- One of the great aspects of shooting with Fujifilm X cameras is the JPEG colours they produce, but did you know that you can tailor those settings to make new looks and save those as new presets in your camera? In this video I show you how.
Not much time today to make a video so sorry if it feels a little rushed :) While you are here please Subscribe: bit.ly/SubToKi...
Plenty of X-Photographers have published their own settings for these custom profiles and David Triregno has done a great job of presenting them in one place. He has uploaded them into a Google Doc that you can download or view & I’ll link that in the description below so you can have a look through and play about with them:

Hi the Doc doesn't work anymore. any new one you can share?

Thanks for sharing the link with us. My mind just got blown away.
Straight to the point. Thanks.
Very helpful, thank you. Is it possible to view these settings in the files by custom name? In other words, when reviewing images in playback mode, is it possible to see what custom settings you used? I am only able to see the individual settings (i.e. highlights, film simulation, dynamic range, etc) and not the custom name. Thanks!
Not in the camera, you’d need to make notes but that would be good to see in the days alright
@@kimfarrelly ok thanks again
Massive help as I just got X-Pro 2. Just a question, do edited White balance stay changed in our saved settings? or do we have to change the white balance everytime?
Thank you for putting this video out
WB can be saved into the custom preset, try setting a K value and save that.
Very clear, thank you. Is there any way to also save the white balance settings into those custom settings ? It seems to me that it has to be adjusted manually.
Yes you should be able to select what WB you want and save it to a custom setting. If you scroll down in the Edit Custom Settings menu you'll be able to see White Balance as a setting.
Hello! I was wondering if you knew if there was a may to carry over my shooting setting (iso, shutter speed) for each of the custom profiles because I would be shooting and i sometimes just want to switch up my custom profile very quickly to get a different film look but retain the same shooting settings
No as yet with the cameras, the exposure is separated from the custom settings as they really don’t effect that. I don’t see that changing any time either.
Hello there and thanks for sharing that info. Just looked at the link but file is not there any more. Will it work for my XT2?? Thanks
Yep they’ll work great on your X-T2 and for the link see the top pinned post (reply to it has a new link).
Question - after you save those custom settings, is there a way to go back to the base w/o the custom settings and shoot the base too? In case I wanted to take a photo using the custom setting I made and also take a photo using the camera's default base for that film stock.
Not really but if you set one of the customs to a default and use the quick menu 'Q' to change sim as you need that'll give you the basic settings. You can reset any of the custom back to standard in the menu. IQ>Edit Save Custom Settings> [select the one you want to change] > Reset. That reset is the last option.
@@kimfarrelly Ok cool, I guess I could just keep C1 clean and then use that one and scroll between the default film sims if I want to use them and then just use C2-6 for my custom ones. Thanks for responding!
what is the camera used in this video Kim?
That’s a Fuji X-PRO 2
Thank you so much!
Can you only set up customization for shooting in jpeg or is it possible to have custom EXIF settings for shooting in Raw? Example might be Landscape vs. small bird photography?
These are for in camera JPEG, that would be great though, to get the look of the custom JPEGs in raw format.
Now I know why save current settings did not work when setting up via the menu. Thanks
They really need to change save to apply in that menu for sure. Glad it helped.
Hi Kim, is there any way in movie mode to save shutter speed, fps, etc in custom settings?
Not possible because of the dials and their markings, you can set silent movie mode if your camera has that, it will separate your video settings from the dials. Would be great if Fuji included shutter angle in the video menu taking shutter speed out of the video settings & it remembered a default 180 of something...
Been trying to do this on my xt20. Its driving me crazy. Clearly I must be missing something
Usually hitting the back button before saving is the most missed thing.??
xt20 doesn´t have the option og change the name you have to record in memory "c1" over a standart or other simulation=/ its not so intuitive and doesn´t have so many options like a xtrans Iv sensor cameras=(
Yep plenty of limiting factors
How can I save the whole spreadsheet?
File>Download as. See here: support.google.com/docs/answer/49114?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en
David's database covert X-TRANS III and X-TRANS IV recipes.
So, these custom settings profiles are only good for pictures, right? You see, in movie mode, the camera has more movie-related settings (e.g. HDMI settings, among others), but these settings are not available in custom profiles. There's no way to tell the camera that you want C1, for example, to be video-based, rather than image-based (in terms of availability of overall settings). Am I wrong on this?
You can set up the sims in stills mode and select the one you want to use, then turn to video mode and it should be available.
@@kimfarrelly Ιt's not available here. There are HDMI settings that aren't available under C. And there's no way to tell the camera that you want these C settings to be video-based. I have the X-S10 btw (similar to X-T4 in terms of menus).
@@EugeniaLoli Oh an X-S10, that has a different set up with its custom menus that might not follow the same design as the X-PRO2 or X-T3/4 etc. There is a more limited amount of options you can assign to the Custom Sims with the X-S10. So the method in this video might not apple to your camera.
