Morning do you have the sizes of the needle files used in this clip? Found it very useful by the way - many thanks.
@@philnewman8188 you will find them in the comment section under tools that I use..
@@themowerman Perfect thanks
Mick thanks for your UA-cam channel. Brilliant step by step instruction. Allowed me to strip and repair my Atco Balmoral 17SE which is now purring like a kitten. Tip of buying cheap 6 in 1 screwdriver for top jet invaluable. Many thanks.
No worries mate ... Happy mowing

Great banter with Henry on this one,,,, “good old boy” I was singing Dukes of hazard
Absolutely brilliant Mick!
Watched this about 4 times, bought the 6 in 1, carb files, plus seals and gaskets off eBay.
Followed your instructions to the letter and now I have a sweet running mower that doesn’t leak it’s fuel anymore!
I bought the mower cheap so expected some problems but now, after a full service, sharpened and lapped blades and some fresh belts (also guided by you) it behaves and performs as good as new.
Matt I'm pleased to hear you have taken something from my videos.. and glad you now have a mower That runs and cuts as it should.. thanks for watching and supporting
Picked up a 14s for free yesterday that wouldn't run without fiddling with the choke. Followed your video, cleaned the carb and so far running sweet as a nut. Ta for the advice once again.
Your welcome
The fiddle ferries are fun. Nothing like a good carb clean on a Saturday morning. She runs goo. See you on the live stream.
Thanks for stopping by mate
Goo
This video couldn't of come at a better time, as I am stripping my carb, have ordered the 6 in 1 tool off amazon so will have to wait and see if I can get that part of the carb off. Great video I would of used carb cleaner rather than wd-40 but it surprisingly works!
Just to update you guys, the 6 in1 tool of amazon arrived and it works! perfect fit and removed the top jet. So all cleaned and reassembled and runs ok, according to the manual it states that the mixture jet adjustment is normally set to 7/8 turns open from fully closed. Not sure if that means full turns or half turns?
Something that would help me and a lot of others are links to places that have parts available that are becoming increasing difficult to obtain
I am pleased you have covered this carb, almost! Its full of parts and secrets I have the exact same machine that has been with us from new. For the past 14 years I haven’t used it but having recently renovated the lawn needed to start using it again. I too had problems with the carb as you can imagine I even found the very thin emulsion tube but missed the larger second one. Having cleaned the carb it worked well for a few cuts then started flooding due to the needle float valve not sealing. At that point I ordered a new needle valve for the float and a new float bowl rubber seal. One thing I discovered then was that the float needle is not solid like most but is spring loaded. The small tail end that hooks onto the plastic float moves in and out it also has the rubber point on the other end hence buying a new one. On examining the original it had stuck solid and all these features help the sealing of that float needle. So mine now starts and runs fine but at the end of the season I will strip it down to clean the piece I didn’t find to clean. Thanks Mick
Your welcome mate .. hope the video helps
Where did you get the float needle seal? I have replaced the o ring seal for the bowl. Unfortunately it is still slightly leaking fuel.
Decided I’d go more expensive for a “thin walled” 8mm as I thought the 6-1 would be naff. Turns out cheap is best. Great advice Mick. Carb now fully done and back on 🫡
Fantastic mate .. I happy for ya
Clean carby magic once again ....good hack for the jet removal tool
Pleasure to watch you work
Thanks mate
Thanks for the shoutout mate glad you where able to make use of the 6 in 1 tool
Your welcome grandpa
What a cracking mower, great as always Mick, hope all the P,s are good
All good here mate
Hi Mick - What a cracking video. The advice and the Tilloston Carb was brilliant, particularly the "6in1 Screwdriver" tool to remove the emulsion tube (£4.50 from Robert Dyas). My machine is now running like a dream.
Boom.. and that's why I do the video. To help others .. thanks for watching and supporting
Great find. I'm trying to find a cylinder mower attachment for the old gravelys to replace on my fathers tractor. Which I carelessly trashed many years ago.
Hi Mick,
Me and my wife are really hoping you may be able to help us. We watched your video and thought you were brilliant. We have a Atco B24E. The engine pull start & battery key start work fine but it doesn’t last very long and cuts out. After watching your video we believe that the carburettor needs a clean. Would it be at all possible for you to do this for us. It’s just that I really don’t trust anyone else you really are so so knowledgeable and we know that the carburettor will be in fantastic hands. We are willing to you pay for your service and all postal charges.
Kind regards
Matthew& Paula
Emailed you mate
Happy as Larry . Sir Mick the cylinder sounds a touch tight on the the bottom blade .
Mick could you do a video on the E10 Ethanol fuel. Mainly how its going to affect machines and what is available so we can continue using them. Keep up the good work.
Cheers for the video Mick. I found one of these at the side of the road today locally to me with a free scrap sign on and after cleaning the fuel tank and line, stripping the carb as per this video and resembling it runs sweet. Only downside is its missing the grassbox. Other than that it's in lovely condition. Oh, and as for getting to the emulsion tube, I was not defeated. 8mm socket hammered on and it came straight out 👍🤣
Well done mate what size Atco is it
@@themowerman it is the balmoral 14S
@@aaronrandles2122 nice mate just need a box then..
@@themowerman Yeah it would be nice to have it complete. I am thinking about spraying and sharpening the blades and just sticking it on Ebay 99p start bid.

Love them mowers i have a similar one that has the scarifier cartridge . Nice work Mick.
Great carby video SIr Mick :-) - have a great Live Stream tonight

I hope to be there mate
Hey Mick I bought one of those silicon carb repair trays last week, I love it and lose a lot less of the small carb parts under my bench now.
Fumble Fingers Klem appreciates you bud. :)
Good stuff mate they are great
Been looking for one of those, where can I get one please.

Great video, thank you! Granddad…? Just as well Henry is a gentleman lol 👍🏻
Lol
Super fine job again Mick nice mower 👍👍👍👍
Thanks mate
Fantastic detailed video Mick. I’ve just been given an Atco Balmoral 14s in mint condition because the guy who had it was cheesed off with it cutting out after 3 mins of running. I reckon a good clean down of the Tilitson following your video will sort it. The machine is mint except the cylinder cassette could do with a good clean and derust and repaint. Any videos of overhauling a Balmoral removable cylinder? Love the vids. Keep em coming. Cheers 👍🏼
Hmm have a look in my cylinder playlist.. might be something in there for you ..
@@themowerman cheers Mick. Love the little villiers carbed kick Atco. Lovely simple machine. Great stuff.
@@paulrowley71 yeah it's a cool mower and in great condition..
Mick great video. I always mean to ask do you use a wireless mic? Your sound when working and moving is very good.
It's a wireless rode go and very good
A true mucker man
Great video
Thanks mate
What luck.... an ebay find that close to you and running sweet now. awesome.
Yeah I had to sort the drive out of which I did In a video last week
Just had problems with my mower carb, and the O ring expanded by about quarter inch after I removed it. I left it while I was searching out what engine it was (failed) tried to find what carb it was (failed). By the time I got back to scratching my head at the bench the O ring fitted again. Job done. So now I know I have a Tillotson carb, will that indicate the engine make? Just found that six in one on Amazon, it’ll be here Friday so I can finish the job then. It’s a Rolson by the way.
Im guessing it's a Tecumseh engine mate ..
@@themowerman Thanks Mick, I couldn’t find any clues on it at all. ATB Jim
Hey Mick, my Atco Balmoral leaks fuel when you tip it back, any ideas before I take it apart thanks
What are you tipping it back ?
Hi Mick, great content. I have removed my carb (which is the same one as this) just to replace the gasket between the carb and the manifold. When I refitted it, fuel is now running out of a small drilling next to the bowl on the underside. It wasn’t leaking from here before and now it is pouring out. Any ideas why? Many thanks, Joe
Hi mate email me some photos at micksmowers01@gmail.com
@@themowerman HI Mick, Problem solved. Realised it was an overflow drilling so thought it might be the float valve stuck/not sealing. With the help of your video, I dismantled the float valve and needle valve, gave it a clean and that looks like it has sorted the problem. Many thanks for your help and keep up the good work (especially the Balmoral 20SE stuff).
@@kamadojoe5667 no worries Mate glad you sorted it
Nice work, Mick, probably a new belt will fix it.
Yeah mate
Nice reel mower Mick! What is that mower worth when completed? Looks like a quality machine. ✌ Roger
Oh they sell for great money when running great
Ayup mick I've recently bought a new petrol strimmer and I've filled it up with the recommended fuel mixture 40-1 But for some reason it's blowing out blue smoke I've had a look at it but can't find the problem? Do you know why this is happening?
Hmm spark arrestor? Carb tune?
@@themowerman I'll have another look tomorrow thanks mate 👍
Hallo Form Germany, good Job! Can u help me please? I Need a new Caburetor, my the Bold in Center is Broken. This in this Video is the Same. Can u send a link to bay a new? I have no Idee What a engine this is. In Germany by a Atco is Not easy.
Please email me a photo of the mower and what you need. micksmowers01@gmail.com
i have one of these in right now, its a nightmare.. cleaned, new gaskets and its pissing out fuel still, third time.. do these have any issues leaking at all?
Yeah the bowl o ring and the washer at the bottom with the 10 mm bolt..
@@themowerman i have a new o ring and a new 10mm bolt seal on it.. ill keep scratching my ed
@@dystonialife what are you using to clean the carb?
@@themowerman can i confirm the other screw that goes sideways into the fuel bowl is just for emptying the fuel bowl so needs to be tight? secondly, adjusting the idle screw valve is it the standard 1 1/2 turns out or there abouts? to clean it, i used carb cleaner and ultrasonic cleaner..
@@dystonialife ok so carb cleaner will expand the o rings.. I only use wd40.. yeah one and a half turns on the fuel mixture jet and the screw at the bottom is for just letting the fuel out..
HalloMick! I love your Channel!
Hope you can help me. Im looking for a similar Original Carburettor for my fj100d Engine Kawasaki. You know where i can get one From the Internet?
Thank you so much From Germany
You will only find a second hand one.. a new one is £170..
@@themowerman There no similar Carburettor?
You know where i can get one?
Do you sell one?
Mine was cleaned, in middle position it does mowing good, but if im switching fully choke it is „swimming“. Do you know what it can be?
@@themowerman Thanks for answering Mick!
Are you using WD40 instead of carb cleaner? Why?
Iv heard wd40 can be used to clean carburetor but never had the balls to use it
@@andreiaattard4579 I know that carb cleaner can make rubber parts like o-rings expand. Maybe WD40 is the way to go.
I only use wd40. And always have and will.. I also have great success with it
You would think it would attract dirt dust ect as its oily. Carb cleaner dries and leaves no residue. I have heard you can clean a carb with wd40 just never done it
@@andreiaattard4579 try it
