  • Tiger 900 GT Pro vs Rally Pro. Which Tiger is right for you?
    Thanks to Triumph UK I had the use of a Tiger 900 GT Pro over the winter and I clocked up over 1,000 miles on it, so I really did get to know this bike. Just one look at the Tiger and you would categorise it as an Adventure Motorcycle, but what does an Adventure Motorcycle really mean? That’s something I look at and talk about throughout this video.
    As well as taking the Tiger 900 off-road, I also brave the cold and rain and combine some motorway and country road riding to meet up with some of my biking friends. I also ask my friend Cathy to join me for a ride on a Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro which we borrow from Bulldog Triumph so we can compare it to the Tiger 900 GT Pro.
    If you are wondering which Tiger 900 is the best one for your riding style, then this video is for you.
    Thanks to Triumph UK for collaborating and loaning me the Tiger 900 GT Pro.

    Great video. I bought my tiger, and then a few weeks later we were visiting my wife’s family in the UK and we did the two day level one training. Highly recommended. My wife had never ridden, off-road, and I never had any off-road training. As soon as we got back, I went down to get the off-road tires for my bike, and while I was doing that my wife bought her 900 rally. Those machines are perfect for the Colorado mountains! Again, great video and good shout out to the triumph adventure experience. I would highly recommend that to anyone.

    Hi Phil good clip mate , I think adventure bikes have taken over from big sports bikes here in UK !! Seem to be would be Ewan and Charlie's everywhere 😁😁 love a bit of offroading now and then myself but on the old xr , the adventure bikes seem too heavy but can appreciate they allow you to venture more , even on single track rougher roads forest tracks etc . And having the higher seating position and upright stance are great in traffic touring about , and with our roads being a bit rougher nowadays they can come into their own even in urban riding . They are probably better for touring in real world conditions on all sort of roads than the likes of the goldwings Etc type of tourers . Keep safe .👍😁 ps the triumph adventure bikes are looking great nowadays .

      Thanks so much! I think you are right, adventure bikes are really popular now and as you say for understandable reasons. They do look great don’t they! 😁

    Hey Phil.
    I came across your video which I found really interesting because of several reason.
    First, being very clear, as I am currently doing a bit of homework watching and listening comparisons between GT and Rally. Currently its a bit too cold, but as soon as possible I will take both of them for the test ride.
    Second, you touched the topic which I am really interested in, meaning how much GT is capable of going of-road? (pls don't get me wrong, I know it's mostly up the to rider skills, but asking here about your personal feeling)?
    How, based on your of-road experience, would you rate the chassis, ground clearance and suspension (travel length) for average, gravel like roads and soft of-road driving ?
    I believe, I can be considered as an adventure rider who occasionally takes the bike of-road, without going hardcore or extreme, whatever we call it.
    Finally, I also prefer the proportions of GT over Rally as to me Rally looks a bit strange being such a tall bike.
    Thanks in advance for your reply.
    Cheers,
    Piotr !

      Hi! Thanks for watching and for your comment. On the road it’s a great bike and I really enjoyed clocking up the miles on it. When it comes to off road riding I don’t think I can really comment as the tyres the bike comes with I’d say are road tyres, and certainly not capable for riding off road. Hi. As you and others keep saying the the Triumph Rally Pro is a great bike. One your first few days of having the Rally Pro you took it off road and found it did not like the leaves , For all uk & EU terrain ie road and damp and dusty roads, would you keep it on the tyres that it came on or would you change them for better grip and still Road use. Please.

    • @TheAdventuresofPhilJones
      @TheAdventuresofPhilJones  11 місяців тому

      Thanks for watching. If you are only riding on the roads then the tyres that come with the GT Pro will be fine, but if you take it on the dirt or off road then you should think about changing the tyres to something more suitable. I hope that helps! 👍

  • @PovilasPanavas
    @PovilasPanavas 6 місяців тому

    About the firmness of Rally Pro seat compared to GT Pro, I think this is because she got a lowered seat which is lower because it has less foam in it. I believe that standard seats are identical between Rally Pro and GT Pro.

  • @JohnRushworth
    @JohnRushworth Рік тому

    The Metzler tyres are really dry off-road tyres. On my GT Pro I changed them for a pair of Dunlop Mutants as the Tourance Next front teamlines badly, swapping from the standard 100/90 bias belted/cross ply to the 110/80 radial of the Mutant. Rear standard 150/70. The front be it 100/90 or 110/80 are both considered optimal for the 2.5” rim. For the UK the Dunlop Mutants are far better especially as they are an all season tyre and deal well with surprise gravel or water around our poorly surfaced backroads.
    As regards the bike itself it’s the most complete motorcycle I’ve ever owned of the 53 I’ve had in the last 53 years of riding. Coming from a trials and enduro background I wanted a bike that had more on road ability than off and I find the 19” front and the two inches less suspension compared to the 21” inch front Rally Pro makes the GT Pro an excellent and comfortable road bike that can cope with the bumps and potholes of our roads. My partner finds it very comfortable.
    As you say the heated seats are great, however here in Scotland the heated grips are not enough but a cheap pair of 15 quid bar muffs has solved that for winter.

      Hi Mike. I hear what you’re saying but don’t all modern bikes come equipped with rider modes? Bikes have certainly changed over the years from when I used to get sideways on a motocross bike! 😁

    • @JohnRushworth
      @JohnRushworth Рік тому +1

      I disagree Mike. The electronics really add to the bike particularly as I have a passenger much of the time. The beauty about the modes are that not only does it alter throttle response but it changes damping settings on the rear to match the mode. Preload is also easily adjusted from the dash too.
      I can easily (53 motorcycles and 53 years riding) ride without these aids coming from the trials/enduro and a dabble in the tarmac track world - yet the modes, the traction control and ABS with an IMU simply contribute to safety and comfort. For me it’s the most complete motorcycle I’ve ever owned and it should be as it’s a premium product. For those that don’t want the electronics, heated seats etc there’s the less expensive 850 Sport. Same engine and chassis.
