I think these were the best times for concerts. We were laid back and just there for the music and atmosphere. No fear of violence or hate. Just love and a great buzz with memorable music.
You are so right about the visibility of performers back in the day.. We had to watch The Midnight Special to see what our favorite bands and singers looked like!
Frampton had it all .. looks, hair, guitar skills, vocals, songwriter, musician, and all around good guy! I had the privilege of seeing him open for KISS with Cheap Trick in the 70’s. 🥰
Damn. I was at this concert when I was 16. Frampton was great. He wasn't like a star. He was like one of us who suddenly found himself famous. Seemed really down to earth. Sounded that way anyway. Fact is, most of us attended these concerts In the cheap seats. No big monitors of the action. Didn't see shit. But it didn't matter since it was summer, and we were in a baseball park filled with kids from all over the same age as us. We could hear the show. Now that I've watched this video, 46 years later, I actually see what the concert I was at looks like at it looks pretty cool too. Thanks for the memory. These were big events for sure. Mass weekend exodus to Oakland from all over Northern California. Some great summer concerts every year at "Day on the Green."
You're right about no social media in 1977. I was 20 years old back then. We had songs we liked, but we often had no idea what the band members looked like or how they looked performing a song. Maybe there was an occasional picture in an album. Never saw any videos of Led Zeppelin, for example. Such videos didn't exist back then. I did get to see Peter Frampton about 10 years ago in a small venue in Houston. He sounded as great as ever.
All those beautiful young girls are grandmothers or great-grandmothers now...........I married one and she is still beautiful. Never ages in my eyes....
I saw him Saturday night in Raleigh NC. 73 years old, but his voice is pristine and guitar playing was spectacular. He has a muscular disease that almost ended his career. He walked with a cane and sat down for the whole concert, but Peter was full of energy. Great show!
Day on the Green! These shows drew about 65,000 people each show. I was in that crowd somewhere. Framptom Comes Alive was THE album of the year and this was the must see show that year. It was a great time to be young. Seeing all those faces is a real flashback for me. Think about it... All those girls are grandmothers today!
I've always loved Peter Frampton and his guitar. He's much older now, with a lot less hair but i still love him.🤭😄 He has the most beautiful smile!😊 Edit: You should check out his performance of "While my guitar gently weeps" with Eric Clapton. So so great!
Peter Frampton is the ultimate live performer. The first time I saw him was in 1976 at JFK stadium in Philadelphia. The headliner was YES, whom I really went to the show to see, left there being a Frampton fan (and still am) He blew them off the stage. He was fantastic. You should watch "Do You Feel like We do" from this same concert, he plays the drums in it. So good. Side note, this is the same concert from the LYNYRD SKYNYRD "FREEBIRD" live in 77 came from, Ronnie mentions Peter just before the song starts. They all had become friends. Frampton does a version of 'Call Me The Breeze' .
I dig your affectionate response to the nostalgia of the 70's. Social media really did come with a cost that was overlooked. I grew up in the 60s'-70's and I feel a sadness when I look at the crowds.
Had tickets to see Frampton in 1978 with a friend. Her sister had the nerve to go into labor the night of the concert. In my head I was throwing a totally immature fit (I was 18) We did make it but were late.I am now 64 and unsure if I wouldn't still be a brat about it-lol. Of course at this age I would have just gone myself but at 18 she was my transportation and I had no idea how to get there. As to your comments at the end, many of us had crushes on Peter Frampton and many of us had his poster hanging on our bedroom walls.
"Oh baby, I love your way." In the 80s, band t-shirts were VERY popular and all the girls in school were wearing Peter Frampton. He's just got an easy way about him.
Frampton is currently touring , I'm seeing him in Miami next week, and he is truly a rocker, has been since he began. I loved Wind of Change and Frampton's Camel, both albums before the live album which was the #1 album of '76. Great vocals, guitars and a real pleasant man
Peter Frampton is an English rock musician, singer, songwriter & producer. He was previously associated with the bands Humble Pie & The Herd. I had his famous 1976 album "Frampton Comes Alive". His biggest hits are "Show Me The Way," "Baby, I Love Your Way," "Do You Feel Like We Do" & "I'm In You". He was famous for using a talk box in live performances.
Good recognition of "the less you have of something, the more you appreciate it." I never actually put it together like this, but that's also the theme of younger reactors reacting to these classic hits. You can watch what's been recorded, but for many of these artists you can't look forward to their next show or even any new music at all. Catch the "old fart concerts" live in person while you still have the chance... my recent have included James Taylor, Loverboy, and Styx, and Foreigner is just a few weeks away.
The following is an excerpt from his new memoir, "Do You Feel Like I Do: A Memoir," cowritten with Alan Light. In it, Frampton recounts his early days touring with English rock band the Who, including their wild nights out and endless pranks around the world.
This video answers the age old question....was this concert only with Lynard Skynyrd....evidently not since this was the same concert!!! What a concert it must have been!! Peter Frampton was outstanding in concert!!!🤘🤘🤘🎵🎼🎶🥁🎸🎤🎙🎹🔥🤘
You are so right! The only time you got to see any group in action was at a concert. I am now 70 years old and grew up in that era. It was awesome although the internet has allowed us to see a lot of concerts I would have never seen otherwise. Just like Woodstock. I heard a lot about it but didn’t get to see it until the internet made it possible.
Sometime take a minute and look up the music this album was competing with in the mid 70's. Just an amazing time in music. When music meant so much more than money. Artists were robbed of so much.
Back in the day, the concert was when they got to see them or after the show. So it's cool to see how things were and remembering. I never got to go too young.
This song came out the year I graduated from high school. I think EVERYONE loved it and loved Peter. I was lucky enough to see him in concert many many years later, and he still had the magic. You spoke about the difference between back then and how it is now with technology and the ability to have everything and everyone literally at your finger tips. I honestly think that even though it is nice and convenient today, that something of the magic is lost because it's too too easy. Special memories that stand out in your mind for your lifetime are missed out on when everything comes too easy. Also back in the day radio stations always mentioned the name of a song and artist after they played them on their station. I find it disrespectful and rude that now rarely ever do you hear the name of a song or artist mentioned when their songs are played. It takes a couple of seconds to say their name, they should do it out of respect for the art and the artist. Haha besides the fact that sometimes I can't recall the name of the artist myself or never knew to begin with. :P
1977 was the third consecutive year Peter Frampton toured in support of his mega double album Frampton Comes Alive. One other notable thing about this show was the opening band was Lynyrd Skynyrd. PS: All Those ladies in the front row are all grandmother's today.
I'd definitely like to see your reaction to the album version, which is tremendous. Frampton was HUGE in the 70's as you can see from the size of the crowd. He was only 20 when he played on George Harrison's first solo album. Ringo Starr played on Frampton's first solo album, Wind of Change. Other songs to check out: I've Got My Eyes on You, I Believe When I Fall in Love (It Will Be Forever) a cover of a Stevie Wonder song, Jumping Jack Flash, All I Want to Be is By Your Side, Alright and with Humble Pie: Shine On, Stone Cold Fever, 79th and Sunset and The Light. Frampton is amazing!
If you wanna see a more recent acoustic version of this song look it up on youtube it's from around 2018-2019. He put out 3 songs on UA-cam this one and "Do you Feel.like I do" and one other he has NOT lost a beat since this video. He plays with just his other guitar player from.back in the day.
You've seen the live "Freebird" performance by Lynyrd Skynryd, right? If not, put it on the list. It's a classic rock performance. Peter nearly always looks to me like he's hitting 11 on the scale of joy when he's performing.
This song was so much better played on the radio on a hot summer night, on a blanket, under the stars with your hot crush where your sure he is going to kiss you for the first time.
This was my time. We're all grandparents now, but this was a great period that won't ever come again. So blessed to have been a part of it!!!
Frampton had it all .. looks, hair, guitar skills, vocals, songwriter, musician, and all around good guy! I had the privilege of seeing him open for KISS with Cheap Trick in the 70’s. 🥰
I had BIG plans to marry him when I was a kid in the 70s.
Bingo! You got it. This was pre technology days, hence seeing these bands back then was a big event.
It was a wonderful time to be alive , people were united by the music and we had incredible talant . Enjoy the journey. ❤💜❤UK
"Ooh, Baby i love YOUR way"
Peter always looked so happy when he was performing! He was my favorite as soon as I first heard him!
The studio live version is the classic track...need that one.

Crazy kids are in their 60s and up now! I was in the 7th grade in '77 and I'm 59 so I'm old...but what great concert memories!
All those beautiful young girls are grandmothers or great-grandmothers now...........I married one and she is still beautiful. Never ages in my eyes....
Same here
I saw him Saturday night in Raleigh NC. 73 years old, but his voice is pristine and guitar playing was spectacular. He has a muscular disease that almost ended his career. He walked with a cane and sat down for the whole concert, but Peter was full of energy. Great show!
He also did one of he finest covers of the BB King blues classic The Thrill is Gone.
Went to one of his concerts the first week of college. It's amazing how time passes, and these beautiful young girls are now grandmothers.
Yeah, I went to a Frampton concert in 1980 in college. I'm in my 60s now, but not a grandma!😅 I still love Peter! ❤ Thanks for your reaction!
@@marleneobstnash5517 I am a grandma and I had his album in high school (class of 78) and went to see him live in 2007 and he was still wonderful!
Yes this was the same concert that Lynyrd Skynyrd did Freebird live. Peter was the headliner.
I like the fact that there is no animosity anywhere in that crowd. Peter just seems to have a great vibe, and the crowd sends back the love. He glows.
Day on the Green! These shows drew about 65,000 people each show. I was in that crowd somewhere. Framptom Comes Alive was THE album of the year and this was the must see show that year. One of my favorite 'happy' romantic sexy songs ... love both live and studio versions
I've always loved Peter Frampton and his guitar. He's much older now, with a lot less hair but i still love him.🤭😄
He has the most beautiful smile!😊

On this day,as mentioned in comments,he had a tough act to follow, when Lynyrd Skynyrd opened for him.I saw Frampton in 1999 and he was still great!
I dig your affectionate response to the nostalgia of the 70's. Social media really did come with a cost that was overlooked. I grew up in the 60s'-70's and I feel a sadness when I look at the crowds.
Bill Graham presents "Day on the Green!" Oakland CA
I was there, incredible show!!!!
Had tickets to see Frampton in 1978 with a friend. Her sister had the nerve to go into labor the night of the concert. And was in a band called humble pie
Hey, Dagmar!!

Peter's third big hit from the mega-million-selling album "Frampton Comes Alive" is "Show Me the Way," which reached No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Every girl in 1977 was in love with Peter Frampton! The lyric is “ love your way” not the way.
I saw him in 77 when thos album came out. Fantastic show. I was 17❤
Those girls in the audience are all grandmothers now. lol Maybe even greats! But still, I envy them. I was too young to have been there.
I had his poster on my bedroom wall. ❤

Every teenage girl had his album and picture on their wall!
He does a killer version of Do You Do Feel Like We Do at this concert. Do yourself a favor and watch the whole concert.
A love this song, his voice is amazing
seen him in concert in boston in the late 70's! great great show! big night out!
Frampton Comes Alive was one of the best live albums released, seen him Philadelphia with YES in 1976
Correct me if I'm wrong , but that looks like the same concert that Skynyrd did Freebird video.
Yes it was, he was the headliner
Yup. That was the same show. If I recall, Skynyrd joined the Outlaws when they played Green Grass and High Tides.
You are so right! The only time you got to see any group in action was at a concert. I am now 70 years old and grew up in that era. Think about this - all those young people in the crowd are in their sixties now! I was 16 at the time of this concert!
I was at one of the recorded concerts at Oakland Coliseum in 1977. It was a Day on the Green, 3 day event. Amazing!
Back in the day, the concert was when they got to see them or after the show. So it's cool to see how things were and remembering. I never got to go too young.

Love peter frampton
Mad crush on Peter Frampton since i was a teenager i am an old lady what can i say he's hot. Awesome reaction.

One of my favorite Peter Frampton performances and such a fantastic song!!!!! By the way, this was at the same concert that Lynyrd Skynyrd performed.
Yes, it is because that how big Frampton was!
Just saw him at Meijer gardens amphitheater.....great show!!!
you should try . the who ..and song behinde blue eyes

Peter nearly always looks to me like he's hitting 11 on the scale of joy when he's performing.
It was the same concert as this one! July 1977 Oakland Coliseum Day On The Green. I was there way up in the nosebleed area! 😂
Thats the same show Lynyrd Skynyrd played that day. Look up them live in Oakland. God I'm old. Lol
This song was so much better played on the radio on a hot summer night, on a blanket, under the stars with your hot crush where your sure he is going to kiss you for the first time.
"show me the way" nextttt
Salvo, the lyrics are Love Your Way, not Love the Way. I'm sure when you listen to the studio version, that will become more clear.
Listen to album version of his songs
That's not from "Frampton Comes Alive" live version.
This is the same concert that Lynyrd Skynyrd performed at as well
How much should be payments on 55, 000 Spotify Streams for the writer, performer.?How much for the publisher ?
Big Mountain remade this song in the mid 90s. Their version is more reggae.
Same concert as the Skynyrd one you watched
Same show that Lynyrd Skynyrd played Freebird in that classic performance. Just imagine being at that show???? Sighhh
These days young people have become so politicised. We just enjoyed life then.
Not crazy about like version they downgrade there on music
