2:58 the blue car in front of you doesn’t even let the kids cross. There’s no crossing, but it’s not the kids fault. They have to cross to get to the school.
The front number plate thing is an issue the Met traffic police want to crack down on but dont have resources. Apparently super car owners can opt for a stick on front number plate as a fixed one spoils the line of the car for the poor didums. They then “forget” to apply the front stick on plate. Police have threatened to report the cars they do stop to DVLA and have a Q plate assigned which destroys the cars value.
It's a hollow threat. Q plates are assigned to cars whose age or identity are unverifiable or unknown. Anyone who can afford a supercar can afford to sue the DVLA for not following their own rules and issuing a Q plate as a punishment that isn't provided for in law. That would be misconduct in a public office which is a criminal offence and which would fall on the shoulders of the individual at DVLA who took the action - no job, no civil service pension, and probably a moderately hefty jail sentence. The Court of Appeal has held that “save in exceptional circumstances, the gravity of [misconduct in public office] and the high public interest in deterrence means that it will attract a sentence of immediate custody”. As there are specific offences that may be charged with relation to failing to display a number plate the threat to inveigle DLVA in an extra-judicial scheme of punishment also leaves any police officer doing so open to charges of misconduct in public office. The police are there to enforce the law, not make up their own punishments and enact them.

2:10 that was a strange driver instructor car maneuver. Perhaps it’s just the instructor driving the car after work hours. Maybe to the store or somewhere. That would be an instant failure during your driver’s test. If it is a student behind the wheel…;we’ll, there’s your answer to all the bad drivers on the road. 😂😂😂
9:32 A bit like roadworks speed limits that don’t have average speed cameras, some people will just ignore them because they aren’t legally enforceable apparently. So it’s just a me me me approach unless they fear a sanction.
Road work speed limits ARE enforceable as long as the sign displaying the speed limit is the right size, circular, has a red edging, white background and black letters.
@@scienceexperimentsforhomee261 I realise it was unclear. Apparently “Keep clear” signs are a polite ask rather than a yellow box style you must not. And whilst of course speed limits are enforced the only way to be caught for one without the average speed cameras is to happen upon a police car in the roadworks which is vanishingly rare.
@Batters56 I think you're right. Road markings like yellow boxes, single and double yellow lines, and continuous central line all have a legal meaning and are enforceable by a fine. The Keep Clear sign is referred to in tbe Highway Code on p134 but I don't know if its legally enforceable.
At 8:16 I got into the fact that he hasn’t got a front number plate straight away but unfortunately the police don’t do much about number plate offences these days
That keep clear one reminds me. Near me outside a school there is keep clear. The reason is there is a light controlled crossing to the left as you come out, so the whole point is don't enter from the right and anyone wanting to leave the school (which also has a leisure facility there) can do so when the lights turn red. Or at least they can if no cyclists go through a red light. On Sunday, I'm passing from the right and the lights go red so I stop outside the keep clear. Two drivers emerging from a road on my right think I've left this space for them to get out and they ignore my protests, instead "thanking me" for letting them out while the lights are still red to block the keep clear. Might have it on camera...
I left a review with pictures on Shahs of Bolton detailing the driving manner on the date, time and place indicated. Hopefully they will take it on board. I didn't say where I'd seen it other than it was on YT. Truly unbelievable.
The first clip reminds me of a couple of things I saw from a driving instructor. I won't name the 3 letter name of the driving school, but our nickname for them is Bull S**t Method (you can probably guess what the name is). The first one was approaching a set of traffic lights, me in the right lane and driving school car in the left lane. The lights change to amber so we both slow down. As the light turns red I stop, and I see the instructor wave his hand telling the learner to go through the rred light. The other one was a driving instructor probably on his way to pick up a learner. Driving around a roundabout with his phone clamped to his right ear with his shoulder, left hand on the steering wheel and right hand holding an A to Z map.
@14:16 If you have Regenerative braking engaged with a rear mounted motor on an EV the backside can let go in certain conditions. When this happened to you however there was possibly some diesel on the roundabout which did not help matters. Nice gentle recovery though.
@@Batters56 Did you see the state of the road surface? The whole inside lane of the roundabout was shallow potholes filled with water. That's a tough surface for any tyre.

Try looking at Boris Johnson's record when he was Mayor. Remember "Boris Bikes"? Remember him instigating ULEZ? No, you don't because that would require admitting Sadiq Khan wasn't even Mayor when these issues started.
What's the difference? Sadiq Khan is current. Boris has gone. And I'm sure you will admit (unless you are a cyclist?🤔) that Sadiq really is a massive knob.
The first clip is worth submitting to fellow driving instructor, Ashley Neal, as well as the DVSA. I'm sure he will have plenty to say about the standard of driving.

11:49 it's technically an offence to display anything other than navigation information or information about the state of the car's systems (music playing etc.) on a phone screen. Flicking through WhatsApps or scrolling Facebork is illegal, even when the phone is in a cradle.
4:58 this is par for the course with an enormous city that has a road network largely unchanged since the 1920s M25 is called the London Orbital, but under the original plans (M20 J2A near Wrotham - present M25 J19A near Watford), it would just have been a bypass for long-distance traffic that had no business anywhere near London itself, and there would have been three orbital motorways inside the city that would have handled local traffic for political reasons, most of the inner motorways were never built, and the whole lot is now dumped onto M25, which, as a result does a shit job both as a bypass and as a ring road
The driving instructor in the first clip of Vol 338 is a certified driving instructor for Audi, BMW and Fiat 500 cars only. Their goal is to teach them how to preform simple actions in the worst way possible as well as teach them that rules don't apply to them.
DRIVING AND MOBILE PHONES: this was covered in Vol 317 and these were the two comments that answered Tony's question: From SHM5547: regarding phones in cradles, I believe there are three laws that apply: 1. Road Vehicles Construction & Use 1986 (amendment 2 2022) Regulation 110: the well known can't-use-it-if-hand-held, updated in 2022 so that 'using' doesn't just involve communicating, but also illuminating the screen or unlocking device etc. Just having it in you hand is still ok though (if you just moved it without illuminating the screen - bit dicey if you have 'raise to wake' enabled!). 2. Road Vehicle Construction & Use 1986 Regulation 109: this is not widely known, but this regulation makes it illegal to display on a 'cinematic screen' information that is not related to the vehicle, it's position on the road (e.g. reversing camera) or navigation. This applies whether mounted or not. So technically, it appears to be illegal to use a mounted phone for any other purpose. This even caught the police out, as their in-car ANPR system had to be redesigned as the driver was able to see ANPR information, which would have breached this law. 3. Road Traffic Act 1988 Section 3: your classic careless driving, where the offence occurs if the driving falls below the standard of a careful and competent driver. And my comment: MOBILE PHONE LAW: Road Vehicles (Construction & Use) Regulations 1986 - Regulation 110 creates the offence of using a device which is handheld. Reg.110 does not prescribe any restriction of how that device may be used when handsfree. HOWEVER, Regulation 109 does. I am hoping there is a Road Traffic Police Officer reading this who can check this fact, because not even the Black Belt Barrister was aware of this, until I wrote him a letter! Regulation 109 - firstly, the restriction on Cathode Ray Tubes (CRT) has now been superseded, the Reg. applies to all types of display screens. In paragraph 2 of Reg. 109, it sets out four criteria to decide whether a display screen is classified as a "television receiving apparatus". Can the screen (A) receive a television broadcast = A "smartphone" can receive a television broadcast via a data connection, I was watching BBC News 24 live on Monday on my "smartphone". Can the screen display a recording? A "smartphone" can, such as UA-cam or an MP4 video stored in memory. (C) view an image on from a camera? Yes a "smartphone" can do this and, (D) view an image from a computer? a "smartphone" is a PC which generates imagery. CONCLUSION - a "smartphone" meets all four Criteria, but it only needed to satisfy one! The END RESULT, if you have a smartphone in view in your car, you can only view 4 types of information - (1) Information on the status of the vehicle's EQUIPMENT (not music or other entertainment), (2) view information about the location where the vehicle is located (eg road temp./ altitude/ gradient), (3) view the proximity (reversing) cameras, or (4) view information for Navigation. If a driver is viewing absolutely anything else, THEY ARE COMMITTING AN OFFENCE. That includes music on Spotify, list of SMS text messages etc. SHM5547 mentions in paragraph 2 that even the Police were caught out, and here is the explanation of how they found out: @tanderson278 2 months ago I raised the issue of Regulation 109 and Smartphones with the Police in December 2018. Initially the Police replied saying Regulation 110 allows the driver to view a Smartphone when driving. A day or two later they changed their minds. I received a short email from the Police Officer stating "I agree, you are right!" What followed - Police Officers were issued with a waring stating that if they view the ANPR screens when driving, they would be committing an OFFENCE under Reg.109. In November 2020, a amendment (Vehicle Special Order VSO) was passed in Parliament, giving special dispensation to the Police, so that they could drive their Police cars legally.
ADIs get a standards check every four years, or more often if their pupils pass rates fall below a certain level. The standards check involves a 30 minute telephone interview and then an observation by an ADI examiner of an actual lesson of at least 45 minutes, 40 minutes of which should be actual driving, followed by a 15 minute debrief by the examiner.
Regarding that hideously ugly & flashy BMW sans number plate.I think the reason for it is twofold.Firstly a vain attempt to evade speed camera's ,and secondly to look gangsta innit bro!
@AndrewWhite-fu7bn it's illegal for any instructor or anyone supervising a learner to use a mobile phone even if they are not driving as they are classed as being in control of the car and they can equally get 6 points and a £200 fine.
@AndrewWhite-fu7bn something I found out just a few years ago. And a few years before that, I was gobsmacked at the number of people not wearing seat belts, esp a local motor factor business with lots of vans. They said they didn't need to as they were delivering. The law stipulates that as long as your drop-off points are within 50 m of each other (ie postmen in vans) you don't need to wear a seat belt. Taxi drivers don't need to - mainly for safety if they are attacked by their fare. You can remove seat belt if you are reversing.
Herein BC we have one of the four provinces that do require a front plate. 15:30. The owners usually cheat by having the plates painted to blend in in identical colours to the original. There is no cheating, as cop cars have it programmed into them to spot the miscreants!

Driving instructors are dire these days, i have been cut up by them at mini roundabouts, i have also had them pull out at junctions too close, i drive a Wav, wheelchair access vehicle and to have to suddenly brake is not good, but when it is a driving instructor it is not what you expect.
Good call Mr LDC. We all see this constantly, it gives credence for us to bemoan the state of drivers today, not all for sure but a lot. If a bad driver trains others those will be bad drivers too. Some authority needs to check this individual is good enough to train others or are they rogue?.
Doesn't make a difference whether your phone is in a cradle or mount. Still illegal unless you're parked in a safe place with the parking brake applied.
Not quite sure of what point that you're making here. Currently hands free use of a phone is legal but iis actually just as dangerous. If you are parked then what is most important is that your engine is turned off if you want to use your phone in hand.

I should put my dashcam on more often. 50mph road heading towards the A5, 2 horse and riders coming towards me. I seem them in the distance and slow to under 30mph and just let the car coast past them with no throttle the same as I always do with horses. But one waves for me to slowdown whilst moving towards the centre of the road. This road is wide enough for 4 lanes even though it's only two. Your opinion would have been interesting. I was just thinking they could not judge my vehicles speed and may have thought I was doing closer to 50mph, but the puzzling thing was why move to the centre of the road if they thought I was a danger to them?
@@scienceexperimentsforhomee261 True - but he will certainly be aware of how complaint can be raised. No argument here, pal. Some people shouldn't be on the road 🤔 smh. Peace ✌

3:58 he has a yield sign and totally ignores it. Probably taught by that driver’s instructor.

Truly unbelievable.
have you had any reply? I was born in Bolton!! Are you from around there?
3:15 If he also teaches drifting, count me in for some lessons. Not really, no.

@ytr8989
Absolutely👍
4:58 this is par for the course with an enormous city that has a road network largely unchanged since the 1920s
M25 is called the London Orbital, but under the original plans (M20 J2A near Wrotham - present M25 J19A near Watford), it would just have been a bypass for long-distance traffic that had no business anywhere near London itself, and there would have been three orbital motorways inside the city that would have handled local traffic
for political reasons, most of the inner motorways were never built, and the whole lot is now dumped onto M25, which, as a result does a shit job both as a bypass and as a ring road
The driving instructor in the first clip of Vol 338 is a certified driving instructor for Audi, BMW and Fiat 500 cars only.
Their goal is to teach them how to preform simple actions in the worst way possible as well as teach them that rules don't apply to them.
DRIVING AND MOBILE PHONES: this was covered in Vol 317 and these were the two comments that answered Tony's question:
From SHM5547:
regarding phones in cradles, I believe there are three laws that apply:
And my comment:
MOBILE PHONE LAW: Road Vehicles (Construction & Use) Regulations 1986 - Regulation 110 creates the offence of using a device which is handheld.
SHM5547 mentions in paragraph 2 that even the Police were caught out, and here is the explanation of how they found out:
@tanderson278 2 months ago
I raised the issue of Regulation 109 and Smartphones with the Police in December 2018. In November 2020, a amendment (Vehicle Special Order VSO) was passed in Parliament, giving special dispensation to the Police, so that they could drive their Police cars legally.
some driving instructions need retesting every 5 years one said to me today a mobility scooter, does not allow no pelican crossing
Did Ashley Neal cover the driving instructor clip? It would be worth sending it to him for comment.

@AndrewWhite-fu7bn it's illegal for any instructor or anyone supervising a learner to use a mobile phone even if they are not driving as they are classed as being in control of the car and they can equally get 6 points and a £200 fine.
@@scienceexperimentsforhomee261 Thank you, I thought as much.
