Being an owner of bmw 310gs i can guarantee no other bike can give you the comfort it provides best ride quality ....drove it around 300 kms at a stretch without any stoppage believe me i had no issues ..... Ktm (with more power and much more advanced features)seat is very well cushioned, not suited for long distance, the suspension too is on the harder side....
Don't blindly believe that slightly more power makes the KTM more VFM. G 310 GS is purpose-built and will serve you better than the KTM everywhere you plan to take it.

Good review but I wish ktm was actual adventure bike, nothing can be compared to an adventure bike.. performance, electronics, sharp handling is something I would look for in a sbk not a adv bike, comfort/ergos/low end power is priority
I have 390 adv.. use 2 month 4.5k km Bike is very good but just 2 very big problem Seat is very hard Front break very noise (but now solve this problem I was change breakpad Other wise very good bike... And don't forget seat hardness And bmw is royal and luxury seat I very impressed But power is ktm 👍👌
Test rode both of these. Hands down KTM is a better machine. The BMW did not put a smile on my face even when I took the second test ride. You feel that there’s something off with the motorcycle. Hop on the KTM and there’s a big smile on the face😄 The gearing on the BMW is absolute trash, and if you are a motorhead you’ll notice it immediately. The refinement levels are also not good. The machine has no soul to put it one way. I was avoiding the KTM only for how it looks, but once you’re past that, and you know what it is made for, it is an absolute fun bike to own. You can modify it with powerparts in the future to your liking and more! One more thing, the dash on the bmw (the one thing you look at all the time) is nothing compared to the beautiful tft display you have which makes you feel you’re riding something special. Should have been opposite ways but🤷🏻♂️
The KTM is just fab. No comparison with BMW310. It out shines is all respects. Use the bike more and you will be surprised by its performance. Everything is awesome

It's not that expensive. U take ur ktm adv 2 times for service every year and will have to shell out 2 to 4k per service. 310gs costs 5 to 7k per year service.
You talked about suspension, but didn't talk about the adjustable suspension on bmw g 310gs, which is a big factor whether you drive on road or off-road. You can make it soft or firm as you like. Which is a BIG tick box for some people.
IN the manual on line for Canada the serves are 7500 Km for the KTM 390 Adventure not 5000 Km factor in the cost of parts and oil, oil filter, air filter much les cost on the KTM they come out pretty even in the end.

bmw 310 gs is now 4.25 on road in bangalore and im hearing a LOT of alternator, battery and gear pin issues. Can this team find out and update consumers? Also heaed smaller sprocket fixes low end torque issue in KTM

No it won't. I am 5'8 and had no problem with it. The only thing that bothers is the height of the handlebar. Would be better if one installs it from aftermarket particularly from art of motorcycles.
I don't know if I am right about this, so correct me if I am wrong, here goes: 5:23, 5:34 look at only the bikes. KTM appears to be a bit more jittery than the BMW due to firmer suspension. Since off-roading is focused on traction and control rather than speed, softer suspension which will move easily over uneven surfaces is better. 12:25 Again, look at only the bikes. KTM appears to be planted while the BMW is bobbing up and down due to the softer suspension. Since highway touring involves speeds, firmer suspension which can even out the tiny undulations of the asphalt will be better for a planted traveling experience.
Stock bike is meant for 20% off road and 80% on road and suspension is great at lower speeds on bad roads. But with little modification and with the addition of rally raid kits it can do serious offloading.
I’m an ex Benelli 600gt owner and I’m looking for an exchange. Tilting towards the bmw but no doubt the wonderful rc is really good. IMHO ktm is better for my riding style. But the bmw 310 was no underdog Edit: Confused. Hope I hadn’t seen this video
