My husband and I played Avicii’s version at our wedding. Nine years later, I played it at his funeral. We just got done setting his headstone. It was misting rain. Got in the car. It’s on the XM Bluegrass station. And that’s the song that came on, this version. ❤❤❤
I'm an american born of Mexican descent.. grew up listening to Hip Hop and Rap in Los Angeles.. and through the love of music and film over the years.. I ended up here with one of my favorite Bluegrass singers.. although I should say it was in part due to the Soggy Bottom Boys.. an amazing movie, with amazing music. hats off to you Mr. Dan Tyminski.
Too bad he had to wait a decade because he sold the rights in the recording contract. Why you never sell out to the mainstream industry lmfao. Dude would be WAY BETTER off if he just released THIS a decade ago. Talks about it in multiple interviews that he regrets the decision. Furthermore he was already an established musician by the time he did the soundtrack for Oh Brother Where Art Thou.
As a novice bluegrass listener I feel lucky to come across this fantastic song. Its feeling reminds me of Dooley. Any advanced bluegrassers know others that have similar feeling?
DAN. I have so many feels. This song was tremendous nine years ago, but now I'm quite certain it was meant to be a bluegrass song and you have made that song the way it was born to have been. I will always love Avicii's original, don't get me wrong. But it feels like he spoke through you from beyond. Outstanding. Now I'm going to go cry for a while.
Avicii did hear this. He is the one who sang the track for Avicii. In fact Avicii specifically reached out to Dan to sing this song and wrote it specifically for Dan's vocal type. He wasn't credited in the track because Avicii wrote the song and the lyrics.
I was in my senior year at school when I first discovered these Avicii songs. Wake Me Up is a good one. When I first heard this one it transported me to another world. Beautiful piece of music, beautiful lyrics, fantastic vocals. Who knew a country twang would adapt so well into a dance song? This version just complete the experience
Now all the kids are trying to add country twang to their songs lol. But Dan and Avicii (and many before them) were already doing modern country/bluegrass match ups
True story I saw that George Clonney movie and thought: who ever is singing that Constant sorrow song is amazing!! Then Hey brother came out and thought: who ever is singing that song is amazing!! Then I saw the Clooney film again and thought is this the same guy that sings with avicci? Make some research and found my favourite singer is called Dan Tyminski and now my favourite album is Southern Gothic
All in about 20 minutes I find out who the voice behind one of the best tracks in one of my favorite movies AND one of my favorite EDM songs is. What a Rollercoaster lol glad I found ya Dan!
This is an emotional song for me. My little brother shared this with me when it first came out, and he's gone now. Taken in a car accident five years ago at age twenty-one. Man, how I wish I could hang out with him one more time. "There's nothing in this world I wouldn't do" to have that. There is hope, though. No sorrow is too great for Jesus. Trust in Him.
@@dantyminskiofficial well all do mate best piece of music ever avicii could never ask different person to sing this he choose best person ever to sing it and that's you mats 😢😢❤❤❤
hot damn I was expecting a heartfelt country ballad, when the bluegrass kicked in it swept me of me feet! amazing cover, amazing voice, amazing instrumentalists and amazing arrangement if I had a cowboy hat I'd tip it to you good people, great work EDIT: so apparently you actually (co-)wrote this song? no wonder this version is so awesome then, even greater work!!
This song performs the recognition of all personell which is doing their job (military, fire fighters etc. etc.)... And I mean troughout the western world... THX for this song... I´m still for my "Brothers/Sisters" in Arms...
I first heard this version a few weeks ago when my wife was streaming her bluegrass channel. I legit lept out of my chair when this started playing! Absolute killer of a song, Dan!!!!! Love you and Avicii!
Pretty hard to compete with this one right here The lyrics The vocals The harmonies The musicianship The way Dan let’s each musician showcase their talents and perfectly integrates each instrument The way the group interacts with one another on camera, you can SEE their relationship together I keep watching this over and over and every time I watch it keeps getting better Just outstanding
This song has always motivated me, its helped me in all the hard times ive had...now, as an adult, hearing it FINALLY in bluegrass form...i cant express how happy i am.❤❤❤
I've been listening to, Dan Tyminski since I was a kid in the early 2000's when he was with, Alison Krauss. He's only improved since I've gotten older.
Dan was super back in the Union Station days, surrounded by other amazing band members, ( check it out) and he's still got it. Plus he's a Vermont boy, go figure :)
Wow. I’m from Alaska originally, lived in Oregon for decades. My grandma was an okie and I proudly wear that label in her honor. I’ve never been moved to tears by a song until this one. God Bless and best of all worldly wishes to Dan and company
I have never been much of a fan of Bluegrass. I am a classical musician who played French Horn professionally. I can not get enough of "Hey Brother...." done by this band!!!!! Dan's voice and the instrumentalists are FANTASTIC! I play wooden recorders now (soprano, alto, and tenor). I go for the Irish flute/ Native American flute sound. I would so love to jam with these folks!!! (God, I love the banjo!) Dan, if you are looking for a recorder to add a new dynamic to any of your songs, PLEASE contact me!!!! Let's try something. I feel your spirit.
Wish my younger bro and I were closer… ever since I got in trouble when I was younger he’s always kinda resented me. Maybe one day it’ll be like when we were little… thanks for the happy tears sir!
I love our American folk music. When I was younger, I always wondered why I didn't like most country, but there was a specific type of "country" that I did like which I came to understand was bluegrass. You get groups like this and Flatt Lonesome, and you really find some awesome stuff. Great musicians with great emotion.
Hey Brother has been my favourite song since it was released, Avicii still is my favourite artist. Hearing it in "your" genre is a big big honor. Thank you so much for this version.
Avicii was a genius and Dan's vocals and passion are absolutely next level. Their work together was an incredible and fitting collaboration between two amazing artist and I'm sad that one was taken from us far too soon to realize his true potential.
Absolutely amazing musicians. There’s something about the combination of multiple stringed acoustic instruments that can turn a song into a beautiful symphony. I’ve played guitar for 25 years, and I’ve only recently realized that the roots of my musical taste is rooted from bluegrass and similar songs like this. Thank you for the wonderful musicianship and lyrics and keep on strummin!
When you can take an awesome EDM piece and do it as full-bluegrass you’ve done well. Your vocals on Avicii’s original were amazing, and I always wondered what a true bluegrass cut would sound like. Well, now I wonder no more. Thanks, guys!
My husband and I played Avicii’s version at our wedding. Nine years later, I played it at his funeral. We just got done setting his headstone. It was misting rain. Got in the car. It’s on the XM Bluegrass station. And that’s the song that came on, this version. ❤❤❤

I'm so sorry for your loss
🫢😢 I’m so very sorry. But that’s tragically beautiful.
God bless you. Sending you much love
May he rest in peace ❤ he was there with you in the song
THE definitive voice of bluegrass.....
I am rocker and metalhead, but i absolutely love this. Can't stop listening. Amazing!
Back in the day I got joked on for buying a metal CD plus a mountain music or blue grass CD every two weeks when I went to get a haircut 😄.
Beautiful art kind of stands on it's own, doesn't it?
Same here!!! This is just badass!!!🤘🏼🤘🏼
And who doesn't love it, right?
I'm a metalhead too but gotta love some good ole Dan he's a beast brings the hair on the back of your neck up
I wasn't expecting him to actually be the singer of the Avicii version, I thought this would be just a straight cover. Good stuff
I'm an american born of Mexican descent.. grew up listening to Hip Hop and Rap in Los Angeles.. and through the love of music and film over the years.. I always associate constant sorrow with Ralph Stanley, but now I remember Dan did the version for the movie
same bro, I would love to hear a Spanish version of this. Country and bluegrass shares and carries over well
I saw Dan Tyminski with Allison Kraus and Union Station open for Willie Nelson. It was the best show I ever went to.
Where was that? I just saw a Willie show recently but I missed opening acts
Amazing show.
Holy smokes! That’s a brilliant lineup. I wish that memory remains for all your days.
Ever since I recognised Dan’s voice on Avicii’s track I’ve been wanting to hear this version😍 so good!!!
Right!!! Same here!!! This is just amazing!!!
Finally the "original" version! ;)
It’s fricken amazing!!!
I agree. I’ve been waiting for this for years

RIP Matthew! Prayers and thoughts for you and yours.

ugh, “there was nothing I could do” 😭 my bro passed 10/26/21 💔
I'm sorry.. I lost my brother Jan 14th in 07. I know that feeling. But when that sky came down on us.. They rode in with it and will always be with us
Huge hugs to you for your loss.
Avicii would be proud of y'all.
You do realize this guy does the vocals for the avicii version right?
I am sure Tim would be proud of this version of the song you guys did together
My Grandpa Bill would have loved this, especially the mandolin being absolutely shredded on
As a novice bluegrass listener I feel lucky to come across this fantastic song. Its feeling reminds me of Dooley. Any advanced bluegrassers know others that have similar feeling?
Because this song is written and made by Swedish EDM producer Avicii. It's not a bluegrass song from the begining.
DAN. I have so many feels. This song was tremendous nine years ago, but now I'm quite certain it was meant to be a bluegrass song and you have made that song the way it was born to have been. Why did this take 9 years? Incredible. Better late than never I suppose.
A version that equals the original, thank you Dan for making this work of art Avicii would be proud

Let’s reach out to our brothers and sisters BEFORE the sky falls down, y’know?
Me gusta mucho el instrumental y la letra me llego al corazón Saludos desde el corazón de AMERICA latina Bolivia que Dios los bendiga mucho
Amigo, we are all hermanos!
Honestly this is better than the original imo
100%
Nah, it doesn't have the emotion that the original has
@@MrTsuyoshi123It's musically better because it's more cohesive but it does lose a little of it's emotion
No
Probably the most moving piece of music I´ve ever heard. R.I.P Avicii. He would be proud of you all.

Musicianship at its finest right here 🙏👊🇮🇪

Chills. Dan you’re my new hero. I’m an artist in Nashville I hope to fun into you soon!
I can't tell you how many times I've watched & listened to this. It is so good! Real tight musicians.
Rest in peace Archie. We love you so much ❤🖤❤️
