I like how you just got straight to the point and showed us without having to take 5min breaks in between and telling us about tools. Instead you put them on the side, very professional. 👌🏼
I had forgotten to ask my alternator to come out. Came out like a dream with a few words of encouragement. Thank you sir for this amazing video. Saved me loads of time
I love that you didn't even talk our ears off like some of the glamour queen mechanics who make it all a big talkative show!!! Thank you for this. My first time today.
73 years old and forgot everything- took me awhile to firger out m&m don't make tools but got it under control. Don't seem too different from what I remember back in the 60's. After 50 years I would assume Rees's would have gotten some peanut butter in the mix. Ha! Great job dude ! plain, simple, easy just the way I like my gravy and biscuits.
Great, Simple, To the point ! I watched your video, and went out with my stepson (this was a GREAT, Simple teaching moment, he's 14 and he's gettin the car bug, thank god ! lol ! ) and we had it off and the new one on in no time flat. I'm not exactly a rookie, but that also means I don't like to jump into stuff I haven't done before without takin a minute and seein or talking to somebody else who HAS done it before, whatever it is ! Cos there's always a few lil tricks to anything, hahaha... anyway, Great Job, and Deo Vindice, my Southern Brother ! And the comments about asking it nicely were spot on , too ! LOLOL
I appreciate your comment and watching the video and i am glad it was helpful. I know exactly what you you mean by studying up on something a little bit before taking on a task. Thanks man!
Great vid this. No BS. Job done. One question .... when you had your hand in at the end, were you just making sure the belt hadn't slipped off elsewhere? Ty
Thanks for the help greatly appreciated as I have no one to show me anything took my about 20 mins and that includes looking for the tools in a pile of crap lol
I thought it was safer to remove the Negative wire from the battery first and then the Positive wire from the battery second. Any particular reason you did it the other order?
True and only need to remove negative really... But if your careful it's fine to take the positive off first. As you can tell from the video i didn't hurt anything by doing that. However It is recommended to take negative off first.

Did you wash that engine for the video!!! If that is how well you maintain your engine that it looks that clean I am envious. Good job on the video and thank you for not having some annoying distracting music in the background. Informative and easy to watch with a touch of humor.(please ask the alternator to come out)
When my 2004 4.0 6L OHC Jeep Grand Cherokee started acting up, the vehicle would struggle to start and sometimes would die. Then, it wouldn't start up at all. I jumped started it and it turned on, but then it struggled to stay on and eventually would die if we didn't continually give it gas. What do you think might be the problem?
Pino Flores it is most likely the alternator. if you can get the jeep to start up and run then disconnect the battery while jeep is still running. if the vehicle stays running its not the alternator but if the jeep stops running the alternator is bad.
You may want to check the battery and that the battery connections are good. If everything is good then it could be the alternator has became faulty and the right voltage is not being produced at all times and causes drain on the battery. One of the ways to test that the alternator is working is to start the vehicle and then disconnect the battery and if the vehicle still runs without shutting off it is good indication the alternator is ok .
You could spray you some penetrating oil (pb blaster) and let it sit for awhile and then try again to loosen. And you might need to get some extra leverage on the wrench your using to loosen the bolt with. I hope that helps.
starry nite 540 hey haha it is not that bad. well the battery would be dead after driving the jeep. the alternator was not maintaining the voltage generation to keep battery charged.
Tools Down South I'm getting excessive ripple reading at advanced with p0700 code on dash but no check engine light im confused. I have heard the exessive ripple is because the altenator is gone
Ask and say please? My tried and true method is to cuss the car out tell it how much of a pos it is kick the tire tell it I’m taking it to the junk yard then it usually works
This was exactly what I needed to replace the alternator on my car, thank you so much for sharing
You are welcome. Thank you! for the comment.

Great video! Straight to the job and no talking your leg off. I'll be replacing old 136amp with a 250amp fused to run amps, and lights.

My jeep wj loses power for a bit and comes back on. Could that be a problem with the alternator?

My bolt won’t come loose at all any suggestions?

Hey man wish I had you here to do this for me lol, what problems was it giving you to know it needed replacenent?
starry nite 540 hey haha it is not that bad. well the battery would be dead after driving the jeep. the alternator was not maintaining the voltage generation to keep battery charged.

starry nite 540. yes might be
Tools Down South thanks for video gonna change it tomoorow I'm just a bit weirded out by doing the belt part
@@onelanebridge_ haha same, that belt sucks. Have had a brand new laying in the back for a year now, just not interested before i absolutely have to.
WHY TAKE OFF BOTH BATTERY POSTS?
My alternator said it wasnt ready to come out, it needed some more time XD
Where the hell is this magical tension release bolt
Looks like it's beneath the oil cap down low.
How awkward was it to not talk the entire video?
austin garcia haha about as awkward as it is to talk myself as i work on a vehicle when no one else is around...

@@toolsdownsouth lol I was just looking for socket sizes bc I’m a lazy pos but nice accidental asmr
