend big worms bakery in Stockton California, Its not the bay but its also not far from it. I always order the hei hei fries
In the 80s and 90 it was dangerous, but now homes are over a milllion and rent is crazy. Only things dangerous there now are distracted drivers and Tesla autodrive.
Hahahaha
Sam's burgers n pizza in San Francisco. Broadway, in between Chinatown and North Beach
Good stuff!?
Oh yeah Eastridge mall was crackin back in the day
Kings burger has different variety of food. Not just burger and fries they also have Asian rice plates.
The rice plates are SO GOOD!!!
I go eat there when I visit my family in san jose really good burgers, You really got nothing to worry about unless you are looking for trouble then you will find it.
I actually live by this place and I have no idea that a place like this existed. I'll try it out I guess.
You want great egg rolls? Go to King egg roll in SJ!! S
Yeah? Good stuff?
I'm a long way from where I use to be. Passed by many times, but never set foot.
It used to be dangerous, I used to walk down back in 09 and always get into something with foos, a lot different now
San Jo has a bunch of good spots to eat. I used to eat here a bunch when I was there!
Eastside! Grew up there in the 60's/70's/80's.. Nothing dangrous about it.
Just hard working families who speak a different language at home. 😎
Best thing there is the chicken teriyaki sandwich it’s amazing
Ooooo need to try it!!
