@@stevenleonards4843 ADAS is not intrusive and do not cause issues. Sounds are different. Before, pedestrian sound were horrible. With Android Auto you can swipe down and up to access settings which you could not before (not sure if that is new since 2307 or 2309).
Just updated to version 2403, and the annoying noises are essentially gone, and the LKA is now actually very well behaved. I no longer need to turn anything off.
I do not agree with all points: 1. I am very happy with the quality. Any EV you buy now will lose 50% in value at least in 2 years as battery technology has changed so much. I do not worry about this as I live now. 2. Not true. I did test drive with version 2307 and 2309. Now latest version is 2310 and do not have any irritating sound or strange behavior at all. 3. Not a problem. I was worried about this as we have a lot of big and different speed bumps here in Spain. Also, my drive way is sloping. I have never bumped into anything. The lowest point is in front of the front well for aerodynamics. Other than that it has same or higher clearance than Tesla. But I do not compare with Tesla here really. I am saying that bumps and slopes have never been a problem and I have experienced many. 4. I agree. It is not for a big family to travel with many big suit cases. 5. I love the software. Few cars has Android Auto/Carplay. This is the UI you use mainly. Very seldom I go into the car settings. And now with latest version it is easier to switch and swipe. I am very focused on software issues (as I am a developer myself). I have created this page with (mostly) software feedback so the community can vote and add what is important: bydseal.kampsite.co/
I'm Turkey (Turkiye) and think to own an Atto 3 but wondering and thinking about Seal which is not available yet here. These were so useful to hear from you for me. Thank you, you were so good as always...
The headline makes it sound like there are problems with the Seal: #1 Uber's fault as the Seal has a more Premium ride. It has nothing to do with BYD they were right. #2 you can make a shortcut to turn off the speed beeps the others are not that hard to do. OTA updates should fix most of this. The bipping is NOT a major issue. Note too that the BYD battery can be charged to 100% every day this is not the case with non LFP batteries. #3 Man up and take it off. #4 You can also remove the false floor which gives you more storage. #5 Agreed but you can as I said make custom shortcuts. Range you have a point but all you have to do is bank on (say) 20KW/100 kms. you should be able do the math in your head to double check. The seat belts will move out of the way easily. For all the reasons you need an Atto 3 and leave the Seal to people that can appreciate it :)
I imagine the Seal is going to look strange if not fugly if you unscrew the below part of the bumper, plus other (possible) detrimental reasons I've mentioned as well.
I also "nearly" bought a Seal. I drove both the Performance and the Premium, and probably would have paid the extra for the Performance. Other than the increase in power it just "felt better" on the short demo I had. As I've said in many comments on few dozen UA-cam and review sites for a few months, the only reason, I cancelled my order and BTW received a refund from BYD within 2 hours of canceling - which was great service from BYD, was because the Seal has lower ground clearance compared to other sedan EV's on the market. Thanks Ian, you are the first reviewer to say what I've been saying for months. Although credit to Chris of Chris EV Road Trips, as he also alluded to the low clearance and apparently didn't purchase for the same reason. It simply wouldn't traverse my steep driveway without scraping the front bumper. Some speed humps and parking stops WILL be problematic. Removing that black large strip under the bumper isn't a valid option as it will affect ascetics and quite possibly dynamics and efficiency? I've ordered a Model 3 LR, but I'm sure I would have been happy with the Seal, although the "bings and bongs" you mention may have become a bit annoying. We also have an Atto 3, so if the bells etc are worse in the Seal that would become annoying! Btw, the Seal had 2 centimetres clearance to the concrete at the problematic juncture in my driveway. The Model 3 sits 4 centimetres higher. Not a huge amount, but adequate that with care I won't damage the bumper.
People who buy Tesla's are condoning the bad behaviour of elon musk. I wanted a tesla in the early days and thought musk was doing good things, but now I would not touch them. You have to have some ethics and moral code when making purchases. I enjoy my Atto 3 very much.
@@sammaimas155 I don't give a shit about Musk. His current involvement in Tesla is less than it was. Fingers in too many other pies. My decision to buy a Tesla had bugger all to do with him. I don't worship people. But the vehicle is bloody good. Reason enough for me to purchase it. So happy I didn't purchase the seal, even though we have an Atto 3.
Anyone in the same boat, seal vs model 3? Have to decide this week, have email from tesla to pay before delivery. Seal also on hold. I really like my Android auto. But the tesla drives better and has faster charging. Struggling to commit.
@Sensei_1_ picked up the 3 on the weekend. No regrets. 100% go with the 3 over the seal. OPD is just stellar, responsiveness to inputs, visibility out of windscreen, autopilot, touch screen sensitivity and software integration generational difference

For my my own exercise, i compared importing a serial hybrid for around $25k to an ev for $50k and for me the ev wins out (i intend to use the car for at least 100k kms fate permitting but thats me). Plus i don't what to wait another 3-6 months. PS fingers crossed our solar will be scheduled to be installed next week 🤞.
Resale on the performance will be crap. The dynamic is probably the best choice. I don't think you can justify spending a similar amount on a seal as a model 3. Despite all its creature comforts, Android auto, it feels clunky and underdone. I got the final invoice for the model 3, but still struggling with what to go with. Haven't cancelled the seal order. Need to decide within a week.
As I have reported on (mentioned above) and Ian also says. Make sure you are comfortable with the lower ground clearance before purchase. Buyer's remorse is not something any of us want! Sounds like the Model 3 will be a better option for you as it will be for me.
