Well, he does tell you who the Origami killer is, lol. If you're watching a video like this you should be way past worrying about spoilers though, so I don't blame him. Just saying he DOES tell us who the killer is in this video (the main mystery of the game.)
Jonathan Essex Sadly it is only on PS4. Seeing the lack of homebrew app makers on there means that there'll most likely be less people (or none) making RTM/E tools or finding addresses to poke to do stuff like this.
Heavy Rain is one of my favorite games of all time, thanks for the good memories and some new perspective on the game. I never realized just how much detail they put in the environments that you can easily go right past and not even realize it.
This is one of the all time great episodes I think. I found it very cool how it actually gave insight into some things, like the fact that Jason takes the elevator and not the escalators
I remember when I played this game for the first time, I got a weird glitch in Ethan's house where the split-screen camera somehow got stuck underneath the floor and all I could see was a black void and rising smoke. Really cool to finally see what was actually happening down there from a better viewpoint.
I watched the Portal 2 episode and was immediately intrigued. Game devs constantly use shortcuts to save time, nemory space, and money and looking at their techniques is so cool
Yep! It's sort of like a game in-and-of-itself to try to balance aesthetics and performance. In order to make things look good and run well, certain cuts have to be made that the player might not normally notice. It's sort of like a magician trying to divert the audience's attention to hide how they pulled it all off. It's always very fascinating to see how it works!
This was a game that I was curious about for a long time. Really is amazing how much work was put into it and that it accomplished what it had on a PS3. I knew a ton of culling would had to have been involved, and it doesn't look like I was wrong. Can't wait for MGS.
Matt Bergman Yeah, the only character I wanted to survive in the end was Jayden. But I didn’t have enough evidence for the case, so Ethan went alone because I didn’t like Madison. Thus an awful ending.
10:15 actually had me in hysterics. It was so unexpected. I need to try to finish this game. Thanks once again for the amazing work, Shesez. Looking forward to FF7 for the next episode.
"Wasting an entire episode" look dude you can make the videos longer. Like wtf. You are missing so much but you act like you can't see them because of time.
It takes a very long time to get the footage and edit it, and he only has a week between parts, so it would be exhausting to work on a video that much.
I would LOVE an episode about Indigo Prophecy/Fahrenheit, which is the first game made by David Cage. I'm the world record holder for the speed run for it so it would be really neat to see all the off camera secrets!
Tomytom3 You are allowed to like download one free per day if I remember correctly, as long as you use them for non commercial use, for example school projects. Edit: You need to pay for the big version of the image.
The usage of the pictures is actually legal even if you didnt buy them; They cannot proof you didnt buy the pictures Although most buy them because... You know? Support the site and all?
Got to love a good T pose *zooms out into an A pose* 😉 A lot of people modelling more complex character models prefer the A pose over the T pose because you get less distortion in the shoulders when the charter puts their arms by their sides flat. Also with regards to putting a full body in rather than just a head, it would take up more data on the disk to have a separately stored asset for each characters head on its own when you already have the bodies saved and then, as you said, no reason to have any kind of pose or animation on the part the player wasn’t meant to see. Great video dude. Always love these :) I’m just being nit picky at the start
Feel free to make episodes longer (up to half an hour) And take the time to explore more, or even show some gameplay footage for comparison :) It will be greatly appriciated by those who haven't played the game, but still enjoy the content
I think you should put out a "behind the scenes" video showing how you're able to "break boundaries" and the software/tools you're using so more people can explore the games they love.
Tiny nitpick: "Lorem ipsum" text isn't actually gibberish, it's legit Latin. Only the word "lorem" is nonsensical -- in the original text it was "dolorem ipsum" (meaning "pain itself"), but the first syllable got cut off for some reason when it was used as filler text.
My only gripe was not seeing a camera hack for the scene when Jason dies and showing whether Scott was in the crowd or not. They show a flashback and he's there, but the scene in the start only shows so many angles, mostly on Ethan and his wife so it's harder to see if that detail was maintained or not. Beyond that, it is neat how much stuff was there in places like Norman in the apartment. That's quite a bit of skybox and buildings for what could have just been a tinier backdrop the player wouldn't see much of given the fixed camera angles. Also, could have been neat to see if the motel had more than just Ethan's room modeled.
Yoxiv that's an interesting suggestion, but I couldn't do it since Jason's death is a pre-rendered video and not actual gameplay, so you can't do this free camera stuff
This game actually takes place in Philadelphia, not NYC. Jayden's opening chapter takes place not too far from my actual house, the mall that Jason gets lost in is loosely based on The Gallery, Ethan's sad dad rental house is in West Philly, and the location of the motel that Ethan stays at is actually a shopping center IRL.
Great episode as always! It's a joy to see the strange out-of-bounds scenery. Also, please could you do an episode on Kingdom Hearts? It's an iconic game with some strange AOB stuff.
You forgot the highway scene, the nightclub scenes, and the motel scenes. It wanted to see if the motel had all the other rooms interiors designed or so.
3:56 i like how the people dont despawn and respawn to make the street look crowded, they just make them walk one way then turn around and come back like a bunch of movie extras.
WISH LIST for the Final Fantasy VII episode: -The interactive FMVs (the ones where you can move during them, like that big elevator, forgot where it was) -Pre-rendered backgrounds (I know this was somewhat covered in the Ocarina of Time episode, but I just want to see) -Summons -Spells and Limit Breaks that significantly change the battlefield like Super Nova. That's about it. Love the show. Keep up the good work!
These videos are BRILLIANT! Super happy I stumbled upon this channel! Also given the hardware this game was running on these graphics are truly unbelievable
yeeeaaahh.... no. Arms slightly down like that is called A pose, arms straight to the side is called t pose. Often, character modelers will use A pose rather than T pose because it is a more natural, relaxed pose to sculpt or model the character in. That being said, the distinction between the two is not so great that I would have felt the need to correct him calling them T poses in the first place.
