3 Frugal Soups | The Winter Pantry
Вставка
- Опубліковано 31 січ 2022
- Join me for three soups that can be made with simple pantry ingredients! These are on the frugal side because 2 of the recipes use water instead of broth as well as cheaper cuts of meat. The last soup uses up winter squash that you may still have in storage. These are simple and can easily be tweaked to fit your needs. Enjoy!

Nothing beats soup with bread on a winter's night! The chicken and dumplings looked delicious, you've got me craving some now!
The soups all looked so divine and I particularly loved how you paired each of them with a special home-canned fruit. What a beautiful space you’ve created here 🤍
Thank you kindly! 🥰🤍✨

Oh Kaetlyn, this was so well timed! I was just about to start a pot of soup as we are having our first big freeze here in Texas. Thank you for the lovely video!

I went on a mad soup-making spree last week. Started with red chili, then did a hamburger soup, and then made potato soup- twice! Soup is my favorite food, PERIOD.
The vlog that we didn’t know we need!!! So aesthetically beautiful 😍
Thank you!! ❤
I hope you will keep your you tube channel here Katelyn?? I so love to go back and watch your videos, they are so calming and the food is so natural, simple and looks delicious. Many blessings to you and the upcoming birth of your wee baby too x . God has surely blessed you !! ~ Linda
The chicken with dumplings soup is absolutely delicious and just 3 ingredients plus the dumplings, truly comfort food ❤️
Hi Kaetlyn, just wanted to give praise about your sourdough starter! I’d never made sourdough bread and, admittedly, I was a bit skeptical of your dehydrated sourdough starter. However, I received on a Saturday and had the most beautiful and delicious loaf of bread on Monday 😁. Now I cannot stop baking with it and I highly recommend. God bless!
Wow!! This makes me so happy. Thank you Susan! I'm really glad to hear that :) God bless you!
When folks ask me what my favorite food is, I always tell them it's soup. I LOVE SOUP. It's simple, cheap, nutritious, and there is so many variations! Every culture has it in some form or other, and it's good ANY time of year.
These are great use of pantry staples!
Love the scripture. Two thumbs up.
A combination of melted butter and honey poured over the cornbread would make it less dry. Yummy!
They are beautiful in their simplicity and in the love and care you provide to yourself and others through their nourishment. ♥️
Thank you 🥰
I think your soups are beautiful. I grew up living as you are currently. We had a larder full of everything - root vegetables, canned fruits and vegetables, meats, everything. We survived long cold winters, moreover we thrived. I know my family was truly blessed. 🙏❤️ Thank you for sharing your life.
Aww that is wonderful. Thank you so much!
Your vintage/rustic aesthetic is amazing and something I look to emulate. Also the soups look delicious
I love making soup on a cold winter's day! I have filled pepper soup in the slow-cooker as we speak, with homemade oatmeal bread! I'm definitely going to try some of these!

@@quietintheland You’re Welcome
If u have meat, esp fatty meat, u can make an awesome soup! Bones skin and all=flavor.
I put ham hocks in our beans every time if possible.
I will have to try the sourdough dumplings! I have to eat GF but have found that I can tolerate sourdough easily! Thanks for the beautiful recipes!
I am the same way when it comes to gluten! Thank you so much 🤍✨
Yummy~~ I didn't know to add vinegar when soaking legumes, will begin to do so. The height on your biscuits is spectacular! I usually make baked apples for dessert when we have split pea soup. Squash and sausage soup is on our weekend menu, thanks for sharing.
Wow! That sounds delicious. I've never tried baked apples, but I need to. Different beans need different neutralizers. So, kidney-shaped beans like kidneys, pintos, limas, etc should be soaked with baking soda while *non*kidney-shaped beans like chickpeas and lentils should be soaked with vinegar. You'll really notice a difference in digestion too! Thank you for stopping by 🥰
Although I am not really into soups since we don't have winter here (Philippines), your preparations are a feast to the eyes.
Thank you! 🤍✨
I love all your videos! Where do you get your mixing utensil?
Hello Katelyn, I pray you are well and in good health. I just love all your content. You are a great inspiration. I specifically love your cooking videos It's great in helping me provide new healthy meals for my husband and children. By any chance do you mind sharing which recipe book you used for ham soup? Thank you in advance! God bless you sister! ✝️❤️
Yay for soup! So comforting when it's cold. I love your wooden bowl! Do you mind sharing where you got it?
All my wooden bowls are antique, found at various flea markets, thrift stores, antique malls, etc :)
Thanks for the recipes! I've made the butternut squash soup and it was wonderful. 🤤 I'm making the chicken and dumplings recipe now but I don't have any sourdough starter. Do you know how much baking powder, soda, or yeast I should use in place of that? Thanks! ☺
Yay! So glad you liked the soup ❤️ the sourdough starter is actually to ferment the grains, not to give rise to the dough. Without sourdough starter you can omit the fermenting time and just make them while the soup is cooking, but you’d have to find a different dumpling recipe that isn’t sourdough so that the measurements are correct. If that makes sense. Enjoy! 😊
Everything u made looks awesome. But I have to ask u. Where did u get ur chunky sweater? I have been looking everywear for one and can't find it
💕💕💕💕
bookmarking it for the dumpling soup :D btw to me the "ugliest" soups are often the tastiest ones :D
So true! I hope you like it :)
👍👌
When you’re scraping food into the pot off of your cutting board use the back of the knife instead of the sharp side. Keeps it from getting dull so fast
I did :)
