My jig saw broke about 6 months ago. So I didn’t make any curved cuts until I got a commission for a small fishing rod holder. The jig saw I wanted to upgrade to cost $80, so I charged him $80 for a rod holder and bought the jigsaw. :)

Did you make the frame for these nightstands or did you purchase them from somewhere?

I upgrade my equipment when one of four things happen.
1). When an old tool breaks, I upgrade it.
2). When a job requires a better quality tool.
3). When an extremely good deal pops up - example, end of financial year deals or pre/post Christmas deals.
4). I go out and spend money on a whim.
My wife hates number 4 and I guess I can’t really blame her but I’m a lot better with money these days than when I started my business a few years ago.
Oftentimes, 3 and 4 happen at the same time. Occasionally 1 or 2 happen at the same time as 3 and that always leaves a nice feeling inside.

You might consider obtaining a good quality jointer, your table tops show the edges where they are joiner together. Or the cheaper mether is to buy yourself a good No 5 hand plane and smooth the edges. Either way you obtain a more professional look to your furniture. One other method you may consider is to use hand scrapers to finish your table tops. By using different thicknesses you can obtain a smoothness you will never get with a sander. And oh, that sawdust on the floor or in the bag, that leaves a better smoothness and finish when you vigorously run the wood with it. Just a couple of thoughts.

$1000 with no joinery? Pocket hole screws and screwed together butt joints. When you find that sucker send them my way. Not that there's anything wrong with pocket hole screws and butt joints but for $1000 dollars I would need to see some half lap dovetails or something.

I love your zoom of youth .The pieces look nice. I am a retired finish carpenter. May I suggest that you make your drawer boxes with the side pieces overlapping the front and the back pieces so as to cover up plywood end-grain.. and also make the joints there of in shear rather than in tension. I tend to like the drawer box to be made from hardwood rather than plywood also, as it looks nicer and more professional. Keep up the good work !!

      Send that sucker your way?
Any big box import furniture store sells questionable quality furniture lacking traditional joinery every single day.
So when you talk about joinery realize most people do not inspect the construction as long as it holds up.
Most people don't know what you are talking about and don't care to retain the information after you explain it.
Dovetails are great (my preferred drawer method because PC made an excellent jig which makes them quick and easy), but it does not make the sale. The overall look makes the sale along with the idea of it being a one of a kind custom piece.
If they start making more drawers, it makes perfect sense to imvest money in a good dovetail jig. For now that is not his focus.

Jennie and Davis ... you will NOT attract customers who want quality workmanship and who are willing to pay for it unless you demonstrate that you can do quality work. Construction grade material and homeowner grade workmanship will only take you so far.
Also, it is the little details that matter most. Did anyone notice the grain on the top is 90 degrees from the grain on the bottom shelf. And dovetails on the drawers would go a long way. Savvy customers know the difference between your just saying, “I make quality stuff” and actual quality in the product. I have been in business for over 40 years (not doing woodworking) and I am not trying to slam you. I love your enthusiasm and drive, but you seem very reluctant to accept advise from seasoned woodworkers and seasoned business people. Sure there are haters on most every you tube channel. But most people that comment want to offer helpful advise and don’t want to see you fail. They take time to try to be helpful. YOU TWO REALLY NEED TO BE A LITTLE MORE RECEPTIVE.
One more thought... talking about how much money you made and how easy it is to make lots of money, etc in a public forum will drive away the budget-minded, low-end customer. It is just not good business practice. Customers will decide on their own if your products have value and those people who are thinking about starting a wood working business can figure out if they can make money at this. You are relatively new business people. Stop trying to sound like experts and give sage advise. You have not reached that point yet. Good luck.

@@jennieanddavis This comment right here is all I need to read to know you care more about making money than you do about the quality of you work. Someone with such little knowledge and experience in the field, and you are more focused on finding some rich sucker to bankroll your hobby instead of actually taking every job like you say in your video to help hone your craft. Just another low-end creator trying to ponzi scheme people into buying your "get rich quick" advice. Half of this video was unnecessary "filler" to get it over the 10 minute mark for advertising ability. Not to mention you only have 50k subscribers, but have a merch store? I know some of the on screen comments are meant to be jokes or Easter eggs and that's OK but others are a little too fast for the slow readers and/or those that can't fully focus on watching the video and listen more.
