Been feasting on your series of overhaul videos. Watching this video I have finally identified the carburettor fitted to my Qualcast 35 s Classic circa 2002. However the air filter is nothing like the one on your mower. Acquired it a few weeks ago. Starts first time, sharpened the blades, cuts grass with stripes, and changed the oil, so no worries so far. I suspect one the carb will need cleaning eventualy. Thanks for the useful tips, also able to get the kill switch working correctly after seeing it done. Many thanks
Wow Mick what a bargain when i left school i worked in a old fashioned butchers shop in the city centre £8 a week six days a week Saturday was the best doing deliverys on the old fashioned bike with the basket on the front 👍👍👍👍

I left school in 1962, worked as a cinema projectionist, £3 a week and half of that was given to my mother. With the rest I bought cigarettes and a Triumph motor bike on HP. Those were the days. 😊
£15 a day, man you were lucky. At 15 years of age my first job was driving a narrow gauge train in a gravel pit £2 5s a week and when I reach 16 y o it increased to £2 10s a week. But I loved that job. Shudda mentioned that was in 1950 lol
Hello Mick. I found your channel a few months ago after buying a 1999 Qualcast 14se. Many of your vdeos have been really helpful, as this is my first go at a self propelled petrol mower. With regards to the fuel tank cap that you mentioned, i couldent get a reasonably priced replacement via the usual outlets. In the end i bought an AA emergency fuel cap they sell for cars and it works a treat, and only a couple if quid via Amazon. Thanks for all the content. Cheers Dave
Lovely, personally I think the rpm is OK. Remember the cylinder mower drive speed is coupled with the engine rpm, too much and you'll end up jogging along behind. The important part is a nice clean effortless cut. I wouldn't bother changing the engine, as you've pointed out it might end up more trouble than it's worth.
Plumbing, first job was go back to school I just left the fit toilet seats. But the good thing is I was earning £200 a week and all my mates were on why TS money

Hi Mick , my new ordered roller cable got delivered yesterday and fitted it today 😅 but only for the cable adjuster bolt to just break 🤦♂️ found the cylinder cable one broke in the thread part too. Was dying to fire up the motor because of the fuel in the tank. Fired up ok 😃 least the roller wasn’t try to move forward this time. However I noticed the cylinder was working. The cable looks ok , ( hopefully) will it be to do with the cable adjuster bolt not working correctly. I tried slacking the cable but it still ran.
Mick do you have a video in your catalogue for removing the head and de-coke etc and refit new gasket for the tecumseh engine on this type of mower please?
Try some silicone spray on the belts/pulleys if they are snatching, worked a treat on mine. No it doesn't make them slip. I think the pulleys rust after a while which makes them grab, silicone spray makes them smooth as silk.
@@themowerman The only lubricant to use on lawnmower belts and pulleys is French Chalk (magnesium silicate), which is a dry lubricant and used industrially as such. Don't use anything else. Silicone will chemically interact with the belt. A 'wet' lubricant will attract dirt and debris causing accelerated wear. I was taught by a professional groundsman with many years of experience. He taught me about mowing machines and how to use and maintain them. I've used French Chalk on my own machines and it works very well and is a lasting solution.
Hi Mick do you have any videos on fitting a replacement height adjuster on a Suffolk punch, Allett classic, Qualcast ? I have the classic which has a stuck adjuster and I’ve tried removing and refitting but can’t get it to fit with all the heights available.
Hi Mick just wondering what you think. I sometimes watch extensive gardens channel. He runs a gardening business and sometimes does vids on small garden equipment repair 😂. Im not sure whether he really knows what he's doing but says he always puts carbs in boiling hot water and wait till it stops bubbling to clean them? Surely that wouldn't work?
@@themowerman he used to say he's full of wisdom and doesn't listen to anybody. Hes definitely full of something and it ain't wisdom 😂 I pity his mum. Wrecks her kitchen using cutlery for tools pots for his carbs and teatowels as greasy rags
A great systematic approach to this repair . Success is sweet .

My first job was washing dishes in Elementary School (primary school) and my pay was a carton of chocolate milk.

What are the difference between SE models and S Models?
I am looking to buy a SE17.
Keep up the great work!

Es= electric Start.
SK self propelled with Kawasaki engine.

I’ve got this carb on a mower I’ve bought but how do I know if the choke is on or off?
Choke is all the way to you and choke off you push the lever away from you...
