  • In my opinion, the best combination for consistent espresso setup and can also get super nerdy about all the equipment as well.

@@CaffeMartellaSingapore Cool, looking forward to it. Their Data-S model (with the gear pump) looks cool as well.

control over it seem to be amazing though I feel being to controlled/monitored you're losing authenticity/craftsmanship to gain constant repeatability. Fair trade off, though, I like the feeling that great coffee and craftsmanship are this pleasant combo that makes the coffee taste better even if you don't have as much control as with tech. But seems to be a great setup ! Enjoy !

Yeah I think for a setup for speed, you really need to have control and consistency and repeatability. In this set up, that's the aim. I do agree with you on the quality. And thr quality very much depends on the initial state of the grind and whether there is a need to make it better. The better the quality of the grind, the less you need to do.

    What's this machine?

Get a blind shaker, it's way better than direct to portafilter dosing.

I seriously doubt so. That depends on how good your grinder is.

That's clearly not the point of this setup.

The Blind Shaker is part of the Weber grinders, of course, which are widely considered to be among the best around; the straight to portafilter approach is definitely quick, but the Blind Shaker does an extra job of homogenising the grounds. The beginning and end of a grind inevitably have different distribution profiles from the middle, and mixing helps even these differences out. Extraction has been shown to be deeper and more consistent using this re-distribution. There are definitely arguments both for and against including re-distribution in a workflow though at all, though, aren't there?@@CaffeMartellaSingapore

@@alanparmenter why because Lance said so? I watched that video as well and now you cannot get a blind shaker for less then 100$ . Seems suspicious to me. It might be true but remember those people are sales men.

Yeah. I agree. Inside the hopper is some old beans I used to season the burrs.
