Nice to see another left handed shooter.got my pops old hoyt pro medalist.he shoot back in the early 60s 2nd in state.the stuff he made you see new versions of today.
I had a take down recurve for back country hunting in Colorado. You are going to love it once you learn to draw and release because, "IT AINT A COMPOUND WITH 80% LETOFF" learn to be the arrow, shoot more instinctive and smoothly. Compounds spoil you when you can hold a long time waiting on a bull to appear. With recurve you have to be more focused and work on your stealth killer moves. Thank you Eric, Hushin rockin this year
Dude hell yeah. Kudos for picking up a trad bow. I've been using the Satori now for a few months and I absolutely love it. I have 2 of them actually (one in each riser color). You made a good choice. All my archery buddies have their own bows and when I let them shoot my Satori they always tell me how amazing it feels and shoots.
Question in my Opinion the Limbs are more important than the Riser when thinking of Bow Performance when You got an older ILF Riser but really good Limbs You on the safe side what gives me a high Price Riser with cheep Limbs on it its like a Porsche with a VW 1.3 Golf Motor that's make no sense what Do You think about?
There was never a part 2?! What happened to the trad life journey? Let’s see a trad showdown between all the HUSH guys. This video was what convinced me to get a satori and try trad life out a few years ago
hay Brian great to see you getting into the traditional bows . just stay with it when things seem like there driving you nuts or you seem like you can't hit the board side of the barn .and you'll have a great time I have two Samick Sage's an love it . thought I have been doing it for two years now I look for any chance I get to shoot it . an i'm good up to 40 yards .
Bow Heaven..... Ah, The joy of shooting a bow.... I enjoy instinctive shooting a long bow, recurve bow and then a short dual cam compound bow in that order with no sights. Short bow requires mechanical release but I have set all three for a release. Each has a different set of arrows due to tuning. I do not own a crossbow,.
Limb weight for Satori Limbs are ranked with 21" riser.... you get shorter risers... Add 2lb for 17" riser and another 2 for the 15" riser. You can see that... on the Hoyt website.
прикольно. в детстве серьезно занимался стрельбой из лука. приятно смотреть как интрумент изменился за 25 лет))) у меня бы лук "ямаха" тяжелый но мощный)
Not quite like the long bow recurve I shot when I was younger but it looks pretty good it's all a lot more mechanical you know on everything you still you just got the bowl and pull it back and let it go God bless where it went but looks like you and Matt know what you're doing now so I hope you get your target buddy God bless you
You should really look into using a Turkish style thumb ring as a release instead of shooting fingers!!! The Backyard Bowyer even has a video that shows how to make one diy thats pretty BA!!!
He’s wrong. With the 17 inch riser you’re actually 4fps faster. It’s based off the 21 inch riser, so you’re shooting closer to 48 I’d say with your draw.
It's about time ...I was wondering when you were going to blow the dust off that thing ... Awesome I look forward to seeing you hunt with traditional equipment...Maybe you can help Matt with the trad movement in the younger generation .Trad Life is where it's at you are going to find yourself shooting that bow more than your compound trust me ...I suggest a Trad rabbit hunt you will make it a tradition every year ..Keep up the good work .Keep hammering...
For whatever reason the factory plastic grip on the Hoyt Satori seems to be causing me to get a nasty blister on my right thumb knuckle at the base of the joint. Any suggestions of what to do? Seems to be a flawed design which forces your hand into a high grip position and causes your knuckle to grind underneath the bottom of the plastic grip.
Looking to get a satori myself. Decided on the 19" riser. Wanting to go a little shorter than my Samick Sage, so with a 28.5 draw length, would the short limbs? Or would medium limbs be more beneficial
How would you compare the factory Hoyt satori limbs vs black max 2.0 limbs? Looking to get my first satori, and wasn't to get the limbs with the most performance
Awesome video!... looking to get my next recurve here in the near future I heard some good things got. How would you compare the Hoyt Satori against the bear takedown?
So this is one of the most viewed videos if not the most video on this channel in the video they say “we’ll go over that in part 2” it’s been 3 years now so where is part 2..... just saying
Cool! Just interested because I am thinking of purchasing my first barebow. All I've used is my compound. I'm trying to absorb as much info on it all so I can make a solid decision.
Here's the thing about a good bow... It should break you financially. "Hey, I just scored a nice Samick Discovery for $500!" "Yeah, well my wife divorced me over the cost of this bow!" "Damn!"
I wonder if these guys know... that limb weight are based on a 21" Riser. This guy has a 17" riser and the 45lb limbs should be +4 pounds. So this bow will actually be a 49lb @ 28". Surprise ! 49lb bow.
fps _iron was wondering what's not trad about it ...Not trying to be a smart ass just curious what's not traditional about it ...is it just the metal riser that makes it not trad or the technology of the limbs etc ????
Ok since it's not a stick and string it's not traditional ..What do you call it today ..Modern recurve? If you shoot a stick bow with carbon arrows is it still traditional ? How about screw in broadheads?
Out of curiosity, what kind of bows do the people of the comments shoot?
A bear grizzly and a 1974 Bear Kodiak Magnum
I shoot a satori 19 «
Lostlife656 hoyt klash, gave my parker sidekick to the little brother, and now I also have a hoyt defiant
Lostlife656 I hunt witj big Jim's custom long bow and recurves and I do shoot elite for some 3d every now and then
Hoyt Alphamax!
Did you ever get part two filmed on tuning this bow? We need that.
Matt seems like such a cool dude y'all should get him in more vids
Nice to see another left handed shooter.got my pops old hoyt pro medalist.he shoot back in the early 60s 2nd in state.the stuff he made you see new versions of today.
Very much appreciate your humility and honesty as you try new things.
I had a take down recurve for back country hunting in Colorado. That guy is very good Explaining what he is doing!! and why he is doing it!! 👏
shot compound bowhunter freestyle, then freestyle and then Pro years ago. I gave it up to go full-time into traditional because it's more fun
best part was "eric shoots a backwards bow..." :) thumbs up! to that.
Hoyt says brace height is supposed to be 7"-8" on the Satori . He said they recommend 8-9. And yours was 9.
Wild Arrow needs to open up shop here in Washington State!!🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I am really excited to see you hunt with this bow Eric. Getting any animal with trad gear is a trophy
good luck w/ the trad bow, i too gave up compound shooting, ive got long and recurves, lots of fun
There was never a part 2?! What happened to the trad life journey? Let’s see a trad showdown between all the HUSH guys. This video was what convinced me to get a satori and try trad life out a few years ago
Very informative video mate....well done, learnt quite a bit with a hoyt bow....hopefully thats my next bow....thanks from the uk 👍🏻
hay Brian great to see you getting into the traditional bows . just stay with it when things seem like there driving you nuts or you seem like you can't hit the board side of the barn .and you'll have a great time I have two Samick Sage's an love it . thought I have been doing it for two years now I look for any chance I get to shoot it . an i'm good up to 40 yards .
I think Fred Bear came out with a bow like that a long time ago...Very Cool! I think I might pick one of those up!
I have a freed bear
I really want one of these bows as a truck survival bow. Really cool info
left handed well done glade to see one accross the pond
That bow is F**n beautiful!!
Great to see some trad love here. There’s nothing like punching tags with a trad bow.
do not doubt the efficiency of traditional archery equipment.
What makes a Hoyt so amazing you may ask, the Brand name. GUYS, YOU DONT HAVE TO HAVE A $500 BOW TO BE GOOD AT ARCHERY!!!!!!!
Awesome.
Looking forward to the series.
You training and getting an elk with that would be fun to watch and a lifetime experience for ya.
My mind is blown with "twisting" the served nock point up or down. I'm never using a brass nock again!
Extremely informative and Matt is excellent
Good video, only thing I didn't hear mentioned was limb alignment from the 2 side screws..
No more robo hunter. It becomes even more addictive.
Limb weight for Satori Limbs are ranked with 21" riser.... you get shorter risers... Add 2lb for 17" riser and another 2 for the 15" riser. You can see that... on the Hoyt website.
Awesome video guys!! I love how the the limbs just snap into place
Awesome video. Very educational. Thanks!!
Listen to him, hit and pause at your anchor
Nice to see you going to good side of archery!
Hooray for learning new things! 👍🏻
прикольно. в детстве серьезно занимался стрельбой из лука. приятно смотреть как интрумент изменился за 25 лет))) у меня бы лук "ямаха" тяжелый но мощный)

Very informative video that should help me out a lot. Thanks!
That’s awesome man!! Makes me want to get my dads old bear off the shelf and shoot it!!
Jody Tucker Did you?
Great stuff. Learned a lot.
Did we ever see a Part II video? Or am I just not that observant?
when's that follow up Video coming! love yall channel!
Wish you lot of fun with trad archery. You'll love it, after "tuning" your release! Now the "machine" is you, not the bow 😏
Have you hunted with it yet? If not send it my way and I will take it out.
Never comment, but this was comment worthy. Great video! Lots of helpful insight as I am one considering a recurve in the near future. Thanks
Trad Life 🏹🏹🏹🏹🏹
I just started shooting Trad, it's a hole new adventure for me. I suck at it LOL...
I couldn't understand the terms but wish I could buy a recurve. Can u gimme the link to download it?
You should really look into using a Turkish style thumb ring as a release instead of shooting fingers!!! The Backyard Bowyer even has a video that shows how to make one diy thats pretty BA!!!
So a bit later how do you like the Satori and do you recommend it? I shoot compound and have been also eyeing trad bows and the Satori caught my eye.
He’s wrong. With the 17 inch riser you’re actually 4fps faster. It’s based off the 21 inch riser, so you’re shooting closer to 48 I’d say with your draw.
Learned a lot. That was cool

Where is the tuning video? Just picked up the same bow. First time trad shooter too.
Is part 2 available somewhere on youtube? Thanks
I read on some website like Lancaster and they recommended an 68 inch bow for 28 inch draw length. Why did he choose 60 inch bow?
Those charts are wrong. Not sure why they have them like that. I've shot recurve as short as 48inches with a 28inch draw length.
Does Matt prefer to shoot off the shelf vs having a rest?
Nice E pretty bad ass bow great video
For whatever reason the factory plastic grip on the Hoyt Satori seems to be causing me to get a nasty blister on my right thumb knuckle at the base of the joint. Any suggestions of what to do? Seems to be a flawed design which forces your hand into a high grip position and causes your knuckle to grind underneath the bottom of the plastic grip.
Relax the string hand to release, don't try to open it. Then you will get much higher consistency.
Great stuff! Thanks!
Practice getting a consistent anchor point it will help a lot
Awesome..
I want that Satori..🤣😂
Looking to get a satori myself. Decided on the 19" riser. Wanting to go a little shorter than my Samick Sage, so with a 28.5 draw length, would the short limbs? Or would medium limbs be more beneficial

Where is part 2!!??
Nice vid guys, very insightful..
I hope to see you get on some big game with that bow
Awesome video!... looking to get my next recurve here in the near future I heard some good things got. How would you compare the Hoyt Satori against the bear takedown?
Soooo. No tuning.follow up video that was promised? :(
What happened with the other guy, the part you joked about cutting out?
He missed the target and hit the wood just above the floor. Thats why it was so loud
When is part 2 coming out?
First! sweet bow Eric!!
I like zero tiller for 3 under.
Where is the second video? Can't find it
How powerful is your bow ?
What brand of bow did you shoot before hoyt?
Lostlife656 a prime
Great video! Good information
I want this guy to set up my bow.
your going to get two views off of me i am going on a night ruck march, so i will watch it the second time when i get back.
I shoot a 50 lbs samick sage and a 55lbs 1974 browning wasp
hey Eric I've never been this early
Six minutes into the vid and the bow still isn't assembled--oops Deer is gone now--and so am I !!
Is this the guy that owns final rise?
This video got me into trad.
We all know you bought that bow to keep yourself busy until you get the redworks.
Hey hushin
So this is one of the most viewed videos if not the most video on this channel in the video they say “we’ll go over that in part 2” it’s been 3 years now so where is part 2..... just saying
You never posted a video on how it was tuned?
Not yet, trying to coordinate a time with Matt to help us and shoot another video together.
Cool! Just interested because I am thinking of purchasing my first barebow. All I've used is my compound. I'm trying to absorb as much info on it all so I can make a solid decision.
@@gethushin getting one of these after the first of the year to add to my collection, anxious to see the tuning process on this!
@@gethushin Looks like it never happened. Too bad
Where is the tuning video?
Hey Eric how's that satori doing for yah?
Nice
wheres the second half of this vid?
Here's the thing about a good bow...
It should break you financially.
"Hey, I just scored a nice Samick Discovery for $500!"
"Yeah, well my wife divorced me over the cost of this bow!"
"Damn!"
You need help to put a takedown recurve together? Get Real! Have ever shot an arrow before?
I wonder if these guys know... that limb weight are based on a 21" Riser. This guy has a 17" riser and the 45lb limbs should be +4 pounds. So this bow will actually be a 49lb @ 28".
Surprise ! 49lb bow.
Not quite trad, but still fun, more modern
fps _iron was wondering what's not trad about it ...Not trying to be a smart ass just curious what's not traditional about it ...is it just the metal riser that makes it not trad or the technology of the limbs etc ????
Ryan Lewis yeah, when I say trad I mean a stick and string :P
Ok since it's not a stick and string it's not traditional ..What do you call it today ..Modern recurve? If you shoot a stick bow with carbon arrows is it still traditional ? How about screw in broadheads?
Update one recurve!
