Just got done watching the whole video, And im beyond impressed with what yall shown here with the nodes system. I believe this system will truely revolutionize the MMO genre. Something truely unique i havent seen in any other game before.

I love where the art of the nodes is heading, the difference between alpha 1 node aesthetics and this one is massive it kinda gave me witcher 3 vibes
reminded me of Hogsmead in Hogwarts legacy
When they first entered the node it reminded me so much of Whiterun from Skyrim

Yes god I can’t wait. This game is going to be a literal game changer for the MMO universe and be such a great relief with just the beauty of the world alone

It has been added for a few updates, however is very exaggerated.
I hope the environment artists check real grass one day to realize it doesn't move like there is a tornado every day.
@@AshesofCreation The wind does look nice but a bit extreme sometimes not sure if there is always a storm. (also at 16:00 in the top left of the screen) for example you have the spike wall & spike defence. The wind still blows the grass even tho it should be blocked by the structures ?
But yeah overall looks good but i feel it could be tuned down a bit with how extreme it looks.
But keep it up good work

Please for the love of all things bearded and dwarven, have a place for a mountain fortress node that isn't outdoors. Even if its all on same Z axis, like ironforge in wow, I'd be happy. To make a community of dwarves sleep and work under open sky would be nothing short of a tragedy. I know its a lot of extra work, but the existence of a fortress of dwarves mining and crafting in hallowed mountain halls adds so much flavor to the world.

There are the underground Tulnar nodes. Perhaps there could be a Dwarven Culture option for them. Difficult, but possible.

From what I read in the forums, this will not happen unfortunately. However, the mountain nodes apparently are going to be very close to the big mountains, so there is that.

Lots to love in this update... The biggest one to me was how MASSIVE the world size and the Node really felt in this video... This is a VILLAGE (Stage 3 Node). Can you imagine how MASSIVE and elaborate a METROPOLIS (Stage 6 Node) is going to be??!

I’ve been following the development for 4 years and I gotta say, this is my favourite dev update yet. I was totally not expecting the nodes to look anywhere as beautiful as this. The little grassy field to the right when you enter the village, the little walkways between buildings, the way the buildings sat on hills with the windmill on top. It all just looked so cozy, and I love that. Blown away
This was amazing and only a stage 3 node… The metropolis stage will blow our minds for sure 👏

Can't wait for Alpha Two, progress is looking good! I love that both from a mechanics and technical perspective so much thought is being put into increasing immersion into the world.

I noticed the NPC with the sheild on his back, it was set back at a angle. This is amazing because it will stop cloaks clipping through sheilds on players. Good work, I hate clipping so much
Such a great livestream! Nodes will be such a fun aspect of the game. Keep up the good work!
Your freeholds should have billboards where you can put up quests other plays can do. Like little tasks around your freehold. So when people walk by a freehold they can check and see if they can get some quick exp killing pigs and chopping corn. This will also allow players have to more efficient freehold when they are on the other side of the map.

Awesome stuff. I love the building tree upgrades. Please tell me the Tavern has an Entertainment tree complete with various gambling games, dancing buffs, and ales! Node Vegas here we come!

One note: make sure the chimney is always higher than the roof. Otherwise the turbulent air may force the smoke back to the house, which is dangerous :)

I think I'm going to be doing a lot of sitting around, watching my cape blowing in the wind and listening to the game music. Everything seems so relaxing and immersive :)

Amazing to see all this beauty in development! They should launch a minimap Village node for people to walk around and sniff some of the environment, and get some feelings about the game since the development does take a while :) And I hope for good role-play servers at launch :)
They should add a feature, where if you are the node mayor the guards will salute and stand at attention when you walk by. You could set a distance max to let them reset and an internal cd so it won’t be abused to keep guards in a specific area as they patrol.
Amazing update. This looks so great and cozy. I want to play this so badly. The building animation is beautiful. It reminds me a lot of older strategy games like AoE

I remember first watching the two part videos explaining the node system and the vision of the game you wanted to create Steven. To see this finally coming to life is amazing, great job to everyone working on AOC. You all are creating a masterpiece of a game, with creating a masterpeice such as this comes patience. I love you're taking your time and not rushing anything out.
Patience is a not a skill, though a virtue. Not one we are meant to master, though practice. Every single day.
It would be cool if you could rank up within the node itself other than just mayor. You could have ranking officials in nodes that are dependent on quests, contribution, world events in area or resources gathered. Then the vendors could recognize you in the node as such rank and offer discounts or special items for those ranks.
You said don't get hyped and then disappointed i was hyped the whole stream and now even more hyped about the game than ever before
Question - Would the aesthetics of the buildings be defined by the % of the total races? Example 20% Vek, 60% Kaelar and 20% Pyrae and have some of each?
Or would only dominant race have the whole building aesthetics in a single node?
Dominant race at node leveling, if I remember the wiki correctly.

Still looking good, I'm glad Steven is going for a game he will enjoy, and building it for the community he wants. To many games now days try to appeal to everyone. Find your target audience and go for it.
Also, been so incredibly excited as a hardcore die hard MMORPG player begging for an amazing new mmo. I cannot wait I will need a week Vacation from work when it drops!

it's so nice seeing the npc's moving and doing their own thing... the npcs standing in 1 place forever really kills the mood of the immersion of the game, that's why skyrim did so well i think, is the fact all the npc's moved/slept etc
it will be cool the sea will be bigger and you need like 30 or more minutes to go other side of the sea.
and you chilling with the rain and big storm coming at you. that will be epic...... surly Steven have this in the doing list book.

Just love this. With the RTS aspect of when buildings build up, placement of certain buildings. Feels like a Civilization game, meets a Warcraft 3 game, meets a RPG.
In before Asmongold reacts to this, gets upset with a bunch of questions he has and doesn't bother to watch the discussion prior to this, but even then skips through most of it...
But anyways, this was an incredible livestream, couldn't be happier with what I saw!

adding small chance to get higher rarity resource from lower grade node would add a bit of fun minigame of chance (which improves the more skills you have in a specific gathering maybe) and helping with the monotony of gathering

An important thing I believe is NPC density. If u have small amounts of NPC in node or any big villages or cities. Then it would feel empty and boring. Not only cities but also outside, such as camps, roads etc.
I like the aesthetics of this village, it's has a Celtic or medieval feel to it. So for future node reference, you all should look back on history and do stuff like Roman empire architecture or Persian etc... U can have the surrounding environment decide the type too. Say for example , if it's a dessert then make it Egyptian or Persian. Again I cannot stress enough to put more NPC in the village, like more in the bazzar or market place. It just helps with immersion.
Also add a Colosseum to use for events/tournaments (doesn't need to be PvP related). Can be one big Colosseum for an entire region and another small arena for nodes, tht it's denizen can hold events for.
The big one is for multiple nodes, since it's a region.
Some of these may have alrdy been mention, but I can't remember.
Love the direction that the art is heading. Models, textures etc. Keep on going, looking forward to the rogue showcase, and ofc A2!

Y'all should do a series called Assets of Creation showing designers, artists, audio, etc. doing time-lapse asset creation! Always love the aesthetics and design choices.

Looks absolutely incredible. Some of the node management and buying and selling goes a little above my head at this point. But im sure we will learn. Cant wait to see the architecture of some of the other races! Fantastic job all round!
33:55 I was hoping that we will have freedom to build anything anywhere. But it looks more like how garrisons worked in WoW with the predefined plots. I hope this one will work better. My fear is that the nodes will be too similar / generic.
it won’t be bc of the node types and the style of a node depending on which race contributed the most to the development of a node. and nodes will have different looks depending on the location as well
I feel like it would also be nice to add some voice lines to the NPCs. Like the guys carrying the barrels would say "can you move? I don't have all day" or "Excuse you! Some people have got to work" when they bump into you. Basically give them an attitude which builds to their character (even though they are just NPCs). I believe Witcher 3 has done that and quite well also.
Is the 2,000,000 days actually correct 36:56 ? Because it wouldn't make much sense if you're implementing this system to ensure that mayors are constructing buildings that players want, but then allow the building to be under construction for an absurd amount of time.
Also, would it be practical for a single wealthy player to contribute all of the resources needed for continuing construction? Because that would also defeat the purpose.
Would it be a good idea to enforce a minimum amount of players that need to contribute resources to finalize the construction of a building?
My late friend was looking forward to this game. So I will be playing in his Honor

This is perfection. I wouldnt want this node to level up because its that good :). I did not like the visuals of cleric and mage skills but if you match them to look serious like in BDO and not like in LOL, it would be awesome. 😊
