Brandon has done amazing quilts in a short period of time. I hope you will be inspired to dive deep into what you like to do in quilting. And maybe try a biscotti quilt too. Enjoy
I love these interviews, but Brandon just blew me away. I can't explain well enough how this interview 'tickled my brain's I am gob smacked. Thank you for choosing him and sharing this interview.
I am with you Brendon - I am also hyper focused. Following the deaths of parents and grandparents in 2019 I threw myself into quilting. in 2020 I completed 40 quilt tops, mostly still just flimsies. Now I have taken on an ambassador role with Pat Sloan and do weekly UA-cam tutorials to go along with her sew alongs. Thank you Karren for this interview - I can now direct people here to get an understanding of my social awkwardness and blunt style of talking. Brendon explained it better than I ever could.
I enjoy the solitude and socializing of quilting. I can pick and choose either so I don’t get too much of one or the other. When I’m alone I do love my music. When working on a southwestern project, I listen to Native American flute. When I’m working on a Christmas quilt, I love Christmas music, etc. Music speaks to me as does quilting. Kudos to these two artists. Ty.
I also love Native American flute. I haven't thought of listening to music while I quilt (I often have quilting UA-cam videos playing) but the next time I'm at my machine, I'm trying music.
Came back to watch this delightful interview, for the third time. One of my favorite lines, "If it doesn't tickle my brain, I am not doing it." Thanks Karen, and thank you Brandon.
What a wonderful interview! His insight about his autism and how he has "learned" to work with it was heartwarming and encouraging. Thank you to both of you!
Love, love, love this interview, Karen you are doing a amazing job with your selections of gifted quilters. I had to watch this one twice. Of course I now have to follow Brandon on Instagram, very appealing. Thanks for all you share. 👍❤️😊
No other designer you have interviewed affected me as much as Brandon Wulf. By sharing his story I recognized ways that I think and produce my art that I have never been able to explain adequately to those people who demand explanations. Thank you so much.
What a talented quilter! And a beautiful soul! OMG that biscotti quilt is amazing. I may need to sign up for that class! I love how Brandon pushes the boundaries of quilting and has given himself freedom to create unique pieces of art.
I’m not autistic, but I have the same anxiety with too many people at once. There’s too much noise and too much drama too often. I’m happy to hear I’m “normal.” Lol
What a fascinating man and great interview! One of my adult grandsons is dealing with Asberger's Syndrome, so is hyperfocused and struggles with socialization. I really heard the comments about not understanding body language and social subtleties. A lot of what Brandon talked about helps me understand my beloved Grant! Thanks so much for interviewing Brandon. (And his Biscotti quilts and whole cloth quilting are astounding!)
Wow!! What a wonderful interview…Brandon is such an interesting person and loved his perspective on quilting and fabrics. So talented it just blows me away.
what a fantastic interview. I'm an introvert with a slight hearing loss and have struggled with large groups and verbal nuances my whole life! It can be so stressful and energy-draining to constantly be on guard. Nice to know I'm not alone!! It's OK to admit discomfort and self-select interactions. Loving zooms, finding it hard to return to in-person. His work is amazing. thanks so much for this introduction to a wonderful being.
Brandon your grandma is an absolute legend and an inspiration for all us quilters. I now must convince my husband that parking a bus in the yard is a good idea lol. Simply amazing
I found this an amazing interview on so many levels. In particular, someone I love was recently diagnosed with autism in their sixties and after a lifetime of struggles, it made so much sense of many things. It was fabulous to see how Brandon works with his autism. We should all know our strengths and weaknesses in such a powerful way and be pushing forward to our best. VERY inspiring.
This was a great interview in a great series, but please remember that autism is a spectrum disorder with each individual having different strengths and struggles. I recently found out in my 50’s that I have ASD which explains a lot (honesty all the time).
Brandon is incredible! His work is stunning! He is captivating to listen to! I work with children with autism. I wish I could play this interview for all the neurotypical people in the world. He presents the autistic point of view beautifully. Thank you for sharing him with us.
Watched this video yesterday, bought the course this morning and started watching the lessons. Made notes along the way, 2 hours ago I went to the sewing room and decided on the fabrics,,,, I’m already halfway through the construction of the first step. This is going to be an awesome experience. THANKS Karen for all the wonderful things you’ve exposed us to.
WOW! Brandon touched on so much that I really relate to...autism and I didn't realize it. Thank you! I knew it runs in my family but didn't know the extent the spectrum has and how much I have in common with Brandon. This sheds a whole new light on things for me. I always enjoy your videos. Please keep them coming. ♥
I absolutely adore your quilt circle videos. They are all amazing. But this is on another level. Absolutely wonderful interview! Thank you, Karen and Brandon!
Brandon, when you started speaking about how fabrics may come and go, that nothing is gonna be around forever so just use it, that was spoken directly to me. I DO THAT! Hold on to fabric until I'm more experienced. So afraid of making waste. Started a pattern called stars in the crown, and it required several sets of flying geese-my first attempt! Ooo, exciting. Thank you Accuquilt for allowing me to manage to cut ALL the pieces out in one day. Thank you chain piecing for zooming me through losing my count, and confusing me properly! And some day, I'll figure out how to use all those flying geese that are too short at the points! 😆 It's hard to say, well, this is all wrong, can I use it some other way? Should I rip it all apart? Should I just put it away and move on, hoping that it'll come in handy somewhere down the road? That's what I did. I may decide to rip and try it again, but making all those mistakes taught me-the yellow fabric was too flimsy. I learned a something after all from that. I still have the pattern. The next time, it will be better!!
An amazing man with a unique twist on quilting. Just wonderful to listen to him and hear his laugh. Many thanks Karen. Another great interview from you. Sydney, Australia 🌺
That was an AMAZING interview. I'm definitely interested in taking Brandon's biscotti class. His biscotti quilts just seem to glow. And I really appreciate his attitude regarding "mistakes."
"Leaning in" reminded me of something Gerald Roy said at a class of his that I took at the Vermont Quilt Festival. Rather than take a whole bunch of classes on different topics, pick an area and explore multiple aspects of it.
Karen you are AMAZING How do you find these unusual and brilliant quilters. Brandon is different and so so wonderful. Thank you for sharing. I cant even explain how much you have taught me in quilting.
I love this interview! I have the same tendencies as Brandon and made me feel better about the way I quilt. Love your videos Karen! Your’e so inspirational!
I really enjoyed learning about Brandon's creative process. It gives me the urge to cut into my "preciously preserved" cotton! Thanks for another great interview :)
What an amazing man and maker , it's so interesting to hear how his brain works creatively ,and it's great that it's also educating a bit about autism . Great video ,thank you Karen .
Wow -- the Biscotti quilts; I hope he has a class on this! I can't type what I said out loud when I first saw it. Something very freeing about his style and philosophy about fabric, colors, and quilting -- reminds me of your interview with Chris English. Brandon really inspires me to break free of some molds! Thanks for another great interview.
Wow! His classes sound intense. My sister can do a quilt top in a day. It takes me a week to cut out a row. Giant tortoises and sloths sew faster than I do.
I think of "tickle my brain" akin to "makes my heart happy". There's something to be said for having the ability to treat the fabric as fabric, to be used and not "stashed". Biscotti...now that's a cool concept...has a one block wonder "feel" to it but much more random. Love the table runner.
⭐️🌟💫🌟⭐️ Just WOW! My 11yo grandson is autistic and was watching with me, and when he heard Brandon say that HE was autistic, too, he thought it was cool! He made associations like both having brown hair and eyes, etc. Logan ended up going to the store with his Poppy, but the rest of the interview really helped me and gave me a little more insight into Logan. He's recently come to live with us because he seems to do better than with his 4 younger brothers and sisters, especially with sensory overload. School is about to start, which is going to be something new for us, dealing with his challenges. I appreciated Brandon's point of view!!❤️❤️
Thanks for another lovely interview, Karen, nice to meet you, Brandon. The quilt behind him is similar to the one you have behind you on some of your older videos, color palette is strikingly different.
This man is fascinating. I’ve got to follow him on social media for sure. His education background gives him a whole foundation about textiles, etc., that most of us do not have. I love his asking the question, how far can I take this?

@@bwulffandco2256 I purchased the Biscotti on demand and I cannot wait to watch it! The quilts you have listed on your website are stunning and unique!
