I explain how protein deficiency develops and how you can remedy it.
Timestamps:
0:00 Protein deficiency can impair your health
1:45 I explain the reasons you need to consume protein
6:40 Here is why someone develops a protein deficiency
9:40 There’s an interesting product that’s 8 different amino acids, with no other ingredients
You may have a protein deficiency. Here are the symptoms, and I’ll discuss why you can become protein deficient.
First, here are the symptoms:
● Frequently sick
● Delayed healing
● Lack of muscle growth
● Poor recovery
● Weak connective tissue
● Bone loss
● Low neurotransmitters
● Low hormones
● Low enzymes
● Can’t detox
● Allergies and chemical sensitivities
● Poor sleep
These are the general symptoms; and, a deficiency isn’t always about not eating enough protein.
Why do you need to consume protein? Well, to get the amino acids which are the building blocks of protein. You need amino acids for muscle repair and as a precursor for neurotransmitters such as dopamine, serotonin, and adrenalin.
Amino acids also supply the material for biological proteins. I’ll explain. Proteins you consume that turn into body tissue go way beyond hair, nails, skin, and muscle. They include making the enzymes that help with digestion, detoxification, and hormones. And your DNA is made from protein.
The amount of protein from different food categories that actually gets turned into body tissue may surprise you. It can range from 6 percent to 49 percent. Protein stimulates insulin to some degree, but it also stimulates the opposing hormone glucagon. Eggs are at the top of the list. But the remainder of the percentage is wasted. I bet you didn’t realize that!
The primary reason you develop a protein deficiency is low stomach acid, a common condition with aging or eating poorly. I recommend taking apple cider vinegar or betaine hydrochloride. Other causes are inflammation, being an athlete, gut damage, having SIBO or insulin resistance, which keto and intermittent fasting will help reverse. Liver or kidney damage, gastric bypass, and heart damage also contribute.
I linked below to an interesting product that’s 8 different amino acids, with no other ingredients. In tablet form. I recommend it for any of the conditions I discussed. 99 percent of it turns into body tissue. The amino acids are the right ratios for maximum efficacy and absorb in 23 minutes.
If you have a protein deficiency, you can see how your health could be impaired.

Protein deficiency can really harm your health.
Great details doc! In my offices I find that patients often overlook absorbtion as a reason they become sick. Gut health should always be a primary focus in nutrition.

Probably from the protein intake.
That's funny ! I love the white board , he is such a good teacher.
Miko Mo I do like the white board too.
Stephen Bokolas I agree..! Love Dr. Berg..!
I find your videos so interesting,,thanks again for your time, you are so patient,,
A subscriber for about 2 weeks now.. Love the way you summarize the information on the white board, that really helps me digest the whole thing a lot better.
I actually find your channels very informative, easy to understand, that makes me keep coming back.

Plus they are short!
When I started OMAD, my fingernails suffered, weak and thin. Upped only my protein and rectified the issue completely.
What were your protein intake before/after?
Dexter Lacroy Before I started OMAD it was around 30%. After I went down to about 5-10% as I was following a Keto diet (just not strictly). I'm around 20% now and also feel satiated, something I hadn't realised wasn't right either.
@@gordyn5292 Thanks, Gordy for the info. But 5-10% protein is not Keto diet prescription. Isn't it around 25%?
TimeIdle It was early days for me, still had much to learn, still do! There were a few sources then, all quoting different figures and I literally watched every video. It's easier now because everyone is starting to read from the same page and it's all on UA-cam. There are still a few that recommend lower amounts. Newer and bigger research must be helping too.
I've been facing some hairloss since I've started OMAD. Have you been facing the same or did in the past? If so what are the possible solutions I should apply?
I’m 20 yrs old and Iv been dealing with gastro issues for about 10 yrs. I was diagnosed with gerd and after watching your videos I believe the majority of my issue is low stomach acid, along with sebo possibly as well!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge doc! It’s super interesting, but mostly it helps me remember WHY I’m doing what I’m doing. I send people to your channel on the regular. Blessings to you!
My nails tell me when I'm deficient, thin, translucent and they loose shape.
@Sven3xs I was animal protein intolerant for years, guess coupled with some gut issues which I have sorted, somehow. If I eat eggs consistently for a couple of days they start strengthening
Yes. Made it. Big fan Dr B your changing life for the better. But you already know that. 💡☝🏾🔥🤙🏾🙏🏾
You are a miracle worker, words can't express my gratitude for you and your wife's work, thank you so much
Brainwashed…
This could be life changing. Thank you.
I sometimes have the feeling that my body doesn't absorb the protein
Try eatin more protein ALONE - apart from carbohydrate sources, so that your body has enough resources to make enzymes for protein digestion. Also, give it time. If still not cleared, try HCL-betain AND protease enzymes with your protein meals. I had the same issues, and it took time for me to my body to start really breaking down and absorbing the proteins. HCL+protease enzymes helped a lot.
are you thin and muscular ?
Get digestive enzymes and also L Glutamine , try to eat protein with vegs and don't mix with carbs or do very low carb if you combine.
Very good video. I like these slightly longer, more in-depth videos. Thank you!

Very informative
Great and informative video! Thanks alot!
I Started IF after seeing these videos. I recently went through an emotionally painful divorce. Last year around December i was the heaviest I’ve ever been. 245 pounds. I’m 6’4” tall and everything told me i was fat. (Especially my clothes). I’m down to 196 pounds and feel healthy but i can’t gain muscle to save my life. I jump rope, can finally skip for 35 minutes straight without stopping but my calves are so small. I’’be just bought this supplement and will weigh in soon to see if it helps me build muscle mass. I also think i suffer from adrenal fatigue and cortisol issues but will wait on that supplement because these all get sooooo expensive. If these amino acids help my body feel stronger I’ll give the other stuff a try. Thank you to dr berg for having all this amazing information out there. I’m the healthiest I’ve been at 45 than ever, (i just want to build a little muscle because i look like a flag pole)
Try adding a collagen powder to your aminos ( at separate times of day). I've been collagen loading for a couple of months now and do feel a difference in my arms.

Lol. Ikr! I tried eating a half gallon of super fudge klondike moose tracks, nothing. So went back on keto after failed experiment.
😂😂😂
Thank you, Dr Berg.
Well explained doc
Nice and detailed information!
Just one add: There is no limit on how much protein we can absorb per meal. Studies actually found that people can equally well (if not better) absorb their proteins when comparing one meal with multiple meals per day.
actually, most studies I saw said that about 30-40g per meal are the maximum. Jeff Nippard made a video about it aswell.
Optimize with Science, can u post links or names of the studies? I’ve seen evidence in the other direction, but often do intermittent fasting & hope ur right😉
The few studies I saw were all young people taking whey protein shakes.
And that is the problem with any kind of food study, unless its a gubmint grant, or industry funded, hard to read past all the bs first. First must clarify "who funded study and for what reason?".
Mind-blowing, this is great stuff.
Thank you for great Content Dr.
Love it. Thanks!
Love your videos!! Can you do a video on Maca Root/Powder:)
Thank you Dr.E.Berg for this info.I really need more proteins now.God bless...
So grateful for this - I asked this question months ago because I donate plasma twice a week and strugle to keep my protein up to acceptable range and I'm pretty sure low digestive enzymes. Since I changed my diet it's getting better but I've been suspicious about enzyme and protein malabsorption. Haven't been tested but I started some amino acids recently. No improvement yet but I'll try this product next.

Question 🙋 Dr. Berg, My father has had a hard time recovering from surgery, twice he had a hernia removed these past 3months. He is 70yrs, has lived a healthy lifestyle by hiking, cycling, treadmill and diet too...but for the past 3months of recovery he has lost 17-20lbs of muscle mass, and is weak. Bravo! Great information! I’m 59 years old and so I’m definitely in an aging body. But I appreciate your explanations and I feel that with the information given that I do not have a problem . Except maybe the aging part! My body is definitely slowing down all the way around. However I know where I can get the eight AAA and I’m going to pay a little closer attention to what’s going on with my body and I will decide if I need it and I’m glad to know it’s there if need be. We sure do love you Dr. Berg 😍💖🥩🍗🍳

Question: what are your thoughts on the connection between eggs and chronic viral infections (i.e. EBV)?

I would really like to know the source (the research paper) showing this absorption rate for each of the food.
Hi Dr. Berg! Please do a video on protein waste, I'm really curious about that old myth of too much protein turns into glucose and creates ammonia!
If soy is so poorly absorbed as a protein, what effect has soy nutrition, that many babies had rather than breast milk, had on these children as adults in terms of hormones, body composition, and obesity?
A quick google search of natural medicine’s view on soy formula should give plenty of information. It’s said to impair hormone function body composition etc. often for life in many cases. This could explain the extremely high numbers of even very young men w low testosterone, compared to decades ago.
Soy is the worst thing you can give a baby. Might as well just feed them poison.
Hi Dr.Berg,
Does soaking nuts over nuts like walnuts and almonds then leave it in the room for a day or two to dry will lead the nuts to oxidizes,
Yup, when I first started keto 5 months ago, leg day lasted two weeks to recover from...holy man. Hate it when people think eating protein turns to chocolate cake and makes you fat and kicks you out of keto (pro tip, it doesn't).

This is information I needed, I will be ordering those amino acids. I had to laugh at first, I saw a space between the "f" and "t" and thought the first symptom was "sick of ten." I like 10. 8 is kind of a jerk but 10 is a good guy... lol!
Whoah! I just went to buy them, realized that is $35 for a 6 day supply, not a month. I just cannot afford $150 a month for supplements, I hope you will do another video giving advice on how to get those improvements with food.
Nope. I have followed Berg's channel / advice for about 2 years now and have enjoyed tremendous improvements in health. What he describes in this video is spot on for some of the issues I face. He is trying to make a living, I do not begrudge him that. I just cannot afford this. I said something because he DOES care and i will bet you he will make a video about getting amino acids in foods. Watch. Berg is like 10, a good guy... lol!
Where is the link/name of the 8 AminoAcids ?
The most common sense in any digestive issues of absorbing proteins and other nutrients dense is due to low stomach acid problem number one.
Are these ratios affected by how these foods are prepared? Raw, boiled, fried, grass fed etc.?
I have a question regarding muscle building and insulin response.
Isn't it actually desirable that your insulin is spiked when you try to build muscle? I use a whey isolate with zero carbs and I drop a spoonful of coconut oil into it for an after-workout drink. This in accordance with a sub 20g daily carb intake (most days probably less than 10g).
I know insulin tells you to "store", but isn't muscle building also a "store operation"?
yes you definitely need insulin to build muscle, but there are other hormones in play as well that i don't really understand
Great question.
Been there, done that. People, eat more protein. If you aren't doing 1.6g/kg of your own bodyweight and you are active, training, then you are most likely under-eating protein. No 0.8-1.2g/kg is NOT enough as per latest meta-review of protein intake study (2017), unless you are small, sedentary, young and you have perfect digestion and perfect protein source (complete protein, high protein assimilation score).
I have kidney disease and currently am trying to avoid proteins because of Creatinine in my blood. I am trying to figure out how much protein is safe for me to eat but I can't get professional advice. Are you able to recommend a safe amount of protein for kidney disrase patients?
Waasteeed! I love how he says that 😂
Can digestive enzymes help?
Where can I find these conversion percentages from protein types to tissue? I can't guess how they could have calculated this, since setting up the experimental conditions would've been easily inadequate.
Awesome, a real eye opener. Thanks
Or a dysbiosis (sibo is a symptom) in the gut
