    Before you insert the portafilter and pull a shot, press the shot button and get rid of the burst of steam. Improves the shot and it even says to do it in the manual. Only run it until the steam comes out.

    loved the video
    Can you explain what is the 5 second pre infusion?

    • @Coffeewithjoshh
      @Coffeewithjoshh  16 днів тому

      @@Makwayne pre infusion is a small amount of water released at a lower pressure (less than 9bar) to soak the coffee puck first. This is done as it sets the coffee puck meaning when the higher pressure comes through after the pre infusion, it makes it less likely you will get gaps in the puck to cause channeling 👍🏻

    this rubber (?) thing at the top of the grinder , is for making all the coffee fall , without having any loss? can it be put at any grinder?

      It’s called a “bellow”, & yes it’s to get all the coffee out. If you type your grinder & “bellow” there will most likely be one. For the Sage grinder I have a link in my linktree in bio

    Hi, and thanks for this excellent video. I'm just starting out with my Bambino Plus. I have 3 questions that I would appreciate you helping me with: 1. the Manual says"Press and hold the 2-cup button for the desired pre-infusion time". I can see you do this, but How Long for...? How have you determined this step? 2. Second question: How have you determined the Grind Size? Is it by experimentation? 3. And how did you get the Smart Grinder Pro to grind the exact amount (18g) - the Grind Amount button is Time not weight - this latter aspect is baffling me! Help, if you can. Thanks!

      Hi!
      So:
      1. If you hold the button for 5 secs it will give you a 5 second pre infusion, you can hold this down for up to 10 seconds I believe but that is a max. 5 secs for me is about enough.
      2. I determined the grind size by first going to the “espresso” setting on the machine. Pull a shot & time & weigh the output a good rule of thumb is if you put 18g of coffee grounds in your portafilter, you want roughly 36grams of liquid coffee out in around 30 seconds. If your shot is too fast, just keep going finer till you get to that sweet spot.
      3. Okay so there’s two ways, weigh your portafilter and press the zero button on your scales, then time how long it takes till you get 18g coffee and then adjust the grinder time to match that, you should get (roughly) 18gs every time. Mine was around 16secs but it depends.
      The other option is to weigh out 18g of coffee beans with your scales, and only put 18g into the hopper then just grind till the hopper is empty 👍🏻(that’s what I do)

      Hi Josh, thank you for your amazing help! Now it all makes sense. I think I've been overwhelmed with so many different videos and sometimes either conflicting or incomplete information. You've sorted it! Cheers!

    I have the same two machines, what grind setting do you use?

    • @vuduong173
      @vuduong173 27 днів тому

      That is entirely up to what beans you use. There's no way around having to dial in the beans yourself. Unfortunately, you'll have to waste a few shots to dial in the beans you have, especially if you switch beans regularly. If you stick with 1 bean for the rest of your life, then you can set the grind size and forget about it, although every single batch of roasted coffee will still require different grind size, but it's really close that only a little adjustment is needed.

    Is that about 60ml of coffee on the preset 2 cup button?

    • @Coffeewithjoshh
      @Coffeewithjoshh  29 днів тому

      Hi it’s probs more like 40ml. Ignore google, a double shot should be about 32-44ml of coffee (depending how many grams of coffee you use)

    That is a very noisy steamer. That thumping will get annoying very quickly. Trying to hide it with music is dishonest. The ascaso has the same problem. It seems to be due to the thermoblock.
