Greetings my friends. I hope you enjoyed the update for freeholds. What did you enjoy the most? And what are your thoughts on areas for improvement. Please remember we are actively in development towards Alpha Two, and as always designs are subject to change/ iteration. We will inform those changes best after testing with our glorious players in A2. ❤️🙏💪
For player feedback like you mentioned in the video! When it comes to the freeholds I want to be as immersed as possible. Give the players as many tools to turn their freehold into whatever they want. E.g. a farm for primarily raising livestock and slaughter them for meat to sell to other freeholds, yadda yadda. Just give players the tools to use their freeholds so that they can interact with the world in an economical or even a social way (ex. taverns).
i would love to see the animals have a bit more life to them fx walking around, and when an animal and mob is killed i would love for the to wither away as ash in the wind so it matches with the name of the game
Noticed that you weren't in the party, but could harvest anything from the freehold and interact with chests and other things, will any player be able to do that or does one give permission for that or how exactly will this work?
Happy to know that you already know you'll have a freehold , and you are probably right. I know, I'll will not have one even if I want one , and I'm also probably right.
great stream, but may have lost me as a player. having such a limited supply of freehold plots makes this game uninteresting to me as a casual. no lifers once again will own everything. back to looking for a new game
I bought this in the Kickstarter. I am hoping to play before I die of old age. I was 56 when I bought it, am 62 now. Ok, I may not die, but I do feel senility coming on (my wife says so). I hope it has crafting along the lines of Vanguard, Saga of Heroes.
@@AshesofCreation Cringy overexaggeration. Make this game less cringe and goofy please. Cringy generic happy music, Outdated graphics, goofy mounts, Im sorry but which man that is straight would want to ride on a fucking rabbit as a mount in a game? Your game is failing because you have no one on your dev team that have any desire for masculinity.
@@MrEnterthehole can you specify "life"? When we're done we're done, it doesn't matter, some of us will be alone, some of us will pretend they've done it better and help overcrowd the world with multiple offspring, most of that offspring when older being pretty depressed at how overcrowded it is and desperately wanting to try and sink their head in nothing but tik tok/streams or perhaps a game like AoC...
would be great to see mini game stations you can set up in your freehold to pass time with other players or friends. poker table, horse shoe, corn hole, card games idk what ever you guys think would be fun. maybe add a betting system so you can bet coin in these games. looks great though keep up the great work!
Please keep the pigs immersive, adds to the atmosphere of the game in so many ways! Loving the game concept and art too, can't wait to play it! Alpha 2 is shaping up to be a banger!!
Just being able to have my own animals in an MMO sounds so awesome. the inventory is a bit tedious tho. also, anything that helps with immersion is awesome. the more the better, i want to get lost
@@backstabber3537 This type of inventory hasn't been in games for a very very long time. If not counting Diablo series, the last MMO with similar inventory system I knew was Mabinogi. As tedious as it is, inventory management becomes a skill in game. I can't tell you how many times I spent hours to tidy up my friend's inventory just to see it become all mess the next day.🤣
@@AshesofCreation Wait wait wait wait.... Its an MMO keep it tedious but make it worthwhile ..... Ooooh ooh aybe certain products are on sale and in demand different seasons for trade!
Wait, how is Ashes going to deal with the same problem Archeage had with terrain plots not being enough for everyone? Having a plot of land was pretty much essential to allow players to experience many gameplay loops, and it sucked not being able to buy one because there just wasnt enough space. In Archeage , people from guilds would even block plots for their guild mates to buy from them later.
There are a few systems that I'm not too big a fan of but I feel like I need to experience them to know for sure. Also, that pig dying was perfect lmao.
@@AshesofCreation Will there be any systems to prevent freeholds being placed too close together? I remember in Star Wars Galaxies winding up with urban sprawl blocking the way through areas.
Nice progress, but please listen to community feedback on the bags. No one finds inventory management fun. Be careful trying to re-invent the wheel, sometimes simpler is better (inventory).
I believe that they've showed a few times in the past that they only listen to the community on specific topics. I think that the bags will remain bad at least until Alpha 2, maybe if enough people complain about it then they'll listen.
@@AshesofCreation Have to agree wth others, the bags inside of bags inventory management system is a headache and I'm glad modern games have moved away from such systems. They did so with good reason. People want simple inventories that are easy to navigate, where the amount of space/weight you have left is clear. One large inventory with simple tabs that will allow us to highlight weapons, materials, quest items etc is really all we need.
Love the design of the Freeholds! I think it's really cool how cohesive the visuals are inside of the house, *massive* props to your design team! One thing that I would maybe like to see is maybe a separate weapon storage location on the character's back. It's really more of a roleplaying thing, I just thought that it kinda looks weird for the character to always be holding their weapon regardless of the situation. Having a system that automatically puts away weapons after a certain amount of time away from combat would be cool, but even being able to hotkey your weapons to a storage slot (on your back/on a belt, etc) would be really useful in my opinion
Oh great idea, and easy solution, select a simple gore option, turn it off or on, off is just a standard casting bar or whatever, on plays the whole animation, I like that. Because the pig scene is a little graphic for animal lovers, even though it’s just a game.
Great update AoC team! Loved: * Graphic quality and world immersion. The wind, trees moving in the wind, birds and farm sounds * The idea of farming crops and livestock * The open space style of freeholds * The immersive style of ... meat and hide extraction * The idea of adding buildings that give you access to stations * The idea that you can build your freehold ANYWHERE * UI & bag systems are functional Questions/comments: * I guess I love the idea of going by my animals and crops and "working" a bit on the farm. The gamification of harvesting is amazing and sometimes it would be a super relaxing experience. Is there a mechanic in which I could auto-harvest crops and animal products in case I want to do mass production? Thinking of something with reduced benefits as I am not using my harvesting skills. * Why not put the artisan stations inside the buildings? Thinking that since the buildings occupy the space anyways, maybe their stations could be inside the building to save space. * Have you thought/calculated if the open world space would be enough for all players freeholds? * How would I fast travel to my freehold? Is there a mechanic for that? * Would caravan system work between cities and freeholds and between freehold and other freeholds? * Please do not allow for too much customisation on the OUTSIDE of the buildings in order to not break immersion. * I saw you were drag & dropping items in your bags. I guess/hope you can auto transfer auto-sort * I loved the shadows but they seemed ... icky at times. Is there a reason for this? I guess it.s work in progress of course! * It feels like some work needs to be done in the interaction system. Either Steven sucks at interacting - sorry Steven - or the interaction "boxes" need to grow?
Feedback on two things showcased here: 1. Inventory management is not fun, and only becomes a tedious extra thing to worry about. In a game full of intricate mechanics, inventory management should not be one of them. 2. Gathering speed seems a bit slow when placed in front of a farm full of corn or wheat or whatever to harvest. Slow gathering speed may work in the open world, but if it takes that long to harvest my own crops in a farm full of gatherables, I can see that becoming rather time consuming especially depending on how often crops grow back.
Agree on inventory management. However, Steven explained after on stream that gathering is slow in this showcase because fast gathering is a progression mechanic. Which is perfect to me, as you get better at gathering, you get better equipment for faster gathering!
Well is for people that like gathering, inventory management is important in pvx mmorpg, since if you need to move alot of resources that is where caravans system will enter, so makes sense you be very limited on foot
We appreciate your feedback! Please make sure to share it with our team on the forums as well! forums.ashesofcreation.com/discussion/55773/feedback-request-alpha-two-freehold-preview-shown-in-june-livestream
14:35 I would love if after NoAliving the Pig you would have an animation of butchering/Skinning it. Or you could have the pig show in your inventory then you take it to a “Butchering Table” where you process the pig.
He might be a bit oblivious. He seems like the hands off type. More like he plays what they make then gives feedback instead of dictating every little thing.
Steven, I always admired your leadership and the way that you guide your teammates to explaining things about the game. You never take the full center of the spotlight and act as a host for your team. Its also great to see some new footage of other game play features like the freehold. This looked amazing!
I don’t mind the item’s being different sizes, but it also takes a lot of brain power as a potentially OCD Min/Max’er I don’t know if this relates to others but in games like Skyrim, I would collect carrots along the trail in order to sell for 1 gold coin because I can carry it.
Blown away, again. As a long time Everquest, Archeage, and Eve Online player (ex player for all three now) I can't wait to delve back into MMOs again for this project. Absolute Dream
I would like to add more: 1- ageing system for animals ( this will control the market ) 2- different animals breeds 3- PLEASE add more different colours for animals 4- diseases and cure for animals and crops 5- different quality and quantity for animals products for each breed 6- make the animals feels alive!! 7- breeding system should have chance to get babies, and might lose the mother while gestation! Just give chance for everything. 8- weather system should affect the animals and the crops. 9- Gene system, some crops will yield more, as well as animals, BUT this should not be passed to the babies. There are more to add, but hope AOC will notice me ! 🌹
I wonder, how hard would it be to randomly generate different features for a mount when a player acquires one? It could be super simple like some different colors, hair lengths? That way it feels like everyone is unique just like IRL. I just noticed the bunny mounts are identical, it just is something that could be unique IMO!
Idk about the Tetris bag limit theme. Dayz has the same thing but it's a survival game where youre limited in very few resources. Not sure if it will fit an mmo especially on this scale. If you ask me it will just be a bad QOL theme for the game 😊
IDEA ALERT: so here's an idea on advertising, free for you, when the game is about to release. So it goes like this. You show this player living in his freehold peacefully, with his friends. But then some people come and destroy his house(during castles siege) when he was not around. So he gears up and goes out to repuild his city and kick the ass of those who stole from him. The outro, a old guy deep voice says, come live a life, friendships, action, adventure and glory. Of course you show him gearing up, rebuilding his city and kicking ass in epic music.
Would love to see the option of actually breaking down the carcasses, maybe the higher skill you have in butchery the farther you go with it. At the very least, please don’t make whatever you are skinning just look like it laid down to take a nap after you skin and harvest it.
Absolutely love everything I have seen so far from the team. But one thing I do not like, is the Tetris-inventory. That sounds like hell to organize. But absolutely beautiful game and can't wait to play!
Could be cool to have like a massive dwarven smelter freehold, filled to the brim with smelting cauldrons. Was thinking of making a tavern on my freehold then just fill the property with brewing casks filled with beer and whiskey.
Man, this freaking game....I can't wait! Edit: do not change the animal slaughter. If people don't like it, make a setting for the screen to go black or something lol.
Game looks gorgeous, i like casual things like farming also... already can imagine myself relaxing and making my own farm! Without all the time doing dungeons and pvp, gvg stuffs... More interesting things to do - better!
I am perfectly happy seeing blood and core and death in a game. Most MMOs are tame about it. Since crafting was mentioned, will 'salvaging' be a thing? How would it work if so?
This looks cool, the only issue i have with this game is that loss is everywhere. Freeholds can be attacked and loss which really hurts your progress. Especially with them saying freeholds wont be so easily accessible. The games not for everyone but thats kind of a kick in the nuts in any regard
So freeholds can't actually be attacked unless you lose a siege. But if you do end up losing the siege that's the price you pay for losing. you'll still have time to grab your stuff and dip with a caravan but if you don't that's on you and the defenders. Risk vs Reward is everywhere.
@@ImmortalityV Agreed its a risk and reward system everywhere but it's still a kick in the nuts. I'd rather just do heavy taxes then have to lose my progress as a game is for fun not a job to be done continuously. Everything else is fine, this system however is...well to be blunt, its not.
I have a ton of questions: 1. Will there be enough space for every player on the server to have a Freehold? 2. Can I challenge players for their location? 3. What maintenance costs are anticipated? 4. With so much production, what will prevent market saturation? 5. Which node policies will affect my Freehold? 6. Are Freeholds for individual players or for guilds? 7. Will seasons and climate affect possible crop/animal production?
I like the free hold idea a lot, but I'm afraid it's going to look like the ones in Archeage where it's all cramped purely to get the most out of the grid and those look so out of place
This looks amazing. Especially seeing the mounts standing is so immersive. I have a few questions for these systems: - Can other players take/steal/destroy your stuff? Are there certain antigrieve mechanics or will people who wont be able to play the game 24/7 be unable to have one basically? - How many people are able to get one of those freeholds? Will the whole map be full of those with the exceptions of the poi etc.? - Will there be an artist profession in the future where you can paint pictures of people and vistas? I would love to search for interesting places in the world that i could paint and sell the pictures to other players
If taking away your plot will be possible without mutual consent, then this game will die in no time. I have seen many MMOs vanish in the over 30 years of playing. A peaceful crafter/trader/farmer (roleplaying) will leave the game if all the work he/she put into decorating and making a home could be destroyed (and there's always PKs and bullying guilds in those games). And after those players are gone the bullies will get bored and leave as well. Good idea with the artist profession - maybe taking a nice screenshot and being able to somehow convert it into a pseudo-oil-painting to sell or put on your own walls. Oh the possibilities if you think about it!
Farming and animal husbandry has always been my jam in MMO’s and survival games. I’ll happily invest everything into this activity as often as possible so the more in depth you can make this the better. I wish I could afford to drop $250 on a voyager package but I just can’t. The wait for Beta 2 is loooong!!!
Very well done to the team on this one. The world really looks and feels dynamic, from the sounds of birds, wind etc. to the wind blowing on trees. The way the resource rock broke looks very realistic. Very excited for this!
I still don't like the fact that not every player will be able to have a freehold, even if they want one and play enough to be able to obtain one. Just doesn't sit right with me.
@@FearHype Yeah I already know I’m gonna be able to get one. Those casual players are not the ones I’m talking about. I’m more thinking about the people that start years after launch and no matter how much they love the game there’s an entire system they can never engage with because the slots are taken and they didn’t start early enough.
UI and Spell Icons Gifs are looking great. I like the detail on the trees and rocks. Trees have twisting trunks etc. Not looking cookie-cutter. The blue rocks look interesting, but the color blue is kind of over the top considering the landscape color however it is Fall so in winter they might look just right. Freeholds are looking great. The lot size is perfect. I am also thrilled that you have to build variants and verity. I would love to come up on a Rapunzel wizard tower where you refine potions and enchanting ingredients. I absolutely love the tree housing that is integrated within the tree. Talk about high fantasy. Those are going to be epic. The farming, crafting, gathering, and refining interactions and dependencies are spot on. I like the fuel and upgrade tree paths for buildings crafting tables etc. I would love to see trees for farming. Putting fuel into the soil to create rare magical herbs and regents for potions would be great. Have the crops be seasonal so you can grow winter ones etc. The bag system is a great idea. Talk about making gathering and crafting buildouts impactful and important. It is so cool to have actual crafting and gathering buildouts for what you are planning to gather and craft as meaningful as Raid gear buildouts. Having homestead-building paths is epic. I love the fact that homesteads can be wiped out by what happens to the node. That way it is not a one-time land rush at the beginning of the game, and no one ever gets the ability later on in the game to ever expect to own one. I really like the details of the gathering. The corn drops Kernals, and tomatoes falling on the ground were great. I feel the skinning of animals like New World was great but the pig petting before you slit its neck was a bit over the top. I could see some crazy animal activists boycotting the game and up in arms about petting it before you kill it. All in all, a great job so far. Great work guys.
I'm guessing the freeholds are pretty limited in the open world and not everyone will be able have one. If someone coming into the game a few months/years after the launch, will there be any chance for them to setup a freehold of their own or will they have to settle with an apartment?
Creation and destruction, life and death are part of our all life. When there is no more space there could be an war, Natural disaster or dragon attack. If the people cant defend themselves there will be an opportunity for other players.
I feel like the Tetris style resources storage can have a lot of interesting implications. We will have to see how you guys develop the system first off, of course. My intuition is that its a high risk, high reward development path. Most likely it will be frustrating for players, who just want to farm resources and not think about bag space. But if it changes how you farm in a non-annoying manner this could be cool. I think as long as you can re-orient longer resources (similar to Tetris) to fit around in your bags, the system might work nicely and be a fun puzzle to solve. So looking at the inventory at 9:43 , if I got another 1x2 resource, I could reorient it to be 2x1 and slot it in the top right, horizontally. Maybe rare and powerful materials could be sloped and non-pleasant shapes and cause you to farm/value certain items that can fit those 1x1 slots and such. I think this might be an interesting implication because in New World, the weight restrictions meant that you would often offload lower valuable resources if you capped out on a gathering run; but a Tetris style system might favor those resources during a gathering run to make efficient use of your bags.
Well it's obvious that everyone on a server won't be able to have one. Looking at what we know about any game, mmo or not, 50% of the playerbase will leave in that first month WITHOUT hitting max level or completion. There's a lot of breaking down here that I really don't want to do but basically expect 15% to actually stay active and around.
@@handsinthefire what makes you think its going to have such a low pop, other than the fact crowfall was a dismal failer, but that had more to do with its niche playstyle and not having a budget for promotion than anything else
I am so grateful that finally, we are seeing real-world housing. I was afraid the everything-instanced movement was the future of MMO´s but I never feel connected to an instanced house and this is definitely something I will love. Thank you!
You guys could add a Galloping button for mounts, slowing down or increasing the speed/posture that the mount walk/gallop, or even adding adding a brand new way of interaction with you companion. That way you can interact iin differents ways depending where you are or how you want to your mount to act at certain time. Horses could have the overall walk/3timed galop, bunnys and frogs like mount could have a charge jump that can acess higher parts of the environment, the snail mount could use its slime to climb walls, horned mounts could do a charge that could break ore or knock down certains targets, feline mounts could walk/run in zig zag evading projectiles or difficulting things to target you, theres a million ways of giving more personality for mounts in games. The mounts in Ashes of creations are looking awesome and i would love to see you guys adding more fantastic creatures and news ways of interact with then. I cant wait to play and full experience this game, it reallys keeps our love for mmorpgs burning and not sucumbing froms the ashes of the past. Cheers from Brazil, sorry for any misspelling and keep doing that awesome work, Ashes its already a piece of art.
The bag system is really cool! I'd imagine they'd have ti have a durability on it to make sense? This is a great incentive to learn crafting or whatever skill these are related too
i think it would provide great immersion if a "healer" class could harvest the meat and hide while healing the animal, keeping them alive, possible putting them to sleep first, but still receiving the resources, even at a lower amount
are the animals gonna move? its a nice feature but its a bit immersion breaking when you walk on a chiken and it stands there lol.chikens moves around a lot.some animations and minimal ai would be nice and not to hard to implement i think. What do you think?
This game is absolutely beautiful. I've been following for at least a year now, and I can't wait for the release. Already saving up to buy a brand new PC for when this game drops. Will be worth every penny!
This game is in Alpha and it already looks similar to some games that have been fully released. This makes me sad that a lot of games are unfinished, but that just shows the dedication this team really has to making Ashes great. Can't wait for the A2 playtest!
Almost everything looks good, but hopefully we can also talk about what it doesn't look good: inventory management. Different items having different sizes and playing tetris to manage your inventory is not good. This won't make me not play the game, but why not make it better? Please make sure to code this system in a way generic enough where refactoring how it works isn't terrible so we can test different approaches during Alpha 2. Thanks!
I have an idea, you can have a griffon mailing system, so if your inventory is full you can call for a griffon which comes gather your inventory and flies it back to your bank for a fee?
This is looking more and more like a game that will require far more time and effort to put into than I'm willing or able to give. Looks amazing though.
I dont think you really need to even have a freehold to play properly tho? It seems more like an option to invest that much time and effort does it not? 😅
@@PaperJedi You're right, silly of me to think they were making a game that only a small handful of elite players (read: people with a lot of free time) will be able to fully enjoy. Hmm, sarcasm aside, the writing has been on the wall the entire time.
@@escarretada I'm not too keen on playing a simulator where I'm poor and it's impossible to compete with those who have greater means (of time). Sounds kinda like real life. And I've been following this game for years and very well aware of the "hard core, play to win" mentality. I'm all for play-to-win, but it's increasingly looking like there's no middle ground: you either significantly invest time into the game, or you just don't bother at all, with anyone in the middle getting a mediocre experience. Not saying that's going to happen, but it's certainly a concern of mine. Would be a shame if the only people who could own and maintain a freehold are those who play Ashes as a part time job.
Can't wait to play, looks amazing!. I'll tease you a little though.. My favorite part was when he went to bed at the end and his legs were sticking through the wood at the baseboard. ;) Haha
I like the tetris style bag-management you have got going. I find it more immersive to have to think about the space of a bag rather than how much weight you can carry. Makes demand for crafting good bags important as well which adds to the crafting economy aspect as well. Would be cool to see profession specific bags with greater capacity to carry stuff like ore which looks like it takes up a lot of space. Also are you considering adding saddlebags or anything of the sort to help you haul gatherables? :)
@@AshesofCreation Very cool! Also just an idea, maybe you could enchant bags to increase room :D like a magic profession and a material profession combo item that requires players to work across professions to make a superior item! Thank you for answering
Love the freeholds. looking amazing, i cant wait for Alpha2 :D since youre aiming a lot for immersion wouldnt it be a good idea for the ressource gathering to have animation stages? like the crystals crumbling a bit or cracks appearing with each hit. And if you really want to appeal to everybody having an option for graphic or "kid friendly" slaughter in the settings would be amazing. if that is something thats easily implemented.
SO excited to play now. This is by far my favorite reason to play mmos; the lifestyle part of the game. Little feedback that i'll also bring to the forums, but I'm not the biggest fan of the inventory management system. This is very similar to the game Mabinogi how items are different shapes (maybe Diablo is similar as well) but the slots are just quite annoying and maybe just a bit archaic. I personally found weight to be a better system. Say what you will about New World but there's something about the bag weight progression and chest storage progression.
I like that before slitting the Pig's throat you are petting it.. sounds a bit macabre, but the throat slit is humane and a part of the life and death of a farm animal.. He or she enjoyed the ground, sun and fresh air prior. ( I'd like to see a different animation for the sheering of the sheep though.. )
This preview was absolutely beautiful. I am Assuming free holds would be on open land (instanced like in FF14 and/or non-instanced like archage) that would cause players to compete and win at an auction? The only issue I have with that is the limited availability. Having people able to compete to purchase land and build houses anywhere in the open world (or in an instanced area) , would help with immersion, but I fear it might be impossible to purchase a house as a sole player, due to limited availability. Therefore, making it so only large ‘guilds’ are able to purchase a free hold. Even if this area is instanced (like in FF14) it would still be difficult to purchase land due to the limited supply. 14:40, cool sound effect but I would change the animation (animal dispatchment/butchering) to be more of a slice, as opposed to the current ‘stick it with something pointy’. A complete slicing motion would dispatch the animal quickly, whereas the current animation would cause a slow death.
Definitely brings back the feel of what I loved about ArcheAge setting/housing/husbandry, but even better. I continue to be excited for Ashes of Creation.
I imagine there will be more demand for than supply of freehold land. In EQ2 housing 1000 people could own the same home. You selected which owner you wanted from a menu on the door of the house. Will freeholds be similar? Where maybe the menu to select the owner is on a gate instead of a door? Or will a given plot of land be restricted to one owner per server? If so, seems like there will be a huge land rush at the beginning of the game, perhaps won exclusively by people awarded early access to the game.
It is looking amazing, just a thought, this style of freehold is great, for a warrior type character for example, what if you could have different types, lets say a mage tower type that focuses on alchemy and rare plants farming instead, or a swamp type that let you grow fish and mushrooms for example instead of cows, with huts over the water and docks, there could be different styles based on the biome, lets say the desert zone having an oasis type freehold where you harvest palm dates, or can grow some plants on the oasis itself, just an idea.
Love the progress on the game, in particular the rabbit mount. I also love the farm management almost stardew-valley style system. Having significant real-time respawn rates on farm resources is very fun and immersive. One concern I have though: inventory management decisions are not (in my opinion) fun or interesting. I have a feeling inventory tetris will very quickly become tedious.
All cattle, male or female, naturally grow to have horns. The reason why people think female adult cows don't have horns is that they were removed when they were young. This practice is called dehorning, a process using dehorning tools to remove the horns from the cow's head.
The game is looking beautiful so far! I am really enjoying the sound effects and the animations, looks very lively. Speaking of animations it would be great to see the chickens move around in their pen or when it's night time some animals have different night cycle such as sleeping in their coup.
I like the inventory if its not neccesary to loot everything you find. You have to choose what you loot which is very nice, but craftig has to be based around not needing to much materials as well.
Just give players the tools to use their freeholds so that they can interact with the world in an economical or even a social way (ex. taverns).
Lot's to talk about 😁
i would love to see the animals have a bit more life to them fx walking around, and when an animal and mob is killed i would love for the to wither away as ash in the wind so it matches with the name of the game
Noticed that you weren't in the party, but could harvest anything from the freehold and interact with chests and other things, will any player be able to do that or does one give permission for that or how exactly will this work?

would be great to see mini game stations you can set up in your freehold to pass time with other players or friends. poker table, horse shoe, corn hole, card games idk what ever you guys think would be fun. maybe add a betting system so you can bet coin in these games. looks great though keep up the great work!
They confirmed these will be in taverns, can’t wait to see them :)
There will be parlor games that players can use when in taverns. 🍻🎲
@AshesofCreation I hope we get a MTG type game.
This is a great idea....can you imagine setting up a mini golf course to play with friends. endless opportunity within the world of Verra. 😮
Please keep the pigs immersive, adds to the atmosphere of the game in so many ways! Loving the game concept and art too, can't wait to play it! Alpha 2 is shaping up to be a banger!!
Just being able to have my own animals in an MMO sounds so awesome. the inventory is a bit tedious tho. also, anything that helps with immersion is awesome. the more the better, i want to get lost
tedious like real life :(
We appreciate your feedback!
Actually this inventory sys is more realistic, so technically it helps immersion.
The livestock slaughtering mechanic really reminded me of Red Dead Redemption 2. Very immersive! Great job! Can't wait to play this game for myself!
There are a few systems that I'm not too big a fan of but I feel like I need to experience them to know for sure. Also, that pig dying was perfect lmao.
🐖🥓 🤤
@@AshesofCreation Will there be any systems to prevent freeholds being placed too close together? I remember in Star Wars Galaxies winding up with urban sprawl blocking the way through areas.
@@randlebrowne2048 Well they said roads wont be blocked but you know I dont mind Urban sprawl as long as it looks good.
Nice progress, but please listen to community feedback on the bags. No one finds inventory management fun. Be careful trying to re-invent the wheel, sometimes simpler is better (inventory).
We appreciate the input and are looking forward to reading what you all have to say!
I believe that they've showed a few times in the past that they only listen to the community on specific topics. I think that the bags will remain bad at least until Alpha 2, maybe if enough people complain about it then they'll listen.
Tetris is simple and war tales does it perfectly
@@AshesofCreation Have to agree wth others, the bags inside of bags inventory management system is a headache and I'm glad modern games have moved away from such systems. They did so with good reason. People want simple inventories that are easy to navigate, where the amount of space/weight you have left is clear. One large inventory with simple tabs that will allow us to highlight weapons, materials, quest items etc is really all we need.
@AshesofCreation awesome! Wishing you guys success with the development process.!
The attention to detail in this game is a work of art I cant wait!
Regarding the animal death maybe you can tie in with gore function in the options?
but I think it should stay immersive in my opinion.
Oh great idea, and easy solution, select a simple gore option, turn it off or on, off is just a standard casting bar or whatever, on plays the whole animation, I like that. Because the pig scene is a little graphic for animal lovers, even though it’s just a game.
Great update AoC team!
Loved:
* Graphic quality and world immersion. The wind, trees moving in the wind, birds and farm sounds
* The idea of farming crops and livestock
* The open space style of freeholds
* The immersive style of ... meat and hide extraction
* The idea of adding buildings that give you access to stations
* The idea that you can build your freehold ANYWHERE
* UI & bag systems are functional
Questions/comments:
* I guess I love the idea of going by my animals and crops and "working" a bit on the farm.
I guess/hope you can auto transfer auto-sort
* I loved the shadows but they seemed ... icky at times. Is there a reason for this? I guess it.s work in progress of course!
* It feels like some work needs to be done in the interaction system. Either Steven sucks at interacting - sorry Steven - or the interaction "boxes" need to grow?
Something I wanted to touch base on, is the way the characters suddenly stop when coming to a stop. Feels a little janky sadly 😅
Feedback on two things showcased here:
Well is for people that like gathering, inventory management is important in pvx mmorpg, since if you need to move alot of resources that is where caravans system will enter, so makes sense you be very limited on foot
there must be an inventory management , cause otherwise we will transform into greedy loot goblins

steven acting oblivious to the things his developers have made is the best part
He might be a bit oblivious. He seems like the hands off type. More like he plays what they make then gives feedback instead of dictating every little thing.
He not a programmer he a management type CEO he delegates things and then gets shown them later.
Looks fantastic for your "I don't feel like raiding today" moments :) Amazing immersion guys!
There is so much more to do in MMOs than just raiding! 🏠
Steven, I always admired your leadership and the way that you guide your teammates to explaining things about the game. You never take the full center of the spotlight and act as a host for your team.
Its also great to see some new footage of other game play features like the freehold. This looked amazing!
I don’t mind the item’s being different sizes, but it also takes a lot of brain power as a potentially OCD Min/Max’er
I don’t know if this relates to others but in games like Skyrim, I would collect carrots along the trail in order to sell for 1 gold coin because I can carry it.
The strategic part where to start your own place reminds me on those cool old games of RTS :)
So beautiful, really well done so far. A labor of love and it shows. Looking forward to its release.
Blown away, again. As a long time Everquest, Archeage, and Eve Online player (ex player for all three now) I can't wait to delve back into MMOs again for this project. Absolute Dream
Best update of the year so far! Keep it up!
I would like to add more:
1- ageing system for animals ( this will control the market )
2- different animals breeds
3- PLEASE add more different colours for animals
4- diseases and cure for animals and crops
5- different quality and quantity for animals products for each breed
6- make the animals feels alive!!
So the bunny mount is a paid cosmetic, that is why they look the same. Other mounts do indeed have variants like you described!
Love it. The slow animation on the hare mount is very odd though
Idk about the Tetris bag limit theme. Dayz has the same thing but it's a survival game where youre limited in very few resources. Not sure if it will fit an mmo especially on this scale. If you ask me it will just be a bad QOL theme for the game 😊
I personally feel you should go for immersion over convenience. As realistic as possible in this fantasy setting
I like the immersion. Don't soften the blow of reality especially on a game that looks this nice.
There is a real artisan work in the lights that is a masterwork, the devs are doing a really good job.
I am perfectly happy seeing blood and core and death in a game. Most MMOs are tame about it. Since crafting was mentioned, will 'salvaging' be a thing? How would it work if so?
I have to think about grieving someone's animals. I mean it is a criminal action but I doubt someone will get an red flag from it.
I have a ton of questions:
This stream was SOO EXCITING! Love what is being done with the game.
Man the pig scene was so funny, i think it s perfect like it s right now, everything is perfect, missing the famous spit emote
That was F AMAZING guys! and this ambient sounds Cows and Chickens even before you enter Freehold. Wow
I like the free hold idea a lot, but I'm afraid it's going to look like the ones in Archeage where it's all cramped purely to get the most out of the grid and those look so out of place
Harvesting all of them at once would be a great addition. i think everyone would enjoy to save some time :)
This looks so incredible. Please continue to show us every little bit of progress.. we’re all itching to play.
the large organized guild level conflict is what Steven likes. That is this game.
Every month you're getting us impressive content, the rythm you have is crazy guys!
This looks amazing. Especially seeing the mounts standing is so immersive. I have a few questions for these systems:
- Can other players take/steal/destroy your stuff?
Remember the scene in Game of Thrones where Tywin butchers the stag. I want butchering in Ashes to be as close to that as possible.
I can't wait to play your game. You're doing a great job.
If you play long enough and earn one, you will have one. Most people won’t put in that effort and the other 3 housing types will be for those people!
This will be crazy hard for right brained folks like me...but definitely interesting lol
it sounds like there will be a very limited amount of space for these freeholds. how will you account for the high population your sure to get?
Well it's obvious that everyone on a server won't be able to have one. Looking at what we know about any game, mmo or not, 50% of the playerbase will leave in that first month WITHOUT hitting max level or completion. There's a lot of breaking down here that I really don't want to do but basically expect 15% to actually stay active and around.
@@handsinthefire what makes you think its going to have such a low pop, other than the fact crowfall was a dismal failer, but that had more to do with its niche playstyle and not having a budget for promotion than anything else

The mounts in Ashes of creations are looking awesome and i would love to see you guys adding more fantastic creatures and news ways of interact with then. i think it would provide great immersion if a "healer" class could harvest the meat and hide while healing the animal, keeping them alive, possible putting them to sleep first, but still receiving the resources, even at a lower amount

Thanks!
Loved the stream today! Thank you for all the latest on the Freeholds.
The game was always that. Where you been.
this is features that you don´t need to use, you can simply rent an apartment or house in the city
There will be different types of backpacks that cater to different activities!
@@AshesofCreation Very cool! Also just an idea, maybe you could enchant bags to increase room :D like a magic profession and a material profession combo item that requires players to work across professions to make a superior item!
Thank you for answering
Love the freeholds. looking amazing, i cant wait for Alpha2 :D
since youre aiming a lot for immersion wouldnt it be a good idea for the ressource gathering to have animation stages? like the crystals crumbling a bit or cracks appearing with each hit.
I agree, new world bags and weight worked well.
Storage having weight is beyond stupid, although weight on characters makes sense.
I like that before slitting the Pig's throat you are petting it.. sounds a bit macabre, but the throat slit is humane and a part of the life and death of a farm animal.. He or she enjoyed the ground, sun and fresh air prior. ( I'd like to see a different animation for the sheering of the sheep though.. )
My god, the autumn trees are looking gorgeous.
Also, immersion all the way. Makes the game waaaay better.
Are freeholds “safe spaces” or are they subject to attack and thievery? Knowing that would make a big difference in how I set up my freehold.
Can't wait for this game to release, ill be a lifeskiller and a healer/tank main,i will make stonks
Looking amazing guys. Keep up the great work 👍
Definitely brings back the feel of what I loved about ArcheAge setting/housing/husbandry, but even better. I continue to be excited for Ashes of Creation.
I honestly CANNOT wait anymore!
I'm fine with immersion! Can't wait to try!
I’d love to see some more darker fantasy note in the game or zones that look like it’s corrupted/evil as well
Female cows don't have horns, soooo... THAT ISN"T MILK!
Coming soon 2028
The animation for getting the bacon it`s just PERFECT i can`t belive how nice it was done.
i love to see that items have different sizes in the inventory like in d2 ;D hate those "all items one slot" systems :D
I like the inventory if its not neccesary to loot everything you find. You have to choose what you loot which is very nice, but craftig has to be based around not needing to much materials as well.
