Many thanks for getting back to me, I think the problem seems to be between the throttle spring/cable/screw and the carb settings not being adjusted correctly. I cleaned the carb etc.I have set up a chain saw in which you turned the carb settings one and a half turns and then the air adjuster one turn which was the primary and then went from there, I wondered if the settings on the mower are same for the factory settings or there is a set system to return to factory settings? I will try and send pictures ( if I can find out how to) of the carb and throttle. The lawnmower man has told me my engine is no longer supported, however, my mower is sound.
@@johnallen-xi8rx ok
. Look forward to the photos
Sorry I am having difficulty sending the pictures
Hi I will try a video
@@johnallen-xi8rx you can send me a video via Instagram if you like
Mick saved another one. This is yet another mower the dealer had no time to get sorted.
Yeah I would say so mate
50 minutes of........fantastic viewing - Thanks Mick
Thanks my friend
Most enjoyable Mick. Well done !
Thanks mate
Super job Mick thumbs up 👍👍👍👍
Excellent Mick. Good job👍
Steve Germany.
Thanks mate
Another one gets down and cleaned... Good video Mick and now a great mower 😃👍
Very nice video of this engine swap mate 👍
Those Magnetic Trays Come In Handy.
Very enjoyable Mick
Thanks mate
I like the idea of having the whole reel system as a drop in unit. Very clever😁👍
Yeah they are very cool..
How's she goin'? Very nice job on the engine swap. It's so true that as you work on one thing another thing fails eh!! But you got the carb fixed and the pull start swapped out too. A nice reno and now you have a great looking mower. Thanks for sharing and take care!!!
Hi mate .. thanks for watching.. I have been sooo busy of late.. hope all is good your end
Awesome video and right up my alley Mick. My Sears push mower is on it's 3rd engine now all thanks to donor mowers I brought home from the dump. busted cables and wheels sent these mowers to the scrap heap and what can I say..."One mans trash is another mans treasure". I don't buy new mowers for my land because when I'm done mowing 6 inch tall thistle and weeds these poor mowers are only going to last 2 or 3 seasons and then I go to the dump and pick up another motor. Cheers from Canada.
Good for you mate.. it's amazing what people chuck out..
Great video Mick😁😁😁
Thanks mate
I really enjoyed joining the live chat too.
Well done Mick, only thing I'd have done differently would be a start up and check before putting all the panels back on, that way if there's an issue you don't have to take them off again.
Next up is a strip down of the duff engine and see just what's going on. My bet is corroded exhaust valve or piston rings for lack of compression and the knocking is con rod journal's, these things are plain bearing, if the crank journals are good then it might be a good start for a rebuild. They're the VW engine of the lawnmower world, simple and a choice of carbs fit them if the Delorto has a jammed main jet.
Hi mate .. I did run the engine 2 years ago.. yeah I shall be looking into the engine at some point to see if I can get it running again
Never worked on one of those myself as yet but have heard many good things about them, proper job on bringing it back to life. Like you say in the video it is very much a broken let's replace it lifestyle now, gone has the days of make do and mend.. myself, I live by the make do and mend, certainly makes life cheaper!!
Yeah mate .. get in to the cylinders.. they are a great mower
Wow! great info!
Thanks mate
Hi Mick, try out the b&s fuel cap (Part No.: 497929) no leaking with this one. saved my life on my balmoral 20s. i ask myself how to chance the dog clutch rubber without moving the machine? any idea? thx
Thanks mate.. I believe you have to undo the engine mate I'm afraid
He's right mick, the plastic cap from a briggs classic engine fits perfectly.
Great informative video Mick.cracking mowers.cant beat quality build.all the best to all the P.s
Alright mate.. yeah great mowers
Wow that chassis cleaned up well Mick, looked like a different machine! I didn’t want to see 5 minutes of you doing that nut up 🤣🤣 and that pull cord was a curved ball Mick. All in all an awesome engine swap and it looks fabulous.
Thanks cupcake.. been sooo busy . Hope all is good
@@themowerman yeh, I’ve got loads on too twinkle
I recall doing this three years ago with the old Tecumseh h50 from the atco royale from the 70s. Nothing wrong with it apart from the neighbors complaining that it acted as an incredibly good jammer when East Ender's was on. #evillaugh
So instead went for a former cement mixer gx200 6 horse.
Another great video been listening to you. Severely visually impaired from Kent like tinkering in the garage to Green Woodworking but been recently restoring old tools I think might have to get an old mower just to play with as I’m sure there’s a video on your selection that I can listen to to get it to work. Got a ransom mark one push mower with the wooden handle in my collection of old tools so I think I might have to get a old cylinder mower to play with now then
Good for you mate.. yeah give it a go.. as long as your keeping the Brian moving it's good to hear you like the channel
@@themowerman thanks mate, might have to ask for advice at times and also where do you get the stickers from if they’re knackered on the grass box? But will definitely give it a go I think I might have a cylinder mower already coming fingers crossed Suffolk Punch I think it was she said I was talking to last night after I watch your video she said she’s got one in her shed
@@PaulSmith-rd8yc that's fantastic news.. simple to work on as well.. most of the spare parts and stickers I get from eBay.. happy to help if I can..
@@themowerman thanks will definitely be asking for help.
But definitely be listening to some UA-cam clips I’ve noticed you’ve done quite a few cylinder mowers. Once I get it I’ll take a photo and try and get it to you is there anyway you’ve got an email address I can find? Have a good day

What Size Engine Are You Gonna Put On The Mower?
Nice one mate - do you know what was wrong with the old engine?
Not yet mate
Mick I had a problem with the tecumseh engine on my Balmoral replaced it with a Honda Engine, just altered the drive shaft to match the Honda Engine
I have a Kawasaki I want to fit on mine.. I will have to do the same
Hi Geoffrey, What model of Honda Engine did you use and how complicated was alterating the drive shaft
@@Mark-ot2ct It was the GCV 160 probably overkill, i just cut the drive shaft of the balmoral and re-welded the drive cog to suit the new distance of the Honda drive shaft. if you send me your email i can send pics.
@@geoffreyedmundson9928 I have tried to post my email but it keeps disappearing.
@@Mark-ot2ct mine does also
Hi, what kind of engine are they on the Balmoral and how to they compare to the comadore Briggs&Stratton's from same era?
The Atco came with the Tecumseh and Kawasaki.. the Kawasaki was the one to go for.. like most things everything improves with time.. now the allett is the cylinder mower to have over..
@@themowerman cheers Mick!
Hi I have a 20 s how do you set up the fuel? From the adjusting the spring to adjusting the throttle leaver. I am unable to find the the adjustment settings.
depends on what carb you have on yours. i wo start with screwing it all the way in then slowly undo it until the mower is running right
I will try and do some videos to help you
Hi Mick. Can i ask what size nuts and bolts hold the Engine through the frame please ?
Quick question,
I have a 2-strike mower that will only start if I attach a drill to the top of the engine, then it runs fine but it refuses to start with the pull cord, all the mechanism is intact and turning the engine but it won’t start or show any signs of life.
Is there anyway to fix this?
Thanks
Hi mate .. ok so could be a couple of things.. bad or weak spark. Plug or coil. Poor compression.. and will start if turns quicker.. I would try to put some petrol mix down the head.. then put the plug back in and pull the cord.. if it starts I would say low compression.. also try a new plug
@@themowerman thanks mate, il try that
Hey mate this might be a stupid question but I'll ask it anyway. I'm doing a very similar swap but the rabbit cable on the doner engine works by pulling the lever back towards me rather than pushing away on the Balmoral. Is there a way of reversing this?
Andy
What engine is on it mate
@@themowerman it's one of those "Cylinder Mower 17S" which I think is a Suffolk. It's a Tecumseh
