This is such a wonderful tutorial. I have been knitting for about 8 years and have knitted Locatelli's shawls in the past, but I was stumped with the directions in this pattern. Thank you so much for your tutorial video. I credit you with being able to finish this beautiful shawl.
Very helpful! I just got to the dropped stitch section directions and was so lost. I had hoped there was a UA-cam video on this shawl, and lo and behold I found you. Super appreciate your time putting this together. Thank you 😊
Thank you so much for making this! I have been knitting for over 15 years and this pattern had me so confused, I felt so dumb 😅. I don't usually use patterns and started this one on a whim and after looking at everyones notes on their projects found this tutorial.
That is so good to hear! Thank you for taking the time to say so. I am currently working on a sock tutorial- maybe that will be of interest too! I am now addicted to sock knitting!
Thank you so much for making this extremely helpful tutorial! It's such a beautiful shawl but I was unfamiliar with a few of the stitches/techniques. Take care!
Can someone please explain the progression for the Wrap and Turn? Does row 1 include knitting back to the beginning after the wrap, or is that row 2 and 4? Or are rows 2 and 4 WS rows following the W & T (after turning and knitting back to the beginning of row 1) that are knit all the way from end to end? Also, in subsequent wrap and turns, do you keep building, turning further and further to the end - i.e. K10, turn, knit back, K9 more past W&T, knit back, and then do that sequence again (making a wedge totalling 19 stitches), or do you build on previous W&Ts ( 10 & 9 = 19, then 9 more past 19 = 28, then 9 more....)????? Basically, what I'm asking is: are you making a small wedge that is only 19 stitches wide, with no WS rows knit from end to end until after the entire W & T wedge repeats are completed?
I'd really love to have an answer to this question. I've scoured ravelry for an answer and haven't found anything. I followed the pattern with a 19 stitch wedge and it doesn't look anything like the photos. It makes a long skinny wedge and I think it needs to be wider.
Resolving your wraps and turns do not need to leave a hole. Just put one below and knit it togethher. You don't different when it's right or left but it's very easy. "knitting Olive" Barbara is great. She has two videos that teach pu and lift as a way to do many things. You will find it helpful, I'm sure. She isn't teaching it in those videos as a way to resolve w&t but you'll see how it will resolve the hole, very easily. The uses for the lifted stitch are awesome especially for center stitch it makes a great center spine on shawls. But also can be used to resolves the hole left the W&T leaves. THEY ARE different whether you lift on the right side and left side of the stitch. I hope you check it out. She has a UA-cam Channel and an Instagram page. I'm on Instagram but don't post as much as I should. W&ts ate also in done patterns in a purl row I'm certain you know that too. A row which many patterns do call for. " knittingillove" does great tutorial's and her patterns are also quite lovely. I enjoy your channel a lot. You do very simple and clear instructions teaching special techniques for popular patterns. Thanks so much. Covid sure has made life lonely, thank g-d for knitting! Art in general. I've been a self-employed artist for 35 plus years. I dye yarn and am starting a new business. Covid has made life crazy and lonely especially being new to Texas. Are you anywhere near Dallas? I moved to Texas before covid but just by a few months, I'm from LA. My husband works at Leonardo DRS, as an engineer in Dallas. I especially appreciate the way you teach with chunky yarn and then go back to what the yarn pattern uses. You do a great job. Teaching the special stitches in patterns I've purchased is very helpful. UA-cam is my savior. I just have only been knittingi for 3 years and do not know anyone in Dallas. If you are near Dallas. I'd love to grab a coffee or get together and do a knit night or something. If possible?!? This is a very odd way to meet people but these days, how else? So, I'd love to meet you. Honestly, I don't mean to be intrusive or creepy in any way. I'm a normal person - I promise! I just really want to meet other knitters, locally. Thanks so much, Trudy
Thanks so much for the compliments and the suggestion to watch Knitting I Love - I checked it out - seems great! I agree the knitting community is fabulous- especially in Covid times! I wish I lived in Texas - I have 3 feet of snow here in NY! Happy knitting to you!!
huh. I guess it was someone else. Sorry, I must have gotten you mixed up with someone else. Typical Texas weather - I'd agree. However, we are having very cold weather and snow, first time since 1989 we hear. Rolling power outages for the past two days. ICE storm and 0 below degrees weather for the past 2 days. Not the normal sweltering 😆 lol

I sent the tutorial to Joji - and hope she likes it. I am careful in my tutorials to not give too much of the specifics of any pattern away. This is to help a relative beginner with the pattern, hopefully that is good for Joji & knitters!
I’m so glad it’s helpful to you! I am currently knitting her Rafa’s hat pattern for my boys. She has fabulous patterns and also seems to be a great woman who lifts others up with her. Good luck with your Storm Shawl!
Franckline Casimir-benoit What is confusing you? Happy to try to help. You knit along the row - past the wrap you made in row 1 (no need to pick up the wrap - just knit it as a normal stitch) then continue on for (# called for in pattern) stitches and make your wrap and turn. Does that help?
Franckline Casimir-benoit So glad!!! If you are still playing with wraps and turns, check out the video I recently posted on them. It walks through the full process of picking up the wraps - which you don’t have to do in this project, but you might find interesting none the less! Happy knitting!!!!

Confused on the bind off. When do you start the process over again by casting on more stitches?
OMG! What is the name and brand of that nail polish??? Stunning!!!
I know right! I love it too. Ready for this... it is Essie ‘Merino Cool’ - like Merino Wool - don’t you love it even more now!!! 🤣
