  • Triumph gives its flagship adventure tourer a much-needed revamp for 2023 and this time it was definitely worth the wait. The Tiger 1200 Rally Pro is 100% all-new from the ground up and gets a much-needed boost in off-road performance that is sure to please dirt-loving adventure travelers. The most notable change for the Rally model is the 21”/18” wheelset, compared to the outgoing Tiger 1200 XC’s 19”/17” combo. Additionally, the new 1160cc T-Plain Triple copies the 1-3-2 firing order of the Tiger 900 and pumps out a blistering 147 ponies at the crank at 9,000 rpm and 95 ft-lbs of torque at 7,000 rpm. The big tiger also gets a purpose-built off-road suspension with 220mm of travel front and rear, new dual-sided swingarm, upgraded electronics, and a 55-pound weight reduction! Has it leaped to the head of the pack in off-road performance, ahead of the other shaft-driven competition? Is it a serious off-road tool or dressed up street bike? We have answers to all your burning questions!

    Fantastic review, hit all the important parts. Steve knows his adv bikes. This bike is not getting enough attention. It's superb on all surfaces. Shaft drive, 21 inch front wheel, no one else has that! The motor is a jewel, and the suspension kicks ass for a stock bike.

    Steve just picks out the big ticket feel of this bike to give you a taste of the machine. It is an excellent compact format rather than the boring minutiae of detail most others trot out. Steve is a “high context” guy 👍

    I for one sir have really enjoyed the video and am quite thankful for your opinion and knowledge of the subject. I’m currently riding a Scrambler 1200XE. I don’t ride too much off road but mostly back roads and some are gravely farm roads. I’m thinking of moving to Tiger 1200 Rally Pro. Thanks again.

    Just a great overall video - Steve knows what he’s doing, he’s actually riding the crap out of the bike which is how it should be for a review AND he doesn’t give bullshit when comparing it to other adv bikes…some companies “don’t want to choose a winner because it’s all personal preference” of course, but just tell us which one you’d pick! Well done Steve

    • @steve_kamrad5216
      @steve_kamrad5216 Рік тому +1

      It's not the drive shaft. It's the throttle. The drive shaft has no play in it. Where would it be? The cv joints? In the bevel gears? I can understand why people think it's the shaft drive but that's not possible. So it's the throttle on/off and engine braking

    I would really like to see (I know it's not easy) reviews regarding the durability and resistance of these bikes on long trips. We always have evaluations about performance, torque, electronics etc. etc. but we never find anything about fatigue, breaks, durability, percentage of breaks (fracture) and defects, electronic breakdowns etc etc. As a Tiger user for over 8 years and thousands and thousands of kilometers on many adventures throughout South America and the Amazon, I can guarantee that the Tiger is indestructible, giving you a lot of security and peace of mind that you will leave and return with the same bike. I see many "" bizarre "" reports and stories regarding the fragility of certain brands that compete with Triumph. I'm afraid to deal with a specific brand. Please, where are the evaluations about durability, resistance, or is this not important for someone who is going to make a trip of 12,000 km?

    Good luck trying to find what the mileage is in the menu. It’s so convoluted I needed the owner’s manual. Also, Triumph’s factory infotainment guys couldn’t get an iphone 12 or 13 to integrate to use the navigation, music, or GoPro controls. The infotainment is a train wreck. The electronics are SO ANNOYING. The number of times I got caught out during a a climb or ascent and the bike switched back to road traction settings after I stalled it or turned it off momentarily while I was checking the map or doing something. Finally, I can pick up my GSA 5-6 times in a day if I’m getting the bike out of something really trick. After 1 time I needed to use a bike hoist. It just feels so much heavier because the weight is all on top.

    I always feellike im being hit with a sales pitch on 90% of the reviews i watch. How many buyers are going to want a 21" front wheel on a 1200 hi hp touring motorcycle? Hey I want one so I can stuff it into corners on mountain roads with its 21" front wheel with confidence! Yea! Not very very few riders will be looking for that bike configuration. Unless you live in the wild west or the Outback, which aint many of us, this is a nice to know bit of information but im not signing up. At least give me a 19" front wheel for a reasonable compromise.
