However, his character is brilliant. The moral compass will always point to Rusty as a person, fiction or no, is a complete abomination against humanity. Hating him is putting things lightly. Now, as a character, he's absolutely brilliant. Some may wonder how that can be? In storytelling, no matter what medium it might be (movies, books, campfire tales, etc.), a well written character is always appreciated. This goes for even evil characters. For example, Final Fantasy VII, we have Sephiroth. Guy is evil incarnate. He's most definitely the bad guy. Why do we love him so much? Because because despite being an awful person, he's well written villain. If he were someone in real life, doing what he does, he ceases to be something we can appreciate as a story, therefore the only thing he has going for him is being an awful person. That's where people blur the line most. To put simply, Rusty is the absolute worst fucking thing ever as far as being a good trainer, AND person. That's also why I can't help but love the guy as a character. There's never a dull moment. Never boring and I love to hate him.

Rusty is a very awful person. However, his character is brilliant.
The moral compass will always point to Rusty as a person, fiction or no, is a complete abomination against humanity. Hating him is putting things lightly.
Now, as a character, he's absolutely brilliant. Some may wonder how that can be? In storytelling, no matter what medium it might be (movies, books, campfire tales, etc.), a well written character is always appreciated. This goes for even evil characters. For example, Final Fantasy VII, we have Sephiroth. Guy is evil incarnate. He's most definitely the bad guy. Why do we love him so much? Because because despite being an awful person, he's well written villain. If he were someone in real life, doing what he does, he ceases to be something we can appreciate as a story, therefore the only thing he has going for him is being an awful person. That's where people blur the line most.
To put simply, Rusty is the absolute worst fucking thing ever as far as being a good trainer, AND person.
That's also why I can't help but love the guy as a character. There's never a dull moment. Never boring and I love to hate him.
