When Steve saw his Sailor album he must of thought to himself, "Now here's a real fan". One of my favorite albums of his especially the song Quicksilver Girl.
That man with the long gray hair, blue shirt, and hat is Norton Buffalo. died back in 2009 from lung cancer at the age of 58. This performance in Chicago was one of his last with the band before he died in October.
Too bad. Buffalo was one of the finest harp players I ever saw. Saw him in '75 with Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen in a club in West Berkeley called the Longbranch.
From my first album, when record were 33 rpms. :) I fell in love, it was tough to choose between greatest hits and super tramps breakfast in america. Awesome first two albums to open on christmas morning.
Totally agree about the R&R Hall of Shame, after all Madonna & (I think ? Ice Cube) are in it, but still, this man has been rockin' since the late 60's! I would have bet money that he WAS in it. WTF? Oh well, I doubt that it's something that keeps Steve awake at night.
Love this song, but having figured it out, it takes a very special tuning to get that harmonic in the last verse, which this version sorely lacks. Brilliant original production, though!!!

One of my favorite bands and one of my favorite songs... but is it just me or is the drummer holding back on the tempo??? Seems like this one is about 10 beats per minute to slow.

There is nothing worse than a session musician playing a 30 year old mega-hit and NOT BOTHERING TO LISTEN TO THE ORIGINAL RECORDING. There is a reason this was a hit - the original musicians rocked. BUY THE CD AND L I S T E N TO IT FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!!! The drums made the original song. Same with the lame guitar here. This is painful. Steve Miller rocks but these guys need to check out what the song sounds like !!!
Saw him when I was 14-UPS Fieldhouse, Tacoma, Wa. 1968. Yeah, they were great!
Great song. Brings back great memories as a teen
LOVE this band. Class act, always!
Greatings from Norway.
Steve Miller Band has many fans here too...
That bass tone is gnarly!
I keep telling my girlfriend from the Philippines that I'm going to get her a crate of papaya. She doesn't understand. Not until i sent her this song.
Steve Miller Band! Delighting me and my friends for 43 years!
Now that was cool of Steve to sign that lady's album cover , When was the last time anyone saw todays "stars" do that ?
I remember watching this on WTTW Channel 11
god, classic 60's 70's and 80's artist had so much talent, unlike other bands today.
Greatest band of all times. Love the music and the guys.Great rhythmn.
When Steve saw his Sailor album he must of thought to himself, "Now here's a real fan". One of my favorite albums of his especially the song Quicksilver Girl.

I like this live but not as much as the original version
Damned Strats. Play something with some guts. And yes, I DO own one! Still can't stand them. Make good rhythm guitars and that's it.
Jimi Hendrix & Stevie Ray Vaughn Both played Strats
That's exactly what I was thinking!
Though I do prefer the Tele ...
Iron Maiden doesn't have guts? Maybe it's your playing, not Strats...
michael kaus tell joe bonamassa strats have no guts
