I think many young people misunderstand the point. When you 21 you have less responsibility and are still inexperienced about life. Even as 30 you are still learning, we keep growing. But when I compare myself to my 20s to now in my 30s I definitely wasnt as capable and understanding of the world as now. But that doesnt mean its bad to be 21. What he meant was that 21 is an age where we lived more carefree and with less pressure of getting older and with lots of options compared to in the 30s
Didn't think the trashcan is the sponsored product of the video. I guess it boils down to the way the sneaks the idea into the viewer's mind so discreetly. I'm impressed and damn that cinematography or editing done in this video is so nice. Shows us how much they've perfected their craft with storytelling as a whole.
The message in the video is beautiful. And if no sponsoring would have meant no video, I can understand that. Even though electrical trash cans and soap dispensers are very stylish and appear sophisticated, wouldn’t foot/hand operated appliances have done the job just as well, maybe just as stylish and been more environmentally friendly? But then I understand that no sponsoring means no pay and no video.

I have failed a lot and i am failing right now as well but this video is just somewhat asking not to give up. I might fail even more after this but i won't give up. I hope you all have peace within yourself :)

Good luck out there everyone!

MINHYUN IS MY RELIGION great! Drew started with at 30 and met that girl months later and again several years later. Let's get started, you are way ahead of him. :)
Sometimes you don't realize how depressed you've been until you actually start taking care of yourself and reigning in control over your life. I've watched this video so many times before without ever really understanding it, but it had to come from the inside. This video is the perfect reminder when you need it
My personal advice, don't ever dwell on college as being a "transition" or an "experience". Sure, it is, but the transition to that point is more important. It's all just life in a different form.
That "later" mindset might stick with you even at the time when you actually do need to pick yourself up asap. eg in second year of your professional program and your gpa is sinking by the semester. I just want to say it's better to start out with at least some good habits, because "later" is a very vague time limit.
I watched this in my last year of high school, and wondered about when I would finally become an adult. It's been many years since then and I watched it again just now. I almost started crying when I realized that I'm almost there. I've almost made it. And I believe you can too - never give up.
As a first year college student, this video couldn't be more relatable. It's always good to be reminded of future goals and what to do now to get what we want in the future :)
I'm 28 and i'm stuck in a position is this work really worth it? Is this work really go for my carreer? Now that i'm thinking about it i might getting worried about my future so is there a advice for me how to improve or etc?
Hi! I got my first job at the age of 26. And stay at home daughter for 5 years but not reaĺly a stay at home daughter, I have some sort kind of sideline job.
Bro life aint easy I was very fortunate for the fact that my parents got me everything I wanted or needed growing up but they split so I had to provide for myself after dropping out of high school and had to learn how to save up after blowin all my money on bud and liquor for 2 years finally started saving halfway to turning 20 now I'm thinking about my future and moving out and starting businesses and most importantly a family. Nothing in life comes easy all we can do is work for what we want, remain faithful and have a positive attitude and treat others with love and respect we all come from different backgrounds and we gotta help each other grow and reach our potential! You got this! Working tires you out but as long as you stay focused and know how to handle your money and learn from the toxic relationships and mistakes and grow from them, you'll go way farther than about 95% of modern society and that's a fact. Growing up shows how strong we can become when we're thrown to the wolves bless up and have an amazing day
Shed a tear watching this video again ngl. 3 years ago, I watched this with nothing to my name, no motivation, no future. Tonight, I rewatch it again with everything I could ever ask for in life. This video will always hold a special place in my heart :’) To everyone going through it, just keep going and know that it gets better. You got this!
Watching this at 19 being a server at a restaurant and going to community for an Associates of arts but switching next semester to business and have no idea what I wanna do for work besides knowing I need to make 200k a year. I'm ahead of kids my age but I'm stressed out, I can't stop thinking about money and if I'm a loser than what's the point in my life.
Watching this at 20, and I am pretty dependant on my parents for a lot of things- including transport. I have a job but know I have SO much learning and growing to do before I become someone old me can be proud of. Taking responsibility is scary but it can be so freeing, we can do this!!
I watched this 2 years ago, and when I saw Ben in TUA for the first time, it did not occur to me that I had seen him before. I had no memory of his face D:
I feel like the faster you accept responsibility is the faster you become an adult no matter what age you are. I swear I became the most happy when I became self sufficient. There’s nothing more fulfilling then listening to your self and supporting yourself. I recently just did a video on the same topic pretty sure y’all will like it. Much love ❤️
I have been watching WongFu for as most as I can remember. When I was in high school I used to relate to their videos and now as an almost college graduate I can still relate. Thank you Wong Fu for all the inspiration!
I watched this video when it first came out and it really motivated me. My sister and I have been trying really hard to improve our lives for the last 2 yrs. We finally have better paying jobs, a car, credit and we just moved to a nice small apartment so we still dont have a lot of stuff. A few weeks ago, my sister wanted to buy a new trash can, just like this one. I thought it was a bit pricey and too fancy for us, but then I remembered this video, its message and decided to buy it. We just have to keep improving our lives and keep moving forward :) P.S: i apologize for any mistakes, english is not my 1st language!
Not gonna lie, this video made such a huge impact on me that I got over my fear of cooking. I even managed to cook an actual dinner meal for my family!
man, timing in life is EVERYTHING. I've been thinking alot about "adulting" lately. Reached rock bottom today, took a long walk outside, got back home to see this video. Gotta love WongFu productions, I'm looking up to you guys, thank you! :)
1. That was such an organic way to product place Simple Human I'm shooketh 2. I was like yes, yes, YASS to everything in this video, and in the moment when mom said to eat fruit in Korean, I declared that I identified 300% to this video, tysm.
Cecily Crasto lol it's like a seal (usually made of rubber or some sort of metal) placed between two things being connected. The purpose is to prevent any fluids from leaking out between the two pieces.
I hope you guys make more videos on the topic. 'Adulting' isn't easy. I'm 21 and everyone tells me that by 25 I have to have my shit together. Some people who are in their mid twenties already have kids. I don't know how they do it.
Alias Elysum don't worry I'm 26, still don't have a hang on being a proper adult. Its not about being perfect, just try to do the best you can manage and work on improving yourself one bit at a time!
Having kids doesn't mean a person is wise/ he knows what he wants/ his life and self are sorted. I know someone who's 30, has two kids, but super immature, because he was born rich and never really got out of his shelf. I have to say, i pity him. He doesn't know his myriad of problems and still thinks he's better than others. So kids, a hard life in your formative years can be good.
They don't. Don't have a kid in your 20s. Build your career first and enjoy your youth. You can travel and not get anyone tell you, "that's boring I don't want to do that." Or work around your spouse's schedule. You also don't feel bad for leaving your family behind on trips or quit gym because your partner wants you home by 6pm. Not saying having a partner is horrible but get yourself together and know who you are. People in their 20s don't have this.
Im 15 and this is the best video ever. I always had a general idea of how i was gonna live as an adult. But this amde me realize that budgetting and scheduling is an essential part of a healthy life style. Thank you for this great video. You have really given me a better idea of what potential i have and what i can work towards to reach that potential. Thank you so much :)
Thank you. I recently realized this. I am 22 living like 16. I always realized this. I am not growing up. Everything else around me is changing. Not me. Starting from today. Wish me luck. Amazing video and so accurate to my life :')
I had to search for this video - i watched it periodically when i was a teen (27 now) and searched growing up trashcan advert. It really helped me understand that I just needed to practice adulting, slowly one by one and it’ll be okay.
This video uploaded in 2017, but it literally changed my life in 2019 and 2020. I started to cook healthy food, work out 3 times a week, and most importantly getting a new job... Wait... Career... 😊 At first it's really hard, but when that's becoming a routine, it gets easier... Nice trash can ads btw...
Do you sometimes feel like life is passing you by though? I can't help but feeling being an adult is kinda "no life". Its doing everything you are suppose to do and that leaves very little time for anything else.
@@joesr31 yesss! For me, as an adult we need to set our own goals, just like when we were at college, our main goal is to graduate. Goals can be anything like moving to new apartments or take your parents abroad for a trip. It really helps me to be more motivated and positive everyday.
So do I. At first, I only watch to relax yourself, don't literally to change my life. But by chance, I showed again my UA-cam 1 years ago, all of the sudden, I tap to rewatch it. Thus I realize one thing: I have wasted my time for many years, instead of hatred myself but I couldn't do it because if I criticize self, the time doesn't change right now. Thus I push me up and put me jealous or envious to others, in order to know what my missing out in my characteristic to recover it. And maintain rountine for many months and many years. In a nutshell, I have a good accomplishment which I envy for many years
Aside from the guy being Ben from UA, this is an amazingly motivational short film. I’m a college senior graduating in two months in need of a job. I need to find a way to sustain my living after college, but I have been laying off my responsibilities for being depressed and have just let time flow by meaninglessly. This film made me realize that becoming an adult is difficult, but it’s something that you one day become by doing your tasks one by one. Hope things work out for everyone who’s struggling.
This was the first time my mom sent me a Wong Fu vid before I showed it to her 😂 thanks for providing the type of videos I can bring home to my parents guys ❤️
Thank you for this video; I really needed it!!! I recently graduated from college and have been feeling lost in the post-college adult life. It's nice to know that I'm not alone and that there is a light at the end of this tunnel.
This helps me adult a lot. I watched this video 3 years ago and I’m 22 now and I couldn’t help but chuckle how out of place my life was before. Thank you.
Great video! Over the years the team at Wong Fu have really improved their ability of story telling with motivational messages through different mediums. To the point where an AD about a trashcan can be executed so well in both marketing and being insightful. Keep up the good work and thank you for continuing to inspire us younger teens/adults!
Just remembered this and came back to it after years. As an almost 29 year old going through this kind of phase, this is very relatable. This video gives me a sense of direction, some hope, and reinsurance that I’m following the right path. Very inspiring! Thank you for your work!
Haha I'm having a crisis right now bc I feel like my life is going to be over so soon and I have only a few years left to enjoy things but I have to prepare myself for the ending. I'm 19 now. So I'm watching this trying to learn something from it😂
An excellent video about adulthood. That old trash can is symbolic of a teenage kid leaving his adolescence years behind. And then growing up to adulthood with the new mettalic trash can. Nicely done!
I literally grow into adulthood with this video. I watched it first when I was still in college. Now, I just started working and it is even more relatable! Every time I experience big changes in my life, I always somehow come back to this video. Can't believe this is a trash can commercial. A truly evergreen content.
I have watched this multiple times, now that i have just started University. It helps me feel motivated and take control over my actions and my life, even though I'm just 18 and I am searching for part time student job. Love it❤
I am really happy that someone actually made a video on "How to become an adult". Becoming adult is not just about changing or upgrading yourself but also the process where you have faith in yourself.
Dear Wong Fu team, it's been 5 years since you've made this video, but I have revisited it every so often. It's my favourite thing you guys have ever created. Thank you.
Random UA-cam Watcher but many asian girls from Asia prefer Asians, given that they r self respecting, rich and capable individuals, I've met a korean girl that only dates Chinese, even poor Taiwanese, look for fobs, many of them have good self esteem, pride in their heritage, higher iq and academic achievements, richer family, willingness to from other cultures while keeping the best of their own, they r the best ; ) look for the term fobulous in urban dictionary, seek for those superior beings
Random UA-cam Watcher quit pulling statistics out of your ass. Also, quit being a victim. Yes, hollywood and western media negatively portray asian men but it doesn't prevent you from achieving anything in life. Hit the gym, work on your career, and build your social skills. You'll be more attractive than the majority of males in your country no matter where you are.
Random UA-cam Watcher Your comment is so ridiculous I don't know even know what to say. If "fat white retarded losers" are getting laid with 'bottom of the barrel asian girls" wtf does that have to do with you? The opposite is probably true of nerdy asian guys who date bottom of the barrel fat white girls who are into anime. Don't take this the wrong way, but I think you spend too much time on internet forums filled with losers. Your world view and reference points are so negative. Just focus on improving yourself and quit worrying about other people.
This genuinely is a video that was part of my inspiration to take charge of my life 4 years ago. Now, two job switches and a total of 400% hike later, I still come back to this video from time to time just to keep myself grounded. This video let’s me pat myself on the back as well as make me realise that the hustle has started. Learning to value the real important things in life family and health are some of the learnings I take away with each watch. Thank you!
This video has inspired me to change my life , to take control of it. The day is November 6, 2018. I will come back and update how my life will change for the better. Send positive vibes my way! 😄
I've been watching this short film every time I feel down. This gives me the inspiration to do the right thing. Now I am watching it again. I'm about to graduate college and move to another journey. I feel this short film is the guide line to adulting. Thank you
The video I didn’t know I needed 🥹❤ I started my personal growth journey at 23 after being heartbroken by someone I thought I would marry. It made me realize that I was operating life as a traumatized child and not as the emotionally intelligent adult I wanted to be. I am now 27 and was able to start counseling, got accepted in an Ivy League, published a best-selling book about my academic journey, and traveled to some of the most exciting countries in the world! This video truly brought tears to my eyes because it reminded me that everything is okay. I am okay, and I am on the right path even when things get tough. To anyone struggling with adulting, please know that you are not alone. If you do decide to become the hero you need, things will ultimately become clearer for you as you navigate this area of life. You got this!
As a 25 year old.. I'm realising my life is mess right now..I know what to do but I'm just stucked somehow. it's time to grow up & get things done. Starting now. Thanks for the inspiring content 🙏

I’m 30 , I got my first career job 6 months ago . I needed this now . I need to take my job serious . I need to be an adult . Thanks for this video
I'm 28 and i'm stuck in a position is this work really worth it? Is this work really go for my carreer? Now that i'm thinking about it i might getting worried about my future so is there a advice for me how to improve or etc?
Fuck it all man, quit if it makes you miserable.
Growing up shows how strong we can become when we're thrown to the wolves bless up and have an amazing day
This could be Ben's life if he live and the Umbrella Academy disbanded
True but now he’s gone gone 🥺

Shed a tear watching this video again ngl. 3 years ago, I watched this with nothing to my name, no motivation, no future. Tonight, I rewatch it again with everything I could ever ask for in life. This video will always hold a special place in my heart :’)
To everyone going through it, just keep going and know that it gets better. You got this!
Watching this at 16 man no probelms just looking to be ahead of my peers

We just have to keep improving our lives and keep moving forward :)

Cecily Crasto same here lol I saw this on facebook and i was the same be like “what’s gasket” 😂😂
We should definitely hang out together. I'm also rocking in the same boat, man. Sometimes I feel left behind.
Im entering my mid twenties, my life is no where near put together haha
I've never seen a more accurate depiction of my life right now
ikr
things will be better man
Im 15 and this is the best video ever. I always had a general idea of how i was gonna live as an adult. But this amde me realize that budgetting and scheduling is an essential part of a healthy life style. Thank you for this great video. Here again for Ben Hargreeves, precious 0.06.

KL 👏
Good for you 😄
Do you sometimes feel like life is passing you by though?

Thanks for this. Hope all is well for you

Great video! Over the years the team at Wong Fu have really improved their ability of story telling with motivational messages through different mediums. To the point where an AD about a trashcan can be executed so well in both marketing and being insightful. Keep up the good work and thank you for continuing to inspire us younger teens/adults!
Oh shit Tiff and Case!
This was well written, just like most of Wong Fu stuff.

An excellent video about adulthood. That old trash can is symbolic of a teenage kid leaving his adolescence years behind. And then growing up to adulthood with the new mettalic trash can. Nicely done!
I think this is one of the best WongFu videos, it flows so naturally, it's relatable, and it feels very organic. High props to you guys.

You'll be more attractive than the majority of males in your country no matter where you are.
reminds me of the main character of Big Hero 6
Random UA-cam Watcher Your comment is so ridiculous I don't know even know what to say. If "fat white retarded losers" are getting laid with 'bottom of the barrel asian girls" wtf does that have to do with you? The opposite is probably true of nerdy asian guys who date bottom of the barrel fat white girls who are into anime.
Don't take this the wrong way, but I think you spend too much time on internet forums filled with losers. Your world view and reference points are so negative. Just focus on improving yourself and quit worrying about other people.
Grace Lieu yessss
This genuinely is a video that was part of my inspiration to take charge of my life 4 years ago. Now, two job switches and a total of 400% hike later, I still come back to this video from time to time just to keep myself grounded. This video let’s me pat myself on the back as well as make me realise that the hustle has started. Learning to value the real important things in life family and health are some of the learnings I take away with each watch. Thank you!

Ben Hargreeves in heaven after season 2
Did I just willingly watch a 9 minute trash can ad and enjoy it?
Nope. We ALL did. So when can we go trash can shopping together?
"You've be living like a 21 year old for nine years."
I'm 25 and this still hit close to home lol
