Doc shows the early results of fixing the ugly lawn and restoring it back to a lush Bermuda lawn. It's spring, so growth fertilizers need to go down now.
Can you do a video on how to fix a weed lawn with very little grass?

One product I used years ago to keep bermuda out of my zoysia was fusilade. I think it is compatible with cool season grasses in that it wont harm most but read about it carefully before buying because you have some really nice cool season grasses on your green. Another thing is only use 7 drops of fusilade to one gallon of water and agitate as you spray if possible. You might do a small test area first. Nearby golf course might have this on hand and give you a small sample. I think it still comes in quarts. Last time i bought it was about $70. Be really careful in the number of drops. I enjoy all your videos. Great information. Has certainly improved my lawn. The biochar and humichar is something I never knew about until you started talking about it. Wished i had known this years ago. Anyway, just wanted to comment. You have a beautiful lawn.

Another great video! I've learned so much from your videos. Although, as much as I love your videos, I wish you could use products that's readily available from the big box stores. Living in hawaii, your PGF and Humichar would be too expensive to get. Priced it out on Amazon, and the shipping alone is about $50.

If I were going to redo a green, I would use a sod cutter and cut out the green, and re-sod with a dwarf bent or whatever you wanted. The down time would be much less and you could have your green rolling smooth as heck in a growing season.

Doc, I’ve been following u over the past 1.5 yrs. this spring my backyard came back with weeds even after, what I thought was a lot of preemergent. Do u think the weeds are resistant? Help? Should I cut first then spray the weeds then add preemergent again? I feel like they have grown over night! Grrrrr!

No,
Bermuda spreads by stolons and rhizomes. Pre emergents only work on weeds that reproduce by seeds.

Another great vid Doc! Thanks for sharing your knowledge! You caught my attention in this video where you mentioned the lawn across the street was mostly weeds and maybe 20% Bermuda!!! (< I think mine is about the same) Naturally, the first question in my inexperienced head asked did you seed but then heard you talk about how incredibly invasive this grass type is and assume all those feedings help it to rapidly spread, so I will be paying attention to its progression. I do have a question though! I purchased one of those ProPlugger tools, could I speed up the process of Bermuda growth of my lawn by taking plugs out and replanting them where ever I have bare spots??? I've also been dying to give my front lawn a lawn leveling treatment but not having any luck finding a gravel/soil depot who'll offer a sand/soil mix of any proportion let alone the recommended mix ratios recommended for lawn leveling, I'm in middle TN. Any guidance on the plugger use would be greatly appreciated!

Doc, light coat rate for PGF complete, Is your spreader rate setting at 1/4 inch, the same or less than the bag light rate of 3.6 lbs per 1000 sq ft. Trying to figure out how much PGF is needed for the season with a 7,500 sq ft lawn.

What’s up Doc. Got my soil results back March 2. High N, Low P, and Low K so I did a light triple 12 app and laid some dolomitic lime to bring ph up a tad. My question how often do you get a soil test performed? I’m thinking of running another triple 12 app soon before switching to the PGF complete. Thoughts?

is there an advantage to using the granular 16-4-8 or will the ready made spray work fine as well. Having problems finding the granular locally.
If I cover a damaged area with a tarp and use pre-emergent around the tarp area, Can I reseed the tarp area? I have a huge area in the middle of the lawn that died. It looks like mole damage.

Fusilade II kills bermuda but will not kill your other grass.
Yes, we will actually be showing it this year for flower beds but it generally is not safe on fine bents and blues.

What would you recommend Doc? I come home on the evenings, is it okay to lay down pgf complete and humichar around that time of day? Thanks

You want to use The Andersons PGF with no phosphorus in it.

Doc I have a client that wants Bermuda overseed. Is it good to Aerate first and then overseed? Right now they have Bermuda and lots off weeds. I was told not to Pre-emerge if overseeding. So any guidance will help. Great videos BTW.

What does doc mean when he says a “light coat” of pgf complete?
I follow the spreader settings on the back of the bag, luckily you don't have to really worry too much as it's very hard to over fertilize and burn your lawn.

Bag rate is fine for the growing season.

Your neighbor's lawn looks remarkably better with those weeds gone. But what was their reaction when you said you are intentionally not killing the weeds across your yard that's part of theirs? I guess it's in the name of science, so you can kill the weeds later in the year. 🤓
