Bowie was way before his own time. He had a Nirvana thing way before anyone ever heard of Nirvana. I appreciate Cobain for his tribute to the great David Bowie.
Just to clarify, both artists were amazingly original but Bowie (my favorite artist of all time) really did not have any style remotely resembling what Nirvana (my second favorite artists) did. I agree with you. cobain's version is just as good as the original because of how careful he was about covering other people's work--and his scratchy voice adds effect. all in all, obviously, kids that grew up in the '90s are gonna be more familiar with the nirvana version and like it better as where kids that grew up in the '70s will be more familiar with the original. this is a rare example of a cover version actually being as good as the original. think about "something in the air." thunderclap or tom petty? both also perfect. but I still like the heartbreakers version better. I am a nirvana fan. The amount of comparison between the original piece and nirvanas cover is never ending. Over at nirvana's cover of this song, the comments section is much more peaceful. Those who didn''t know that this is a david bowie's original accepted the fact as soon as they learnt. Even kurt cobain said that this was a david bowie song. Trolls will be trolls. Don't feed them by responding.
I love David Bowies version the most and I do enjoy the Midge Ure version and the Nirvana one is alright nothing compared to Bowies or Ure's versions though
I cannot decide whether David Bowie or Kurt Cobain sings this song better. I know David wrote it and his performance is brilliant. Kurt's voice is so brilliant. May both of them rest in peace and thanks for creating and singing these lovely songs.
We passed upon the stair, we spoke of was and when, although i wasn't there, he said i was his friend, which came as some surprise. i spoke into his eyes, "i thought you died alone a long long time ago." "oh no, not me, i never lost control you're face to face with the man who sold the world." i laughed and shook his hand and made my way back home, i searched for form and land, for years and years i roamed. i gazed a gazley stare at all the millions here: "we must have died alone, a long long time ago." "who knows? not me, we never lost control. you're face to face with the man who sold the world." "who knows? not me, we never lost control. you're face to face with the man who sold the world.
Hello There You are WRONG about all your 'corrections'- It is 'form and land" and it is 'gazed a gazely stare at all the millions here". Don't make corrections when you don't actually know.

I think its decent but I wouldn't say 10 out 10.. I mean Bowie is one of the greatest artists ever but he wrote the album when he was 22-23 and much like Hunky Dory its far far from being flawless and while the foundations of what would eventually become quintissentially Bowie are certainly there, its still quite unclear.
OMG, I was just listening to songs from 1970 and ran into this one and I was like hold up I've heard this before. I had no idea it was a later song by Nirvana but was written by Bowie back in 1970. Just so refreshing to hear the original. Love Bowie so much

All Hail The Thin White Duke! Brilliant muscian, lyricist, actor, and one of the coolest people on the planet. He is sorely missed.
Боже ! Я завидую небесам какие превосходные легенды от нас ушли 💔 Майкал , Курт ,Фредди , Дэвид ... их очень много 💥
Чем завидовать то? Сатанюги те еще...

Kurt and David are the only two who have ever done a really great job on this song
Same with Midge Ure.
El genio David la creó y Kurt hizo algo mágico que es versionarla sin estropear una joya.
+Antonio Comer midge ure perfected it. Still more relevant than original.
midge ure did a good version I like it more then nirvannas
I love David Bowies version the most and I do enjoy the Midge Ure version and the Nirvana one is alright nothing compared to Bowies or Ure's versions though
уверен,что эта песня вдохновит в 2020 году так же, как и до этого вдохновляла людей на что-то новое и прекрасное

Such a beautiful song......

Bowie was ahead of his time...top artist.
I cannot decide whether David Bowie or Kurt Cobain sings this song better.
I know David wrote it and his performance is brilliant. Kurt's voice is so brilliant. May both of them rest in peace and thanks for creating and singing these lovely songs.
This is definitely a Bowie song. Amazing.
Yup
There is and only will be one David Bowie. There's no one else to compare to him.
We lost a great singer and songwriter... R.I.P. David Bowie
Both great versions of an all time classic song. The melody has an entrancing sound that draws you into a great space and another time, ******
We passed upon the stair,
we spoke of was and when,
although i wasn't there,
he said i was his friend,
which came as some surprise.
i spoke into his eyes,
"i thought you died alone
a long long time ago."
"oh no, not me,
i never lost control
you're face to face
with the man who sold the world."
i laughed and shook his hand
and made my way back home,
i searched for form and land,
for years and years i roamed.
i gazed a gazley stare
at all the millions here:
"we must have died alone,
a long long time ago."
"who knows? not me,
we never lost control.
you're face to face
with the man who sold the world."
"who knows? not me,
we never lost control.
you're face to face
with the man who sold the world.
Joseph Mckvelico i think it is simply about loneliness
Joseph Mckvelico Thanks a million for posting the lyrics!
Thank you from France !!
Hello There You are WRONG about all your 'corrections'- It is 'form and land" and it is 'gazed a gazely stare at all the millions here". Don't make corrections when you don't actually know.
@@clemson8585 it's form and land but it's we walked a million hills
my ultimate musical hero i was born in 1960. Bowie ha s resonated throughout my life .

Loving listening to Bowie today. One year anniversary of his passing.
I discovered this album in 1985. The whole album is mind blowing.
The Man Who Sold The World album.
Check it out if you haven’t. 10 out of 10
I did. Confirmed.
Both Kurt n David are great musicians.. Rest in Peace
OMG, I was just listening to songs from 1970 and ran into this one and I was like hold up I've heard this before. I had no idea it was a later song by Nirvana but was written by Bowie back in 1970. Just so refreshing to hear the original. Love Bowie so much
