All the comedians mentioned are American. So how do you know what other comedians there are "on the planet" that do not qualify for your list. Did you know that there actually countries and comedians outside of the USA?
Those were the days when entertainers went into the entertainment industry because they loved it. They would have been entertainers even if it meant they had to live on the street. Today's "entertainers" are in it just for the money.
I used to watch Carson with my mom who was a night owl. We used to watch in L.A. when the Tonight Show was on from 11:30 to 1:00 AM. No wonder I missed so many days of school!

I read somewhere someone in Hollywood had told Chris Farley he would be great in a drama. Dangerfield starred in a drama.

Two of my favorite comedians/actors. I never realized they appeared together on the Carson show. Granted it was before my time, but it's great to see these two on stage together with Carson. Wish they were both still around. Fatso and Easy Money are some of my favorite comedies.
Few, if any, could make Johnny laugh as did Rodney. And, to his credit, Johnny could be a heck of a straight-man feeding Rodney lines. Miss them both!!!
I just wanted to thank you so much Archilchus Moz, for sharing this. These shows were wonderful. It was such a relaxing and uplifting way to unwind from the stress of the day, watching these before turning in at night. Watching Johnny's show was an escape from the stress of the news and the daily grind of the day. None of the talk shows of today, offer this. Thanks again.

During the Civil War my great uncle fought for the west! My father was stupid. He worked in a bank and they caught him stealing pens. My mother had morning sickness after I was born. My mother never breast fed me. She told me that she only liked me as a friend. My father carries around the picture of the kid who came with his wallet. When I played in the sandbox the cat kept covering me up. I could tell that my parents hated me. My bath toys were a toaster and a radio. One year they wanted to make me poster boy... for birth control. I remember the time I was kidnapped and they sent back a piece of my finger to my father. He said he wanted more proof. My uncle's dying wish was to have me sitting on his lap. He was in the electric chair. One time I went to a hotel. I asked the bellhop to handle my bag. He felt up my wife! This morning when I put on my underwear I could hear the Fruit of the Loom guys laughing at me. I'm a bad lover. Once I caught a peeping tom booing me. My wife only has sex with me for a purpose. Last night she used me to time an egg.
Rodney was cool,funny,and smart.he made me laugh!I could listen him all day,and still laugh my ass off! He was in a class by himself.He was the best of all the comedians.

When I was 14, I saw this amazing episode while staying on the Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA. It was such a thrill to see Johnny and his guests live! Nowadays, we only seem to have left-wing activists posing as comedians. Yep, the old days were definitely better.
Johnny Carson was the best of the late night hosts and knew how to get involved and sit back and very seldom every got into politics not like the jerks on air now. RIP Johnny and thanks for the Laughs
Nostalgia. You’ll all have that affliction some day. These people brought a lot of joy to my life and I miss them very much. People rag on the entertainment industry very much these days. It depends how you see it. Entertainment was better in the 60s to 90s. Especially since Obama and at the same time passing of legends it has lost something. So now while there are some stuff, most of it is crap. Like late night is unwatchable now between Jay Leno, Craig Ferguson and David Letterman leaving and Arsenio Hall failing on his return. So now I don't really have a show I like or want to see. Conan is ok but the monologue is boring since Trump became president. I see Dick Cavett and Johnny Carson reruns and anything now pales in comparison.. Only show on daytime worth it is Live with Kelly and Ryan. The View changed for the worse and it was watchable in the 90s and 00s. No more Larry King Live, though I like his new format on Ora TV, so CNN turned to crap. Larry interviewed legends and did shows on judicial cases and hot button topics. It was a good hour. Now not so much. Kimmel went from a fun show to all political and lost me. Fallon just not my cup of tea. Colbert is an idiot and Corden got dull. Seth is not great either. So at my house I see Antenna TV for Carson reruns and go on UA-cam for clips. I'm young enough it all passed me by quickly. Only 11 when Carson retired.
guyfihi I tried to find a show where Rodney and Rickles were together, I don't know if they would work well together, but it sure would be interesting. Rodney pretty much did more standup jokes in his interview, while Rickles interacted with the crowd and the host more. Two completely different comedians, but both hilarious, and took over the show when they were on.
It wouldn't work, since they would both try to be the center of attention. One insults and the other one is all about self-deprecation... Just doesn't work since it's all going in the same direction.

In fact Dom & Burt used to come on the Tonight show together (promoting a movie, I guess), with Reynolds laughing uncontrollably at anything DeLuise had to say. Seriously, Burt would be on his knees laughing, and I used to think, wtf is so funny?? Crickets. I didn't know about the author and chef aspect.

Actually in the very beginning the tonite show was 1:45 minutes. Ed McMahon hosted the 1st 15 minutes.

Rodney pretty much did more standup jokes in his interview, while Rickles interacted with the crowd and the host more. Two completely different comedians, but both hilarious, and took over the show when they were on.
It wouldn't work, since they would both try to be the center of attention. One insults and the other one is all about self-deprecation... Just doesn't work since it's all going in the same direction.
2 genuine masters of comedy and timing without resorting to a steady stream of F bombs and gutter language!
More talent on that stage than the entire Hollywood pretenders today. This was TV at it's best.
@@jamesanthony5681 Obviously you are too young to remember him, he was an extraordinarily talented comedian, author and chef. Canon Ball Run movies, did the voices for multiple cartoon movies and appeared in a wide range of variety shows which included the Dean Martin Show. Hollywood legend.
@@kikionthetrailoflove7036 I'm old enough. I remember DeLuise on the Dean Martin show in the barbershop sketches, and in the Smokey?/Cannonball Run? movies with Burt Reynolds. In fact Dom & Burt used to come on the Tonight show together (promoting a movie, I guess), with Reynolds laughing uncontrollably at anything DeLuise had to say. Seriously, Burt would be on his knees laughing, and I used to think, wtf is so funny?? Crickets.
I didn't know about the author and chef aspect.

Shon C You left out Orson Bean, who was a gifted storyteller, among his many talents. Told a couple of the funniest jokes I ever heard. All are missed...

Nice clip! Dangerfield in the classic Cadyshack movie, if you haven't' seen it, he really injects a lot of humor in to that film, super funny!!
