Saw him in concert back in the late 80s and bloody funny, man is a genius of comedy. This is proper comedy that is actually funny 😆 Unlike the shizzle we get nowadays… No one in the olds days got upset or offended because everyone, anything was up for a piss take!!!! People were ACTUALLY HAPPY.

Hard to express the pleasure Fairport have brought to me. Unhalfbricking was the 2nd album I bought with my milkboy money.on the recommendation of the extraordinary Dave Hadfield, RIP. I'd no idea who they were but it remains one of my favourites. I was at one of their first live gigs in support of Liege and Lief, at Manchester U Student's Union. To see and hear them grow from then to now is only comparable to the luck of my dad, RIP, taking me to see the 1960s Man U most every home game from 63 to 70. Who was to know, in both instances, that i was witnessing genius? I got to meet Swarb in Bury about 2015 ish, again thanks to Hadfield, in a reunion with Martin Carthy. Sublime. Despite ill-health Swarb was magnificent. (As, of course, was Carthy.)

When you're in the mood, you listen to this and then wake up. Thank you for sharing.

I specifically searched for "dubliners whiskey in the jar cropredy" and was surprised to find this. :D My first Cropredy, travelled from Finland just for the festival and got the greatest souvenir as Dave Pegg's (honestly, not the most stylish :D ) hat landed on my lap.

Passing a blindfold test I'd answer the wonderful californian group It's A Beautiful Day backing an angel. No disrespect to Fairport Convention of course.

What a wonderful album. I was a spotty student at Plymouth Poly in 1973 when a flatmate first played this to me. 51 years later, it's still on my turntable and Cropredy beckons every year...

Even the magnificent Julie Fowlis can't match Sandy's set - but that's no disgrace. Sandy's performance is like being touched by the gods themselves. I'm a hoary old folkie, but I can never hear it without tearing up. If you don't know it, search it out. You can thank me later.
