Thanks for this really informative video. I took my board in to the Brisbane flagship store in October to see if it fit through the boot with one of the back seats down. I got some strange looks as I carried my surfboard into the store. The staff told me there was no roof racks available so I was keen to know if it would at least fit this way. Glad to say it did although roof racks would be better. I ride short boards so I doubt going through the boot would work for longboards.
@BYD_Owners Thanks for the mention. I have a couple of videos on the Sunroof on my channel. The HUD also shows turn by turn navigation and who is calling if you get a call. The height of the HUD can be adjusted for different height drivers, because you have to be looking directly at it to see it. Regarding the colours, normally cars have a light coloured undercoat, so you see deep scratched more on a black car, but with the seal the under colour is black. There is not a hard clear coat and the paint appears to be like a vinyl wrap, it's flexible but not very impact resistant. I have not added any window film, in fact some people here are saying that a dark film on the roof actually makes it hotter. I am however, considering PPF.
I was at the Alexandria showroom in Sydney for a test drive. Great car, I am now getting the premium to add to our Atto3. When I was there we discussed the dashcam with the sales guy. He said that all the wires are in so adding the camera should be easy. I was also hoping for the back seat 240V power socket like they have in the Europe reviews but looks like we do not get it. Keep up the good work. I am also getting the light coloured interior.
Thank you for the video. Only problem I found with the HUD is that it washes out if your wearing polarized sunglasses. Still didn't stop me putting a deposit down on an AWD. I'm expecting OTA updates for less annoying pedestrian warning sounds.
What colour seal did you order mate, I picked up my BYD Seal performance on Christmas day here in Thailand, i went for black. After reviewing pauls video on how to install the camera, and was easy.
Issues with privacy for dash cams is likely derived from data protection laws in that jurisdiction. Tesla being an American company will conform to most widely adapted laws. For Chinese / state owned companies there would likely be a lot of scrutiny with regard to how data is managed.
@@MM-mo9hn getting the plastic housing off was the biggest pain. Make sure to have a trim kit handy but installing and setting it up was extremely easy.
Are there clips on the housing, any tips on the install? what are the clips like do i need to push them in before it comes off or will it pop off@@ItsJonesy777
Just so I understand what you are saying, the current Seal delivered in Australia does not have any dash cam views so you are some how going to install cameras in a brand new car that should already have them as standard.
Thank you for your information about the Seal. I would like to get the 2-motor Seal and want to know if the Seal can have a towbar? I saw a Utube where the bloke said the Seal had a dashcam and all you needed was a media card to record on???
Ian, I wonder if you may be able to confirm towing weights. BYD website and owners manual is blank in reference to towing but recent NZ journo test drive of Seal quotes 1500kg towing capacity. Assume this would be braked of course. Tesla model 3 is only 750kg and doesn’t seem to enable use of electric brakes. Towing a small camper trailer is critical to my purchasing decision, just wanting to verify first what the weights for Aust are, or will be. Thanks…
Thanks for the video. It was really good information where is this place at? I want to see the Shark Grey in person, and so far, I haven't been able to see one, so may be I am lucky and find one there to look at. Thanks, I advance
Hi, enjoy your channel, i have ordered the performance with light upholstery as well. Far prefer it to the black upholstery. When I test drove it, I couldn’t get navigation guidance to come up in the heads up, supposed to be there. Have you had it come up on yours? Any luck getting a date when the light upholstery models are coming?
The HUD only shows turn by turn when you have selected a destination on the onboard navigation (not Google Maps on CarPlay) So you don’t see the map just “Turn Left in 3km”
Atto3 3 Owners in Sweden dont have the dashcam activated.. But how do I know if the cam hardwear is installed in the car at all. I also have problems with the heating in the Atto3 when the drive batterie goes down under 23 % ..my heating inside the car is low... But after charging the heating is back... Do you have a solution to this problem.
Ian, I haven't as yet placed a deposit on the performance, the thing that concerns me is the ground clearance, we have a very steep angled driveway, I had ordered a Tesla Model Y but had to cancel because it scraped badly. Have you attempted any unusual approaches to driveways or such and if so was the approach angle sufficient to alleviate scraping?
A very good question. My other car is an MG HS PHEV a Honda CRV sized SUV. Getting into the seal is much more of a challenge as the car is lower and the size of the door opening is far smaller 88cm v 105cm. So not only are you stepping down into the car, but you also have to duck your head down as well. This is a sports car and may be a challenge if you have movement issues. The easiest entry for me is exit in reverse, where I spin my legs round to put my feet on the ground and with one hand on the door pillar and one the other on the steering wheel pull myself out of the car while ducking my head at the same time.
I like using cruise control all the time. When comming to a stop in traffic, the Atto 3 is jerky. Breaks a little too hard then moves forward before breaking again. Is the Seal ACC any better?
Anybody here can help me? I got my seal on Friday. Saturday it was 97% charged, while browsing the quick options (pull dialog on the screen from up) I got a "transport mode", that asked for a keypass to deactivate. I have no idea what this does. I was about to use my car today monday (I codun't beofre as the insurance policy was not ready), but the car is compeltly dead, I was only able to open the doors by pressing the button, but not even the seats have power, nothing works. I looks like it run out of power, but I can't see how it discharged in two days without any driving. Perhaps this transport mode is to blame? Also the house charger seems to not charge any longer the baterry, 0 ampereres, I press the action button on the charger and tells "iNVALID key". Is the car locked out? I have not been able to find anything on the manual on this transport mode (it has a truck icon) or what to do in this case Any ideas?
to get out of transport mode you need first to do a combination of pressing buttons, I thing i did them by chance, then deactivate it using the code 1111 @@Leeviathon
@@sithabelamandlawenkosiwodu6298 it didn't run out of battery, the blame is the transport mode that places the car in a deep hibernation mode (to transport it over the sea). In some way I managed to wake it up (I think is a combination of things to do), and I got the password 1111 from the car seller to deactivate the mode. This mode it is only meant to be used once, and shouldn't be available to consumers
Bought the awd in Ireland, first ev, cant wait, 530hp is nuts!

The cable for the camera is included and it is the same camera as used in the Atto 3.

Dashcams should be mandatory in all new cars. Why? As a safety requirement. I hope in Australia the government makes it a requirement for new cars.

Thanks. I will try that.
Instead of roofracks maybe get a towbar and use a small trailer or bike rack?
Roofracks will reduce range and increase noise

No it want
