- Led Zeppelin's classic ''Kashmir'' performed by Toyah and Robert Fripp on the Thursday of Fairport's Cropredy Convention 2023. An powerful set from the duo on the night. Memorable performance.
I was there. Robert Plant was standing right behind me, near the bar, nodding his approval. It was an incredible moment. Toyah, Robert, and band were magnificent.
Nah....
Hahaha
dude don't screw with us like that....
Highlight of my festival.
ROFLMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!! ♠
Who would have thought that the punk rocker Toyah has over 40 + years later matured like fine wine and now pulling off singing an iconic Led Zep song .
Looking forward to seeing you Toyah next time that you play down here again in Kent .
Keyboard player doing guitarist face, guitarist doing extreme guitarist face, Fripp doing Fripp watching the telly face.
Brilliant comment. Laughed .😅😂😅
You win :)
thats true robert was never a showman and acted like a session player even onstage. hes so good and just his playing makes up for what he doesnt do, which is move around and make faces. hes the guy in a lab coat. strickly business. he acts out when at home doing videos in the kitchen with toyah. lol
😂😂😂
That's a good one 😂
What a lovely couple. They clearly adore each other as their Sunday lunch vids show us. Nice to see a rock'roll marriage stand the test of time. ❤
Brings back memories of seeing Led Zep early 70s here in Perth Australia, I'm still rocking mainly in my rocking chair you see I'm in my 83rd year. 🖐💕🎶🎵🎶
That would be around June 1974 if I remember correctly. I was sailing on a tanker on the Kuwait to Kwinana run, tried to get tickets, no luck
You keep that rocking chair, rocking brother.
You keep rocking Justintyme from Liverpool England I saw Robert plant here 2017 in Liverpool he was amazing 👏
I Wish It Is a rocking and rolling chair... 👍🏻💪🏻my best for you faithful fan !
Absolutely brilliant Led Zeppelin! Toyah is on fire. This all Britain again, back on fire!
Toyah is a force to be reckoned with. I love her energy and drive!
She keeps Robert grounded... he's not nearly the ass with her... go look at their lockdown videos from the pandemic!
Her exhibitionist excellence would normally make me cringe, but she's dragged Robert out from a frumpy retirement, so she's my new Goddess, a guilty pleasure to indulge in.
Immense. I love Toyah's voice. And Robert Fripp, oh man!
This was freakin’ surreal, but actually really enjoyable in a way I have no way to explain
Keyboard player spot on! Reminds me of how much John Paul Jones contributed to the gestalt of Zeppelin.
very, very true dude 👏
Agreed, using JPJ arrangement from the Ahmet Ertegun tribute concert.
The bass player is absolutely going off, too.
Fripp nailed that and Toyah was pretty fantastic too. Great version.
Brilliant performance guys!
I had never heard her sing before, I am IMPRESSED !!!
Her performance was flawless and her voice magnificent...
That cover of Kashmir was pure Bliss...
u must be deaf
She recorded and performed in the Punk/New Romantic era, around 1980.
Toyah was a big star back in the 80s!
Saw her on a solo tour last year, brilliant performance and lots of reminiscing. Saw her and Robert last night in Shrewsbury. Awesome.
It is fascinating to see how Mr. Fripp's eye oversees it all with absolute control and delight!
Mr Fripp has to be the most precise, economical guitarist I have ever seen. Only moves his hands and fingers and with precision!!
I know, right?
So, what you are saying is he played a "mean" guitar?
@@fueledbylove No. What I am saying that the only things that move are his fingers with an economy of movement that is amazing. Absolutely no histrionics, no need.
@@henryjamesnigel Ok no dispute but you totally missed the humorous gist of my post "mean" = not generous, stingy goes with your comment about minimal movement plus the phrase is a Pink Floyd, Welcome to the Machine lyric, but it sailed over your head - so maybe it wasn't funny after all.
@@fueledbylove Ha ha! That’s brilliant. When puns are done right they are truly exquisite. Very clever, my friend.
Wow, first time I've heard Toyah sing, she rocked it!
Where were you 40 years ago?
@@3rdmm Playing in a band and getting laid, you?
It's the Sunday lunches that have relaunched her 🎉
sure lol
@@3rdmmbanal comment, what has the date got to do with classic songs?
Someone has to get Fripp and Thompson on the same stage playing together. The greatest of the greatest! Worlds will collide!
Imagine "Bone Through Her Nose" with the Fripp treatment.
A tribute to Judy Dyble would be appropriate. Ever played "Brondesbury Tapes" back-to-back with the first FC album?
@@fabrikk60I absolutely agree omg that would be just too wonderful, just imagining ❤
I agree wholehearted Lee !
Magnifique. Grand fan de led zep, rarement entendu une reprise aussi belle. Bravo. Led zep n'est pas mort. 🤘
Celle de l’onj est bien plus intéressante
I love them .
Have always loved Toyah, love her even more now!!
Her voice adds some real depth to this classic... You go girl..!! 🤘😎🤘😎🤘
Youre joking right? Shes terrible theres no depth whatsoever No power Its shit
It's obvious they are TOTALLY in love and do this as a away to spread their love of music! I get giddy with JOY at their performances!
Great cover, really suits Toyah’s voice ❤
You know you have the right camera angle when the guy with the massive camera steps into your view.
Thank you so much for sharing this. I’ve been waiting to see them do Kashmir.
Watching from the States. Enjoyed Toyah & Robert’s Sunday Lunch during the pandemic and have been tagging along ever since.
Thanks for reading
LED ZEPPELIN….THE GREATEST ROCK BAND THE WORLD HAS EVER HEARD OR SEEN … peace
91.9 the best radio station in Bogotá- B 2:56 Barcelona- Panamá ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Outstanding! What a band and what a lead singer!
Check her out in the 1980
This just proves that what matters is artistry, the best compositions, the best musicians. You can have fun stuff you listen to by the next rank, but it never reaches the heights that really make it matter.
Quality and passion.
Great performance.
😢what a permanent it just blew me away blew me away.hauntingley amazing
Toyah sounding really great on this classic . Not easy to sing but herself and Robert and the band make light work of it. very good.
So I hear a Mellotrony thing going on here too, nice authentic touch. Bravo
Saw Led Zeppelin at Knebworth 1978 (?) - but tbf Fripp and Toyah did a great job. Brilliant.
79 - Aug 4th and 11th. I went to both.
I was at Knebworth. August 11th. Obviously for Zep and love Todd Rundgren too. @@susanstanleyhammond5699
79...
I was there
4th august/11th august 1979
Excellent video as usual from Watchawhile. Thanks for posting.
Great... as always... I wished I once could play along with these two incredible musicians
What a great arrangement and performance.
They have so much fun , I love their performances.
Simply awesome
I'm so proud of this couple!
Well done! ❤
❤
Fantastic
If I could be half as cool as the Fripps!!!!
I love it.
Well done Robert & Toyah! Bravo
Just fantastic wish I had been there
Damn, the sound quality is great for what I assume is not a professionally shot video... Kudos to whomever shot this...
This is one of my favs and I think you do it justice, and I can be picky :)
Will be attending Edinburgh concert on the 16th - hope to hear some more of these classic heavy rock songs. Toyah, Robert, and their band do such a fantastic job of them, absolute legends.
I was there. Totally and seriously impressed with their set 😊
......and great happiness in this whole project!
Me clapping here at home. That was emotional. Thank you all! :) Appreciated.
Fab to see a great team at work and play! Fripping and gripping magic!
the band sound absolutely magnificent
1:57 Note nailed. No autotune needed.
I have loved them two ever since the pandemic!! Very entertaining couple ❤
Unexpected but grateful and impressed; I never expected to hear one of my top 10 rock songs covered by one of my top 10 UA-cam heroes? 💞 Incredible vocals 🎤 orchestral nirvana 🎸🇬🇧
Toya was awsime in this!!, I could feel the amazing energy from her!
To all you young kids thinking you have good music today, think again, this is Toyah 'living the song', this is how real professional are, when you get to 75 as l am never be afraid to have tears in your eyes watching this.
Excellent.
increíble music with Toyah and Fripp
Lovely ⭐️
Wow! Outstanding
From « It’s a mystery » to « Kashmir »! Quelle talent madame Toyah!
Just seen this .oh the most amazing touching cover I have ever seen.what a amazing performance.
I watched spell bound. .❤
Art!! Artists interpreting other artists! And a good drummer, too! Frippology on parade!!
I heard Mr. Fripp in a small bar in Thayer, Illinois. Didn’t realize who I was listening to at the time. However, my comment to my friend is dang these guys are good. I think he was there as group called Boding-Fripp? It’s been 43 years so can’t fully remember
League of Gentlemen, perhaps?
Totally brilliant everybody!
Sorprendente, Robert un mito, la moglie una tipa tosta, più credibile del Plant degli ultimi 30 anni, BRAVI🥰
Great cover by you all. Cool to see Mr Fripp wearing the Bose QC35's(?), I'd have to do that if gigging these days too✌️💜
toyah you justified that song and the landscape behind it!!!!
What can I say. Surprises never stop. Simply great.
This is fantastic!
Out freaking standing!
Shivers down my spine all along the song, MAGNIFICO 👍💫✨
ons est juste de passage dans la vie , robert et toyah aurons connu une super période
Blimey!
Toyah,priceless British Icon, ageless, timeless,we love you❤
Speak for,yourself Shes hopeless
@@Jack-russell103they are speaking for themself, it's their post
First time I have heard her sing nice good cover
go Toyah great Job
What a voice!!!
Totally great rendition here, and fantastic performance by Toyah. Yes the Brummies certainly know their rock music!
❤❤Robert Fripp top....top ❤❤❤❤
Non ci siamo, manca la totale magia dei Led, amo Fripp💚 ma non può sempre essere perfetto.
There aren't many who could pull of a cover of this Zepp classic, but I think she might've done it!
And certainly the band have done a great job.
na she broke it
Standards have fallen
sounds like granny singing karoke
With you 👍🏻 Might have done it 🤷🏻♂️ not sure
Great interpretation !
Wow 😮
Brillant!!!!!
that was fun
Got some good laughs from the comments harshing Toya. If I was a betting person, I'd bet not a one of those commenters could sing a note to save their lives or have the guts to get up on a stage and perform anything in front of a live audience, let alone one with Robert Plant in it. The best thing about all those comments is that Toya won't give a flying f*ck thru a rolling donut about any of them. I don't know her, never met her, don't know her musical history, but I can recognize another singer when I hear one. I wish her all the best.
Well-said, mate. Personally, it annoys me when people speak objectively (“that was terrible”), as opposed to subjectively (“I didn’t like it”). It’s a sign of being quite inarticulate, at least, or obnoxiously arrogant, at worst. But they’re all terribly stupid in either case, lol.
Someday,I wish Mr.Bruford & Mr.Johnes would be there ❤️
That was really good
You gotta be back with more of this Robby and Toyah!
Brilliant🤩🤩🤩🤩😍🤩🤩
I wish we had got this in the set in Castleton. It much more suits her voice rather than relax and tainted love and would have been amazing to hear it in the cavern setting.
I was there, and didn't know what to expect from their set. I was rather impressed. I knew Fripp's capability, of course, but didn't realise what Toyah could do.
Love it. Comming to DK. Tobaksgården 5610 Assens
Toyah sings this exactly in Robert Plant's register - what a brilliant contralto she is, and what a brillian tenor Robert Plant.
YEAH!!!!
that was excellent!
What a great performance that was !
