But they don't make it wireless. You need to read an sd card? Here an adapter for it. You need to plug in standard usb-type A device? Here an adapter for it. You need to plug in your favorite 3.5 jack headphones? Here an adapter for it. You need to plug in your new fucking iphone? Here an adapter for it. Adaptors are not the future. Apple legitimately make money from removing stuff and then force dudes to pay for them. I don't need such future, thx
So now I cant, charge my phone, plug in an external drive, upload photos via SD card, or use any monitor; even Apples display, because that uses an older thunderbolt connector. But I can send emojis without using my mouse and rotate photos. Seems totally worth it. Oh and for only 400 more.
Why are you still complaining?! Just buy the older model it's x100 better! I'm just pretending this is an improved 12 inch MacBook because a Pro model would need all the stuff a pro needs.
Jason Rothfeld i know but still its not like you would have to do that stff all the time. It makes it sounds like the only reasonyou buy a computar is to do that shit, nothing else. Im planning to buy the new mabook pro with touchpad, and ill just use those think macbook bags to put the dongle in whenever i go somewhere. And when im at home and need to attach something, hopefully it wont be too hard to grab the dongle attach it, and attach whatever i need to attach.
Ayshish B Funny seeing as how this has nothing to do with either Android or iOS. If you're tired of "fanboys" make sure they're the right one. In this case Windows would be more appropriate, since Macs compete with Windows machines, not Android.
Md.Nazmul Alam Evan Yeah I said that with every bit of sarcasm. To be fair, a user deciding to do wired sync isn't very common anymore. It's more just ridiculous because now you can't use the laptop to charge your phone.
Md.Nazmul Alam Evan iOS devices use airdrop or iCloud Drive normally. Wifi is 867mbps which is plenty fast anyway. No one uses iTunes for anything period.
$1,099 gets you the base 2.7GHz/8GB/128GB Retina 13", $1,189 gets you the 256GB SSD. Direct from Apple. I don't see that being a bad deal at all, personally...
JollyGamerHD Even if the laptop could beat a Windows PC with the same specs for editing, the Windows PC would be way cheaper. You could find a much faster laptop for the same price. also, if you were to settle for a desktop and focus only on editing, you could easily fit a 6 or 8 core i7 into it, or go used and get dual Xeons with 16-20 cores.
Macbooks are amazing, my model from 2009 is still working well but I was looking to upgrade. Sadly this model lacks the "pro" aspect of the laptop and the adapters cost an incredible amount of money on top of this expensive laptop. Magsafe going is also a huge step backwards, it saved my laptop a countless amount of times.
@0xeis. Man, you are a very typical Fanboy, aren't you ? Always ready to give answers, which are ... i might say .. well .... VERY DUM. What i can see is that you are just interested in design, i can give you that. But workability and performance wise, men you suck .... Seriously. Because if i buy one of those fancy laptop, i wanna be able to compete aigainst the same priced hardware and design (e.g RAZER, XPS ..). You can buy it just for the design though, but that would be like throwing you wallet out of a window. But if that is what you want, just do it. I cannot tell you what to do with your money. But what i can tell you is that THOSE NEW MACKBOOKS SUCK ! AND I'M SO VERY SORRY FOR YOU ....
Apple are now officially a joke. Would it have hurt you to include just 1 standard USB-3 port and a glowing logo + a magnetic charger??? Steve is probably turning in his grave.
I agree with the charger (magSAFEty) and the logo (although a gimmick) - the USB 3.0 port is a 'design' question for the future. I understand your frustration, but they choose for future, not for now. They won't change this design in 2 years. By that time, everybody is fully using USB C (which is twice as fast). I was frustrated that the headphone jack was gone on iPhone 7, now I'm happy! Just bought a 15£ headphone. Much better than the stupid wire. I expect the same experience with the next macbook, which I will most certainly buy (base model 2016 (2.0i5 is much faster (processor and ssd) than topmodel 2015 (3,1 i7 and 2015 ssd) - I'll adapt to the ports for that (adapters are like 2£, no problem!) - I think steve would be proud. He also was obsessed with thinner - he invented this obsession !
Alex Chen Not everyday tasks, at least not everyone. Pretty stupid assumption. Video editing, coding, photo editing, work related stuff can all be done. You can do everything a Windows pc can do. Gaming doesn't work well though haha.
omar717 It's not like the MacBook Pro has the most powerful processor. You can get a laptop with similar performance for 500 dollars or less. The most valuable part in a Mac is the logo. The Apple logo. That's why people buy Macs. Say what you want, it's the truth.
As someone who uses the USB port for live view in my camera for stop motion, and is buying new, I'm definitely going with the 2015. I can't afford the potential unreliability of adapters, and the "upgrades" aren't good enough to merit the high price point, especially considering that the 2015s will be dropping their price point any time now. I could understand this being good for someone who travels, but for someone who does all of their shooting, and editing within a 5'x10' area, portability is next to nothing to me.
- No MagSafe - Only two ports - Dongles needed for everything - Shittier keyboard - Underpowered CPU compared to the other MacBook Pro 13" - Presented as a MacBook Air replacement, priced as a MacBook Pro nah
Why do you people keep talking about bloody gaming laptops? They are a completely different category! People buy this for battery life, lightness, portability - none of which a gaming laptop can touch.
Tracomaster Maybe for you, but for someone like myself not at all. I only need to plug in maybe one thing, a mouse/trackball to help with 3d stuff. Other than that, I have nothing I need to plug into in on a regular basis. My data is in the cloud, I have access to fast, stable wifi and it has a headphone socket, with speakers, webcam and mic all built in. I don't have need for anything else on a regular basis.
The New Razer Blade is a better deal for what your getting, and is also better than the surface book for the money. I don't think over $1000 on all spec'd out versions, is worth it just for ios or surface's touchscreen. ps the blade has a touchscreen as well and a gtx 1060 for gaming.
You'll have to haul an incredibly heavy 16 ounce backpack to carry all the port adapters and hubs you'll need for modern standards alongside your 17% thinner macbook pro. In 5 years from now, the ports the macbook pro will sort of be mainstream (although older ports will still be common for most people, I am saying you'll see Thunderbolt and USB-C flash drives at bestbuy . . . ), however, your Macbook Pro won't end up being future proof because new ports . . . Your Macbook Pro is using a dual core CPU, one that's pitifully slow in 2021. You'll have to buy another $1,700 netbook-level foolishly futureproof while obsolete Macbook Pro. Oh, and you'll pout, stomp, and trip over your power cord when you realize the version of Photoshop you need is too new. Mag safe is gone. Your Macbook will explode. ;)
I am soooo sorry if this is offensive but I can't help but say this.. you say "however" all the damn time and it's driving me crazy. But I love your videos. You've earned my sub.
Why did you not mention that this suppose to be for pros and yet it only has a dual core processor and no *dedciated gpu(?!) and only 8gb of ram. For something that is a fifth of what an in state college year costs this is insane
Bradley Simonson It doesn't need one, nor would it fit into the thin chassis. With a brain that small, I don't think you're a pro, so this isn't the computer for you.
TheAdrianGarza Are you serious? Because I don't think you know what your talking about. Also it wouldn't be that hard for them to put it in. The blade pro another thin laptop has a full 1080 in it and remains small. I'll sacrifice a few millimeters for performance. Thats stupid
The touch bar version should have been the only version, they're really squeezing the money out of people more than ever. I'm starting to become really put off by apple lately.
Thank you Austin.. I really enjoy your videos because I feel they are honest and a true representation of your opinion rather than what manufactures would want you to say
Over a year has passed and I got this with a cheaper model in late 2017. It cuts off about $200 and you get a 128 GB SSD rather than a 256. When I first got this, a few things about it worried me right off the bat like the new keyboard and the giant trackpad. It was so enormous that I thought it was going to bug me so much. Only after a week of using it, I got used to everything that I thought was going to be terrible at first and I actually prefer the butterfly switches over a normal keyboard and having that giant trackpad doesn't get in the way that much, or at all even. My typing on a normal keyboard has actually decreased ever since I got this, heh. You would think that having only two USB-C ports would be an issue, but it honestly isn't. Yes, I needed to buy a USB-C to USB-A adapter and a USB port hub, but it wasn't that much of an issue personally. Honestly if there's anything I have to complain about, it's probably the battery. If I'm doing standard stuff like watching UA-cam or chatting on Discord (which is what I use this laptop for about 80% of the time), it's fine. I can get a few hours on it before going to grab the charger. With heavier tasks like video editing and gaming (light gaming of course because if you're buying a MacBook Pro, your first priority should definitely not be gaming), obviously the battery will drain faster, but with a simple edit in iMovie, the battery lasted me a little under 3 hours or so. A minor complaint is the 720p webcam, especially with how grainy it is. But I rarely use it, so oh well. Honestly I can say that this MacBook Pro is worth it. There are quite a few positive things about it like the previously mentioned keyboard and trackpad that make me ignore the negatives. Like Austin mentioned, the speakers are pretty solid and the screen is incredible. If you're looking for a MacBook, I'd definitely give this one a shot. In its price range, your other options would be the MacBook Air and the MacBook 2016. The Air is a big deal breaker due to the screen and low specs, but it is the cheapest one you can get starting at $1000, and the MacBook 2016 has only one USB-C port, but it's one of the thinnest and most portable laptops you can buy. The Macbook Pro 2016 has hit the sweet spot in between those two for me.
It will double the speed. Amazing performances. It will process both 0 and 1 at the same time like a quantum computer. No-one have realized or tried this yet.
ive been waiting for years to upgrade my 2013 mac air which I love, apple keep fucking around, how the fuck am I meant to downgrade without USB and SD slot which I use on a daily basis, no I'm not carrying an extra cable around for each slots. They need to give what people want, not force us to use what they make and call it beautiful, the best ever..blah blah. apple can get fucked. seriously , I'm over this shit.
drdj69 oo you didn't kno ? Apple doesn't care about its customers, they care about profits. Stop asking apple for stuff. They kno they can push out any shitty thing they like and you apple flock will rush to buy it anyway. They realised that, they're now taking advantage of it and now you wanna wisen up ? Apple is not gonna care about you as long as u spend ur money on their outdated shit without even thinking
Go for the 2015 model. Definitely. It's an easy decision, it has ports, SD card slot and more. This new MacBook "Pro" doesn't have any of that. But I guess it's up to personal preference. This is just my opinion.
I can't believe this junk! Seriously! What are Apple fanpeople doing buying this overpriced product!? They're just enabling Apple to keep doing it! First they get rid of dvd/blu ray drives. Then the headphone jacks. Now the standard universal ports??!! For pieces of hardware you can easily get at a third of the price? Where does any of this make sense??
Edgar Larios All angry Microsoft fanboys said the same when Apple change all usb 1 port to usb 2 ... It's time to change sorry if apple is in the future and concurrent in the past
ZAYREZ I don't see how. Most of what I criticized them for is for their most recent stuff. No headphone jack on their phone is not the same criticism as USB 2.0, especially when we already have the option to have wired or wireless as we please. Plus, 2.0 was backwards compatible. Lighting and on just alienated their ecosystem, which is brilliant as a business execution, but stupid for everyone else.
USB-C *is* a standard and universal port. Its a great move they included them, since its becoming more and more popular. But I also think that one USB-A port, the MagSafe and SD Card Reader should have been kept on board.
Personally I don't feel it deserves the "pro" title, I know Apple have used that to signify their "flagship" product. But this is very much a consumer level product, not aimed at pro-sumers, not aimed at professional content creators. One massive issue that Louis Rossmann uncovered while he performed a review on it was that while having a HDMI adaptor and camera attached to it, the computers internet just disabled itself. (he even tested this with the 2015 model and with another windows laptop to make sure it was neither the camera, the OS or the adaptor was the problem.) The machine even performed much slower when connecting USB storage. Which means anyone actually wanting to use this as a work grade computer, is going to run into issues. Because you'll want to connect devices to it, you'll want to use external storage from time to time. And if it's going to react to it like this, it's not going to be usable.
Great review Austin. I just picked up last years MacBook Pro. I dont believe I got the older version. But I can agree with the whole ports things especially a person coming from a PC. I was looking for something that will last and not break like Dell. Watching your video put some comfort on the decision I made today. Now just getting used to having a Mac.

My Razer Blade stealth offers wayyyy more power and ports and awesome gaming performance specially paired with the core, and still cheaper than the 1800.00 model.
I wanted an updated air. Already have a gaming desktop. I wanted a light thing to carry around that didn't run iOS. Phil was wrong about the base pro being a suitable replacement for those interested in the air, which starts at $999.
bolo santosi I'm talking about the 12" one. It has just one USB C though. But Apple will never make USB A ports again, so that's about it. I'm prepared to say Apple will never make a Air replacement again. They will kill the 11" Air soon and make their line up this: MacBook 12" (Air 11" replacement) MacBook Pro 13" w/o TB (Air 13" replacement) MacBook Pro 13" MacBook Pro 15"
my dad gifted me the upgraded model, and I'm typing this comment on it and I'm sad. The keyboard doesn't have travel and the spacebar key has stopped pressing in. Still works, but I wanted the LG Gram tbh
So the processor in last year's model is essentially the same as the one is the new model? And you're giving up ports? Forget that. Anyone in their right mind would buy the older one for the cheaper price. Even if you have money to burn, the older model almost seems like the better option.
Did you miss the bit where he showed the price is almost the same when you upgrade the old model to the same size storage? And for that you're getting much, much faster storage and a better screen? So if everything else is the same, you're better off getting the new model....
So, it's essentially a media consumption expensive machine with no real pro features. Just look at the chipset: old gen! No useful ports nor SD reader for pros (you know, to connect to a projector, or for photographs, etc.). But, hey, at least they improved on a Lenovo gimmick they used some years ago, the touchbar (and what about pro people programming, coding, and actually using those keys? gone!). You know, next iteration will reintroduce those features and call it an innovation. They really are pro.
Kartheyan Sivalingam, hi, I understand your point of view and hope you are right. What concerns me is, on one side the fragmentation of commands that one person has to remember (they change depending on the software running foreground), and the fact that not every developer or dev house will implement those changes properly, and the experience of using the touchbar (still dependant on the program) might result less than pro on every level. Another way to say it, is that there are too many compromises into these new machines. That said, only time and devs good will will tell us.
Billie Frankie Joe, or you can buy a gaming laptop, which nowadays comes in thin and powerful versions from manufacturers like Razer or Msi and blow new Mac pro specs out of the water (not to mention that you might end up paying less for a more competitive device).
Billie Frankie Joe, you so right ^_^ I recently built a NUC for myself and it's not only satisfying, but the skull version is also quite powerful. And that is just a toy! (btw, there's a hackintosh for it)
Then you have two options: never upgrade your mac again, or switch to windows. Unfortunately it seems that every macbook is now switching to the polished one.
"Well, you see, we removed the glowing Apple logo because that allowed us to make the screen .000001nm thinner, which no human being will ever notice, but we still did this because all we care about now is compromising everything to make it thinner and lighter." -Tim Cok 2016
+Metrix The glowing logo didn't make any impact on battery life, and it was just so damn cool and kind of distinguished the MacBooks from other laptops. Now their going down the shitty "thinner and lighter" road, so they got rid of it because there isn't all that much that separates the new MacBook Pro from any other laptop. The only thing really is that they still have a quality OS, unlike Windows 10. But as soon as they go the touchscreen route, their company will be dead as far as computers. PLEASE Apple, don't go touchscreen any time soon!!!!!! It ruined Windows, and it could ruin macOS or the Mac product line!!! D:
SeemsLegitGaming fist of all, i appreciate all the time you spent writing that, and also i dont think they did it for that, it just looks cleaner with out it. Especially with space gray and rose gold.
From all tree vids I saw on the new mbp with team crisp, mkbhd and tld, you did the best job by far with your vid. Ok, set up and cinematics they still win. But your content was way better. Nice one! Really useful info and comparison. Got to agree that those discounted last year models look really good atm.
It's official; *Apple has officially no idea who the 2016 MBP is for*. Graphic designers and Audio/Video producers? Nope. The Touch Bar might be a step in the right direction, but competitors like the Surface have offered an entire Touch Display for years (and let's face it, if your content is on the screen, WHY would you want to interact with it in a separate, tiny touch bar rather than just on the entire display? smh...) Power users? Nope, thanks to the removal of almost every *essential* I/O port (USB C might be the future, but for the time being it's nothing more than a dongle-requiring nuisance) and the top of the line MBP 2016 model actually being *SLOWER* than 2015's model. Average consumers just looking for the Apple "it just works" mantra? Nope, thanks to now just plugging in your iPhone 7 to charge and listen to music on either of them now both require a *DONGLE*. Seriously Apple, wtf is wrong with you? There is nothing "Pro" about this gimped, shitty DongleBook "Pro", specially when the base model *without* a Touch bar starts at $1,500 while the Surface Book offers drastically more functionality for only $1,200. Seriously...WTF Apple?!
***** If you're comparing the thinnest side of the Macbook Air, im pretty sure no other laptop can beat it. However, it isn't a viable comparison. The new Macbook pro has better speakers, processors, screen, keyboard, track pad, and basically everything. Just watching "reviews" aren't going to justify a certain product. The specifications tell most of the story
errr...not sure if you noticed buddy, but the 2016 Macbook Pro's top end model has worse overall CPU performance than last years as shown here; goo.gl/nsmB9U Of course, you'd know this if you actually analyzed what it had to offer instead of just parroting around information you read on the internet. Also, even the biggest of apple fans are recognizing Apple has officialy no idea who the MBP 2016 is for. Just read; medium.com/charged-tech/apple-just-told-the-world-it-has-no-idea-who-the-mac-is-for-722a2438389b#.rfi3wtbw6 Touch bar? Cute, but rivaling competitors like the Surface have had entire Touch displays since years ago. (It's like Apple is almost intentionally fucking with us, don't you think?) USB-C? Great, but why on earth would connectng an iPhone 7 or using iPhone 7 earbuds require a dongle? Sorry, but enough is enough. And before you ask, no, I don't hate Apple (I've used their products in the past and they are awesome), but you have to be batshit insane if you think the 2016 MBP has anything "Pro" about it compared to last year's model and it's competitors, specially the 13" model.
James Hu if you ask me, I don't think the Macbook Pro 2016 is a bad product, it's just that combined with the fact it didn't meet just about anyone's expectations, for the first time, Apple finally has direct competition in the innovation department (from Microsoft with the Surface Book, and now Surface Studio) and it's quickly being left behind. Not to mention that now that Microsoft is offering arguably better products for less (The Surface Book and Pro start at under $1200 USD), everyone, including Apple fans, are starting to question themselves if Apple's pricing actually makes sense in 2016.
Why do every reviewer says the keyboard is adjustable. Its unacceptable for 1500$ laptop. On one side - Thinkpad works tirelessly to make typing experience better even managing 1.86mm travel on such a thin device with drain holes. Here on the other hand, it gets worse. Why don't someone fire the design team at Apple.
Harshal Dongre is it just me or does anyone else just want a "boring" upgrade. As in just upgrade the screen a bit and internals/performance. Honestly I could care less about the "thinness" of the laptop. This MacBook Pro should really be branded as a MacBook Air. They could make a heftier one with all the ports Pro consumers need.
Ryan Huang Actually Ryan I think that apple is moving away from the Professional and only focusing on the PRO-SUMER and more towards the youtubers. Check out the review by Johnathan Morrison - Its horrible, fanboisym to the extreme. I do agree with you, Its just a MacBook Air. Here in India - the 13 inch touch bar version costs 1.7Lakh Rupees. Its horrendous and forget about the 15 inch version. Not its just a glorified Apple product - Tim Cook is leaving no stone unturned to make sure that Apple becomes only a Kool-Aid.
ikr !!! i cant believe Johnathan gave that kind of review !!! feels like he was paid to say that. I was like , OMF NO NO NO WTF IS HE SAYING !!! hahahaha
I mean, I own both a great Lenovo laptop for the heavy use, and the new macbook pro. So I can speak for both here. While the Lenovo is great performance wise, it feels cheap, looks cheap, and definitely is made of cheap parts (keep in mind it is still made of full metal). The touchpad stopped working on the lenovo after a month, and it has terrible battery (around 45 minutes on high performance). The macbook is great pretty much all around when it comes to build quality, I don't really need any of the ports since I use it as a school/photo editing laptop, and the battery lasts all day without me having to charge it. When it comes to the Keyboard I personally prefer the Macbook pro keyboard as well, and I use a mechanical keyboard at home. The Lenovo's keyboard is unresponsive and feels flimsy. Both laptops costs about the same.
You will definitely feel its lightness, not just due to its weight but also your emptiness you can feel in your pocket.
Hahahahaha
your're not the target customer then
Let's call it a win-win situation. The first for you, the second for Apple.

Søren Strøyberg Indeed! I applaud you, sir!
2010 - There's an app for that!
2016 - There's an adapter for that!
😂 nice one. I'll make ths a meme😂
Captain Obvious plz
i don't get 2010, what was it ?
Wireless is bad for you.
www.healthylivingstyle.net/wi-fi-a-silent-killer-that-kills-us-slowly/
But they don't make it wireless. You need to read an sd card? Here an adapter for it. You need to plug in standard usb-type A device? Here an adapter for it. You need to plug in your favorite 3.5 jack headphones? Here an adapter for it. You need to plug in your new fucking iphone? Here an adapter for it. Adaptors are not the future. Jason Rothfeld You pretty much nailed it. Don't forget that new shitty keyboard. Hey at least you get a headphone jack. Apple is totally lost!
Why are you still complaining?! Just buy the older model it's x100 better! I'm just pretending this is an improved 12 inch MacBook because a Pro model would need all the stuff a pro needs.
Jason Rothfeld bro just buy a dongle, dont act like its impossible to connect that stuff.
SerialKillerX EVERYTHING WOULD NEED A DONGLE!!!!!!

Austin Evans is clearly worth it...
Ayshish B Funny seeing as how this has nothing to do with either Android or iOS. If you're tired of "fanboys" make sure they're the right one. In this case Windows would be more appropriate, since Macs compete with Windows machines, not Android.
This isn't a Macbook Pro for PROfessionals. This is a Macbook Pro for PROfits.
You can see the background going darker as the video progresses.
Nicely spotted!

I'm glad I'm not the only person who noticed. It was annoying at the end. However the video is pretty nice. However it was annoying as fuck.
That's something he needs to handle better. Nice video but poor language, there are several conjunctive adverbs to use. Constructive criticism :)
I thought i was the only one that really really noticed that.. :))
Jorge Arturo Morales Vidal Wow... Really? Grammar Natzi's? What a fun date you must be correcting your dates grammar.
Austin, would you recommend a refurb 2015 13" over this? Significantly cheaper at $1,099. Thoughts?
Not a bad move.

you've said that already
$1,099 gets you the base 2.7GHz/8GB/128GB Retina 13", $1,189 gets you the 256GB SSD. Direct from Apple. I don't see that being a bad deal at all, personally...
The answer is no .... ok go do something useful now
like build a GAMING PC
Marauder Shields lol I think someone buying a laptop is going to be on the move
Reverse then buy a razer blade stealth
*****
someone buying this overpriced crap clearly has money to spare, so why not build a fantastic pc alongside a cheap lenovo laptop
yes
This guy says "however" every ten seconds! *TRIGGERED*
Haha... I thought the same thing. It's consistent throughout a lot of his videos! I reckon a thesaurus is in order :P
.
Sfad Hjkl more like "Hoo-wever" :P
Better build a 1000$ PC than building this overpriced piece of tech like if you agree.
Kevin Yoo Same here
Ok buy a better and a bit cheaper one like surface pro.
no it reallly isnt
Rock Gamer Everyone knows that, but hey if someone truly feels like getting this then let them
JollyGamerHD Even if the laptop could beat a Windows PC with the same specs for editing, the Windows PC would be way cheaper. You could find a much faster laptop for the same price. also, if you were to settle for a desktop and focus only on editing, you could easily fit a 6 or 8 core i7 into it, or go used and get dual Xeons with 16-20 cores.
Enjoy your videos a lot Austin!☺️☺️☺️
👊
Austin Evans I come here and 2 secs ago
"Its thinner and on top of that its thinner" WTF
It's always thinner with Apple. You pay more for less. Output is the same though.
rawstarmusic I don't give a crap how thin my device is as long as it isn't super thick. You could use that space to add a bigger battery, Apple.
Ha ha.... btw check out Acer Swift 7. Thinnest laptop ever...
Thinner in width, and thinner in height
Macbooks are amazing, my model from 2009 is still working well but I was looking to upgrade. Sadly this model lacks the "pro" aspect of the laptop and the adapters cost an incredible amount of money on top of this expensive laptop. Magsafe going is also a huge step backwards, it saved my laptop a countless amount of times.
You said however 17 times, you're addicted :D
罪 He literally is addicted. like he litterally is.
As soon as i read this he said however
罪 feels like 117
It was actually 21. I think he said "so" much more though, I lost count.
If you are looking for so however, you have come to the right place.
Apple failed on this one. The absurdity of not being able to connect my brand new iPhone 7 with the brand new MacBook is inexplicable
Courage is often inexplicable.
This has nothing to do with courage_ it is a question of madness.
you missed the courage joke.
yeah, you can't even use your lightning earpods with your mac.
maclove 52 look up when Apple said it took 'courage' to remove the headphone jack
A 'pro' laptop without a dedicated GPU? I don't think so.
It's a joke on so many levels I would never consider buying one
If you're using pro software like the Adobe suite I would want a dedicated GPU. The Adobe creative suite greatly benefits from CUDA.
There is a dGPU in the 15 inch but its a low tier dGPU...even the upgraded dGPU the Radeon Pro 460 is still low tier.
I'm a "pro" (professional software engineer) and I have no need for dedicated graphics.
Apple are now officially a joke. Would it have hurt you to include just 1 standard USB-3 port and a glowing logo + a magnetic charger??? Steve is probably turning in his grave.
EN Sphere: You're a complete imbecile.
I like it ;-) - Really ! Now I'm stupid? hahaha
EN Sphere - I don't care what you think - your opinion doesn't matter ;-)
+EN Sphere oh really it's up to people if they like it and THEY buy so fuck off
People buy Macs for everyday tasks.
You can do everyday tasks on a 400$ laptop.
WHY BUY A MAC.
***** sorry I meant 500 dollars less. And for 1000 there definitely is.
***** and ur pricing is completely off.
***** I don't expect someone with an apple logo for their profile pic to see the complete picture anyway
Let me guess, thinner and lighter?
KentPlayerHD and more expenis
KentPlayerHD with less ports
lmao literally his first 2 words about it.
take a shot everytime he says however, pls try not to die 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
damn he changed from "solid" to "however"
Wanted to post the same comment
Only Jim Lahey could play that game and live.
Why do I feel like Apple is just going to make an underpowered and even more overpriced laptop every year ????!??!!!!!!!
Come on Apple !!!!!!!
Whitt Joyce because the overwhelming majority of Apple's fanbase doesn't know Jack shit about computers :(
Whitt Joyce I have no problem with power, just the over-price part 😔
MacBook Pro 2018; a brand new, Apple-designed single-core CPU at 512mhz, 256 mb of RAM, and 64kb of vRAM, for just $7999.99!
its all about battery life,,, having 500mhz is 30 ish second gain from encoding vs 30-1h more battery life.. you pick
Give me all the ports back & I got 2000 dollars for you apple !
Just get a $2000 windows laptop and put OSX on it haha
Same here lol
exacly what im thinking :(
+Jake Smith that's a downgrade imo
Sadly we know that ain't never happening.
Who else has a 2.5 year old US$1100 laptop that completely out performs this laptop and has an HDMI, SD and USB type A port?
T.E.D. de Medici me
running linux my friend
aaron0791 mine is running linux mint 18
Pretty sure it doesn't have the battery life as this one tho
I built a pc a year ago cost $800 that beats the sh*t out of the $2000 MacBook
AUSTIN, ARE YOU WORTH IT!?
I HOPE SO
Austin Evans lmao, you da man 😂
Zer0zUNLTD. lmfao... i was literally wating for someone to say that...
TRUE! And for that review i will get the 2015 MacBook Pro, thanks for a good review.
Same
Same.
is the macbook pro 2017 gonna remove the headphone jack?
GreenKid200000 / Alex Torrealba they going to remove every single port
black cat Well if they end up removing the headphone jack i'll be fucking pissed because im an apple iphone owner
no ports? you need external HUB that connect via wifi and cost you another 500$
everything will be bluetooth!
electronics for fun Even charging your laptop is bluetooth!
anything made by apple isnt worth it lol
Cartman You've obviously never used their products
Roczamillion7777 And you've obviously never used your brain
Roczamillion7777 I did and I agree with his statement
ahaha A car is worth 5000$ not a shitty ass underpowered laptop with a overgrown trackpad
lol we got an edgy 12 year old here
As someone who uses the USB port for live view in my camera for stop motion, and is buying new, I'm definitely going with the 2015. I can't afford the potential unreliability of adapters, and the "upgrades" aren't good enough to merit the high price point, especially considering that the 2015s will be dropping their price point any time now. I could understand this being good for someone who travels, but for someone who does all of their shooting, and editing within a 5'x10' area, portability is next to nothing to me.
wowow you really improved the production quality since the last time i saw a video of yours. nice job!!
- No MagSafe
- Only two ports
- Dongles needed for everything
- Shittier keyboard
- Underpowered CPU compared to the other MacBook Pro 13"
- Presented as a MacBook Air replacement, priced as a MacBook Pro
nah
with the price of 1499 to 1699 for a mediocre cpu and gpu i would rather put my money on a good gaming laptop
Why do you people keep talking about bloody gaming laptops? They are a completely different category! People buy this for battery life, lightness, portability - none of which a gaming laptop can touch.
Michael Garry the thing is that the "pro" series should be pro and not the thinnest and lightest garbage.
Tracomaster I agree this model should not be named pro, but it's hardly garbage for what it is.
Michael Garry with two usb-c ports, I'd call it borderline useful. the rest is cool, but the ports are a dealbreaker
Drinking game - Take a shot whenever he says "however". Be forewarned - Alcohol poisoning is extremely likely.
I literally was waiting for Austin's review since the second this thing came out.
overpriced and underpowered
icyweiner11
Like most Apple products...
FirstName LastName yes, the iPhone 7 is THW fastest phone ever
True
Labroski because of the software, the hardware is underpowered
FirstName LastName
The New Razer Blade is a better deal for what your getting, and is also better than the surface book for the money. I don't think over $1000 on all spec'd out versions, is worth it just for ios or surface's touchscreen. ps the blade has a touchscreen as well and a gtx 1060 for gaming.
***** thanks for the correction i had made a comment previously regarding the dell inspiron 7559 which has the gtx 960m and had a brain fart :)
Yes it would be if it did have MacOS...
One for you Americans, it is. But here in Canada, it is 2500 for the base 256gb razer blade compared to the 1800 macbook
Jerry Hou in israel apple is taxed for 25% more so it really is overpriced as hell... iphone 7 32 gb is 1000$
The new Razer Blade Also has half the battery of the the macbook pro. A better competitor would be the Surface Book or an ASUS Zenbook
Thinner lighter more portable yaaaay!
But wait theres more. i need dongles for usb A and a card slot. will that compromise portability?
Your Macbook will explode.
;)
One thing I like about the new Macbook Pro is that I can purchase the older 2015 model for cheaper now than the 2015 model's launch price.
:)
Angelo John Villas For school, you can get out of doing a presentation. "Miss, I forgot my dongle, I can't present today"
Killer Memestar hahahahaha now were talking 😂😂😂
Angelo John Villas IKR, one of the idiots in my class bought a MacBook Pro and got out of doing his presentation
So far your review is the most honest! Thank you!
I am soooo sorry if this is offensive but I can't help but say this..
you say "however" all the damn time and it's driving me crazy. But I love your videos. You've earned my sub.
I thought I was the only one who noticed
Nadiahrni same
Glad I'm not alone on this. There's so many alternatives to "however".
same here :(
***** damn son
Why did you not mention that this suppose to be for pros and yet it only has a dual core processor and no *dedciated gpu(?!) and only 8gb of ram. For something that is a fifth of what an in state college year costs this is insane
yeah duo core is the killer in this scenario, pros need quads
Only with the 15'' model
Bradley Simonson It doesn't need one, nor would it fit into the thin chassis. With a brain that small, I don't think you're a pro, so this isn't the computer for you.
TheAdrianGarza Are you serious? Because I don't think you know what your talking about. Also it wouldn't be that hard for them to put it in. The blade pro another thin laptop has a full 1080 in it and remains small. I'll sacrifice a few millimeters for performance. Thats stupid
dual core and integrated graphics = pro now? Fuck off, Apple. I don't see how Apple fanboys will be able to defend this.
The touch bar version should have been the only version, they're really squeezing the money out of people more than ever. I'm starting to become really put off by apple lately.
Thank you Austin.. I really enjoy your videos because I feel they are honest and a true representation of your opinion rather than what manufactures would want you to say
Nice review!!
He says "HOWEVER" TOO many times in this video😂😂
HE SAYS HOWEVER SO MANY TIMES
true.
If you wanna know both sides of the story, that's how you do it ;)
Jankunas yea I thought something was wrong with me at first hearing however so many times
Jankunas que
So 2015 macbook. Is way better? Any advice please? I feel like i dont wanna get the 2016 onwards model.
What if I plugged in 2 chargers at 1 time?
hahahahaha
00abadir it will Note 7
It will charge 2x faster
It will double the speed. Amazing performances. It will process both 0 and 1 at the same time like a quantum computer. No-one have realized or tried this yet.
You will make Macbooks great again.
ive been waiting for years to upgrade my 2013 mac air which I love, apple keep fucking around, how the fuck am I meant to downgrade without USB and SD slot which I use on a daily basis, no I'm not carrying an extra cable around for each slots. They need to give what people want, not force us to use what they make and call it beautiful, the best ever..blah blah. apple can get fucked. seriously , I'm over this shit.
Finally someone who is back in the reality and is not brainwashed by apple.
drdj69 So what are you buying instead?
drdj69 oo you didn't kno ? Apple doesn't care about its customers, they care about profits. Stop asking apple for stuff. They kno they can push out any shitty thing they like and you apple flock will rush to buy it anyway. They realised that, they're now taking advantage of it and now you wanna wisen up ? Apple is not gonna care about you as long as u spend ur money on their outdated shit without even thinking
you fucked up in first place buying into over price apple products, STOP BUYING APPLE is not hard jesus
I Still have the 2012 Macbook Pro for the Specs and the Superdrive.
Hey guys, this is Austin!
Always the same intro
HEY AUSTIN, THIS IS GUYS!
Woah. Somehow never seen this channel before.
Super well put together video
It's a good macbook...but not a PRO.
good for a mac book, but mac books are all just a huge scam for your money
Supy Ramirez yeah for the past 3-4 years that seems to be the case. rip apple
All I keep hearing is 'Not Bad' and at a price point like that Not bad is not something you want to hear.
"However" is it worth buying or should go with the 2015 model
Dev Yud dude been thinking the same thing especially for Christmas and I'm going with last years mac book pro
Go for the 2015 model. Definitely. It's an easy decision, it has ports, SD card slot and more. This new MacBook "Pro" doesn't have any of that. But I guess it's up to personal preference. This is just my opinion.
I'm getting the 2016 MBP because my Apple Store doesn't carry 256gb 2015 MBP 😫
Great video Austin keep up the good quality
I can't believe this junk! Seriously! What are Apple fanpeople doing buying this overpriced product!? They're just enabling Apple to keep doing it! First they get rid of dvd/blu ray drives. Then the headphone jacks. Now the standard universal ports??!! For pieces of hardware you can easily get at a third of the price? Where does any of this make sense??
Edgar Larios Noone missed the DVD drive. Who uses DVD these days?
Thisath Ranawaka oh yeah. I forgot. You can't play pc games on Apple.
How is it a Macbook "Pro" when you get rid all of the ports?
I don't care if you make it thinner or some bullsh*t like that.
"Is the 2016 MacBook Pro 13" Worth It?" No. It's not. /video
Yo austin u lookin ripped bro!! Working out a lot lately?
What about those 5 gaming PCs you're giving away? You can't make me forget.
No more magsafe or commonly used ports? Talk about losing functionality. SMH.
Wasted money you should of bought a laptop from IronSide
ProTen ironside isn't razer
Never said it was but they sell better laptops for cheaper price.
they replaced the air with the pro, but kept the pro price
I wanted an updated air. Already have a gaming desktop. I wanted a light thing to carry around that didn't run iOS. Phil was wrong about the base pro being a suitable replacement for those interested in the air, which starts at $999.
Jordan Allison I agree
Jordan Allison Well there's the MacBook 2016. That's the replacement.
Thisath Ranawaka yeah but that 500 dollars more and it has only two USB C ports
bolo santosi I'm talking about the 12" one. It has just one USB C though. But Apple will never make USB A ports again, so that's about it. I'm prepared to say Apple will never make a Air replacement again. They will kill the 11" Air soon and make their line up this:
MacBook 12" (Air 11" replacement)
MacBook Pro 13" w/o TB (Air 13" replacement)
MacBook Pro 13"
MacBook Pro 15"
That core M processor is weak though. No thanks. The air could have an i5 or i7.
my dad gifted me the upgraded model, and I'm typing this comment on it and I'm sad. The keyboard doesn't have travel and the spacebar key has stopped pressing in. Still works, but I wanted the LG Gram tbh
I'll get that MacBook in ten more years 😂😎
craig steele hahahah same 😂 someday 😂
It's already trash, why would you get it 10 years later??? lol
It's a joke about the price.
craig steele same
You forgot to mention the touchbar on your ending summary... hence, it is definitely worth it....
that dumb gimmick? sheep
Raven Caesar Fajariano Its alright, not amazing
So the processor in last year's model is essentially the same as the one is the new model? And you're giving up ports? Forget that. Anyone in their right mind would buy the older one for the cheaper price. Even if you have money to burn, the older model almost seems like the better option.
Did you miss the bit where he showed the price is almost the same when you upgrade the old model to the same size storage? And for that you're getting much, much faster storage and a better screen? So if everything else is the same, you're better off getting the new model....
your so dumb, not even worth arguing
Product aside, I'm binging on a lot of your reviews right now. Great quality vids and useful info. Thanks!
That said, only time and devs good will will tell us.
or you can build a monster $1800 desktop. Of course, you can't bring it anywhere.
Billie Frankie Joe, or you can buy a gaming laptop, which nowadays comes in thin and powerful versions from manufacturers like Razer or Msi and blow new Mac pro specs out of the water (not to mention that you might end up paying less for a more competitive device).
or that, id rather build though. I get my money's worth lol.
Billie Frankie Joe, you so right ^_^ I recently built a NUC for myself and it's not only satisfying, but the skull version is also quite powerful. And that is just a toy! (btw, there's a hackintosh for it)
Say "however" one more time..
If the apple logo doesn't light up I won't buy it!
Then you have two options: never upgrade your mac again, or switch to windows. Unfortunately it seems that every macbook is now switching to the polished one.
Brad Barreau who tf cares about that, it wastes battery anyway
Seriously...WTF Apple?!
thicker than the macbook air? do u even tech bro?
James Hu It's thicker on certain sides. I've checked plenty of reviews and comparisons regarding the disappointment the Macbook "Pro" 2016 has been.
The specifications tell most of the story
errr...not sure if you noticed buddy, but the 2016 Macbook Pro's top end model has worse overall CPU performance than last years as shown here; goo.gl/nsmB9U
Of course, you'd know this if you actually analyzed what it had to offer instead of just parroting around information you read on the internet. Also, even the biggest of apple fans are recognizing Apple has officialy no idea who the MBP 2016 is for. Just read;

Touch bar?
Not to mention that now that Microsoft is offering arguably better products for less (The Surface Book and Pro start at under $1200 USD), everyone, including Apple fans, are starting to question themselves if Apple's pricing actually makes sense in 2016.
hey Austin what would happen if you connect two c type chargers at the same time
Radhakrishna M.G duhhh double charging speed
Radhakrishna M.G Just uses the fastest one.
Don't try it, it transforms into an actual apple.
destruction
Test it out WITH FOUR PORTS!!!!!!!
For 1000$ I could buy so many nice fedora's.. Malady.
Many fedora's have been brought today
whoah, is it just me, or do the colors in this video seem more vibrant than his others
When did Malcolm in The Middle start doing reviews on UA-cam??
You know the product being reviewed is underwhelming or bad when Austin says "however" so many times.
Did you actually struggle at the end when you asked yourself: "Is it worth it"? You respond with "kinda". This laptop is the rip-off of the decade.
Thank you Austin, finally an un unbiased review of the MacBook Pro.
Am I the only one that noticed him saw however 100x?
Not alone.
Ali Franklin however
liking my own comment just to get the ball rolling.
The Mac Book only has two cores. and people still buy this shit. it has pro in the name but this should be a Bata product.
*_I believe they mainly buy it for the fashion, or just to show off-_*
i can see that, but it really isn't smart.
zaniar bayazidi *_Exactly-_*
how to bold comment
EnTr Yugi use * before and after the bold part ex *this*
Fun game: take a shot every time Austin says "however".
Can you compare NEW Razer Blade Stealth vs Macbook Pro - Late 2016?'
Its 999$ vs 1499$ (or 1799$ with touchbar)
***** what are you on about?
what will happen if I wanna use the function keys in boot camp but in the macs with touch bar
It defaults to the usual keys in Windoz.
haxhxm It automatically shows function keys in Windows, and also has native drivers.
haxhxm
Silver version looks super nice! Looks better than space gray imo.
