    I live in southern Alabama, and my Bermuda was looking bad! I scalped it and put down PGF complete and green shocker then watered it in thoroughly. I’m totally amazed how good it looks after only 3 days. I will repeat it in another 2 weeks. Guys I know Anderson products aren’t cheap, but you get what you pay for. I want to see results for all the work I do on my lawn, and Anderson delivers.

      I used Anderson’s and my lawn looks worse after using the products. I spent over a grand on their fertilizers. What a waste! Very disappointing!
      My brother did the same because I referred him to Doc’s videos and follow his advice it exactly and had him download the schedule as I did. His yard is the worst it’s ever been! Weeds galore. Same as mine! Thanks for making me look bad with my recommendation!

    Doc I used your guide and now all the neighbors want me to help grow their grass. If you ever write and publish a book I’d like to buy them in bulk to share with all my neighbors.

    I have tall fescue grass and push growth heavy (spoon feed...25lbs N) in the fall months up to November and especially in the spring months (May) with 1-2 light applications to thicken up the lawn to help choke out weeds. I've been doing this for years with fescue and bluegrass. The lawn comes in thick in the spring from my fall month fertilizer program. My go to push fertilizer is Lesco 45-0-0...straight fast release. The best type to use is the sprayable (mini) prill size which is small like milorganite and that green shocker which makes it easy to spoon feed the lawn. I do a slow release (.25-.50lbs of N) in early June just before the summer hot months and no more fertilizer until the fall months. If I need a green hit in the summer, I just spray some iron and Kelp4less humic acid/Kelp etc. I will have to check out that green shocker fertilizer.

    I'm trying to go big this year following the lawn guide. I'm in northern Alabama and our weather has been as high as 85 and on some days in the 60s. I'm pushing my lawn using Andersons and I'm starting to see results.
    PGF is expensive but I'm happy with my lawn turning green before alot of other lawns that are still dormant.
    I'm also using humichar and I'll be doing so for the next two years to get the results I need.
    Also be sure to test your PH, it could take up to a year before your lawn will balance PH using the Andersons Lawn Tuner Lime.

    Try tomato trellising Doc. Those cages are for the birds. You can use T-posts and cattle panels or you can build something more permanent with wood and use twine. There are also tomato hooks pre-strung with UV/Weather resistant twine and the trellis doesn't have to be as tall with those. Happy tomato growing.🍅

    I know something else those wood chips will do. I worked for ten years in a wood chip burning powerhouse where we produced 200,000# per hour of steam and generated 30 megawatts of electricity to operate a large chemical plant. In the early years we tried to keep a 30 day supply of wood chips on hand but it’s hard to keep a pile that big rotated properly. We ended up with the pile spontaneously combusting and it took months to put the fire out.

    I live in north Georgia in a new community. I did put down 10-10-10 as our soil test results came back with low potassium and low phosphorus in our Georgia red clay soil. It has been two weeks since application. Are you suggesting pgf complete and humichar as soon as weather is consistently 70-80’s? To put things in perspective we moved in to our home November 2022 and some sod lines are still visible. It does need to be leveled but don’t want to level until growth season. Any guidance from the master would be greatly appreciated.

    Seeing that big wood chip pile made me think of the Johnson-Su static pile bioreactor. Given that you have the space and time to allow for a few of these it seems a natural fit. I would love to see that on video with the who fungal compost that be produced.
    Keep up the good work.

    I've got a half acre, and to treat my entire lawn with PGF Complete it takes 2 whole bags. That's roughly $175 per treatment. To do that every 3 weeks or so is very expensive. Do you or anyone have any recommendations for an alternative fertilizer for bermuda that won't break the bank? I'd love to continue using PGF Complete, but I simply cannot afford it right now.
    Also, I have a clay soil (Central-Eastern NC) and I am still seeing PGF Complete particles on top of the soil after putting down an application about 6 weeks ago; how can I really get the fertilizer into the soil? I watered immediately after application, and have had quite a few rains since, but it's still lingering. Love the content! Keep helping bermuda newbs such as myself become less lawn-dumb!

    • @CR-ow2wp
      @CR-ow2wp Рік тому +1

      Lesco products and Milo are outrageously expensive now. I'd recommend going to your local agriculture supply or landscape supply to see if they have some cheaper yet effective fertilizers that you can buy in bulk and get a discount.
      Also, for a larger lawn where you're going to need a bunch of fertilizer, the best time to buy is at the end of the season when stores start putting stuff on clearance, or even in the winter when there can be some good deals. Buy what you need in bulk during the off-season so you'll have everything you need during the growing season.

      Yeah, Andersons jumped on the inflation-greed price increases as well- their prevailing 10% off pricing has helped maintain last years pricing, but eventually we'll all be stuck with the new prices.

    Doc I’m in NC. I applied Geen Max to my Bermuda a few weeks ago while the temps were still about low 60s. Got a few fungus spots since then following my first cut. Gonna apply some BioAdvanced fungus control…besides that would you recommend Milorganite, GreenMax again or something else for a deeper green and that thick carpet look

    Can you be specific on the “below the bag rate” comment with PGF Complete? The bag recommends 3.6 lbs per 1,000 sqft as a LIGHT application. How little arw you using during this biweekly push?

    • @HowTowithDoc
      @HowTowithDoc  Рік тому +1

    Doc I have a question? My front lawn is 18500 sqft and have zoysia in 15000, and a little of everything else in the rest, I have little weeds and have 2lb of zoysia seed to overseed with. I am in Virginia and off next week temperatures are right and will be able to water, should I continue to mow at the same height or wait some time for the seed to germinate?

    Doc - excellent videos. When you say 70-80 degrees for the push zone, 1) is this the air temp and 2) is this the solid temp for day and night our just day? We have large swings of temp in East Tx.

    • @mattb9664
      @mattb9664 Рік тому

      For all the soil amendments- the results are not instant. It takes about 4-6 wks, you'll get a rain and after a good rain you'll realize 'wow, my yard actually looks way better and healthier than it has in the past' - and that's how you know the product works. What also happens is your lawn will be one of the last to go into dormancy when the cold temps arrive- my cool season lawn lasted all the way to late Dec while everyone else's rapidly had its green sucked away by Thanksgiving.
