gen one you could run out of PP, if you were at 0 you had to use another attack till you ran completely out and gained a physical only move that would do dmg to you too.

I love the writing in this video because Gold’s team actually makes a lot of sense. Everyone except for his starter pokemon, was a HM slave. So he just wanted them to die in his last battle. Then he just beated red with his starter lol

It's because you can do the whole game with him alone, i remember my playthrough on gold being him and onix and the rest were HM slaves.
It's actually the best leveling strategy. When I played pokemon ruby I decided to just rush trough it with blaziken and groudon. The blaziken was so overleveled that it oneshot everything. I had beaten the elite four in about half a day. After that discovery I never level more than two pokemon until I reach victory road. Battling in the low level areas is a time sink so I skip it.

Honestly, Red can't "actually" lose, because he literally has caught every single pokemon in his region. That literally includes Rayquaza, Mewtwo, Mew, Groundon, and Kyogre. Otherwise he wouldn't have been able to finish the pokedex, anyways.

Typhlosion carries the whole game alone. Blastoise can be oneshot with a Thunderpunch.
He did bring along his 3 legendary birds, meaning that three of the spots out of six are already gone.
Red should auto be a charizard main. I Played Blue back in the day and yes had Blastoise, probably the best pick out of all 3 back in red and blue.

Full restore spam until the enemy team runs out of PP for a move is overpowered. But having 999 revives while switching Pokemon back and forth until they run out of PP is just as effective and a cheaper alternative.

Red had 6 pokemon, he left 3 legendary birds to keep people away from the mountain, kept two weak HM slaves on him so he could leave the mountain, leaving his Pikachu as his only battle pokemon. Gold was a collector of stuffed HM slaves (who committed suicide) and only used his Typhosion as his only battle Pokemon. This explains why Red gave up after his Pikachu lost, he needed a way off the mountain and couldn't make it without his last two pokemon.
