Not really much changed from u38 to u39, just some buffs to the way the % bonus works on Velothi and the Flame staff changes might add in a smidge more as well. Looks like the Ceiling moved up to about 132k DPS with this setup.

Hey Skinny, I would love to see a build using the Frost morph of Tentacle as your crux spender instead of Beam for a more traditional roration (eg. Old Warden rotation with 3s Scorch). I'm not seeing anyone do videos for this so I think it would help a lot of people interested in the new class, but no so much in what beaming entails. It would be great to see if it's actually competitive.
@@MashMalloman I did a bunch of testing with it. Only seems good if you want to go with a non-beam build. Otherwise you just lose out from less time beaming (less skill slots too cause you need Runeblades to build)
@@skinnycheeks Is it viable at all for those interested in not using Beam. Skill slots would still cost 2, more of a focus on traditional dots and spammable, with Tentacle as the spender. Like if Beam build is 128k, can that do 100k + still? Just curious. Edit: I see what you're saying about using Frost Tentacle and Rune Blades in a Beam setup not being worth it, but I'm thinking of those 2 without Beam.

Watched through it fully now, reacted too early earlier. Nice job on the guide! I'm really looking forward on trying this class. I think atm it's very middle of the pack but still very versatile looking at it being good ST and AoE.. It fits my 'set and forget' attitude very well haha.

Time for a new weapon line for the next big update after Nercom. I really want spear/halberd. Also while we're at it more Dwemer lore.
Spell Crafting. Way more variety and they have the tools to do it. It's also way more manageable given the fact that they don't need to make 100s of weapon motifs to catch up to the existing roster. Visual and sound effects are already in the game. Standards for skill types, cost, damage, and named buffs/debuffs are already present. It's just a matter of forming it all together like Glyph making and attaching it to a discovery system like Mythics for Scrying/Excavating.
I think it's much more likely as much as I'd love a new weapon type, the only weapon type that seems viable is 1h + magic since 1hs already exist, magic in your off hand would behave similarily to how 1h + shield works. You get different weapon passives and skill access, just make a few visual fx for the magic and you're gucci.
I won't spoil it for you but the over arching plot was leaked for the main antagonist and definitely doesn't involve dwarves.

great vid with lots of good info here, iv always struggled with sustain on stamina builds and much prefer magicka builds and heavy attack builds long b4 they actually became a thing lol, lots here i can use to adapt to a mag build and will have to look for that Ansuul set which i knew nothing about, cheers for the vid skinny its much appreciated
I know the laser is their main way to access damage but I am hopeful that a laserless build will be discovered down the road. I prefer higher apm styles but I am glad characters like this exist too. Mainly for some friends of mine who needed a class like this to come out.
Yeah I may do a non-beam build at some point. The other tentacle morph is good for that route
That morph says it converts to a mag ability, so does that mean it scales with mag even if stam is higher?

played a tiny bit arcanist on pts too, its pretty simple as soon as you get the hang out of it.
So getting good DPS seemed veeeery easy, third parse was already at 118k with Blue Food....
I like the class, it something fresh for sure... However i feel like comparing to other classes its almost a bit too simple to do the amount of damage.
I mean the time it takes you to get similar results on other classes, with LA weaving and considering a lot in your rotation, for example nightblade burst window on incap / bow proc and general rotation.
It almost feels a bit too simple and newer players might end up giving up on other classes, if arcanist is so much simpler to do damage on...
(build crux + monitor a few dots and just beam away...)
I kinda see where ZOS is going here, but balancing wise not sure about it... will see in the next patches...
Never the less, looking forward to play arcanist on different Roles for sure :-)

Thanks for the build! Currently using the 1 bar version w Deadly and Pillar. I’m only Champ Rank 400 so I’m hitting for like 83k, so I’m sure the levels along the way will help.
Im using the same thing, but seem to only be hitting 61k for some reason. Champion rank 562. Probably a skill issue on my part lol. Or maybe it’s the traits on my weapons.
@@Z48654 your weapon traits should be charged and Nirnhobed with fire and poison enchants. The weapon with higher base damage should go in offhand for the passive that provides extra damage. Also, are you light attack weaving between attacks?
@@The_Paledrake yeah I’m using an axe that’s charged, but I think the problem is I don’t have nirnhoned researched on any weapon (too expensive). I’m also using a mace as my off hand with a powered trait on it (bad trait I know). They’re deadly strike weapons so the traits were randomized. I wanted the daggers but they’re expensive. And yes I’m light weaving.
@@Z48654 there’s your problem. Daggers receive a crit passive that your other weapons do not. If you’re on a one bar, you can use pillar of Nirn daggers which are far easier to acquire, and swap out two pieces of deadly on body for Nirn.
@@The_Paledrake yeah that’s what i did and got 64k dps (haven’t got weaving and recasting aoe’s down yet). Now my penetration is only at 5k, which I heard it’s supposed to be at least 7k. Definitely an improvement though since it got my crit rate above 50%.

I don't know if I'll like using a channeled skill so often, but it might be a pleasant surprise. Quick question: did you or Ry compare how other backbar weapons, like 2h, fare in terms of damage? Thanks! 2h is comparable for dmg for sure. I just like the big size of the aoe for wall and it makes stam sustain a breeze. I actually preferred 2h when I was testing magicka. But both work for sure

I suspect that because of the crux generation, if you were great at managing the 3 and 5 second timers of inspired scholarship and cruxweaver together, and had something damaging you and something healing you while parsing, cruxweaver would be the highest dps option in that flex spot for anywhere (including the trial dummy) you take consistent enough damage to pull 4 or more crux from it and spend all 4. 4 crux is worth either 5.28 seconds of beam beam tooltip for pragmatic, or 6.6 seconds for exhausting fatecarver. That makes the damage potential of the skill via the crux generation somewhere between 4-7 spammables worth of damage for a single gcd. At 3 crux generated and spent from the skill, its going to be on that low end of 4, and with flawless use it would be around or a little over 7. So it may be worth it even at 3 generated and spent as the strongest dots in the game only approach what, 2.5x the damage of a spammable without a set that boosts them wildly?
This can be tested on a dummy possibly using a healer companion and the plants that damage you when you are near them. If you are in combat with the dummy, they will generate crux for you.
yeah I was thinking a bit about cruxweaver in that manner. I agree it could be nice for DPS. maybe I'll test some out down the road.

Possibly it is because with the mythic necklace you annul the weaving. Something that should have happened a long time ago, the weaving is horrendous.
I'm still farming out the Coral Riptide set and haven't tried it but due to how I've set up my deadly/pillar I think it'll go well.
I'm using daggers but have 64 in Mag, flail and deadly cloak use up my stam enough and recovery keeps me able to get crux with flail and use cloak, but I always have a full mag bar for beams

using the beam i was still able to keep 98-100% uptime on releby using a 3 skill + ultimate setup
I love your content and thank you for the effort and time you put into your videos! I am a console player so living vicariously through you with this new chapter. How viable is a bow only Arcanist? My plan is same skills as you suggested. Deadly front bar and jewels, pillar body (maybe replace with ansuul once I get it?), velothi once I get it it, slimecraw, maelstrom bow back bar. Do you know how much of a dps loss should I expect with bow only build?
I'd swap that and do pillar as the bow but it should be able to do very well! maybe 6-8% loss or so. Still capable of very high results.

Made my first CP Arcanist today (Wanted to close out a specific story loop) got him to fight Mannimarco and get CP just before reaching him got to mock Mannimarco himself by teleporting twice as much as he does and then teleporting over his portal as he gets carried off into the sky!
Now I have a CP Arcanist Argonian with 60 unspent skill points and 1303 CP to rebuild so that he can do the second half to fight the god of schemes...

Might be a dumb question. But i play mainly solo, i have the ring of the pale order right now. Would you still suggest the velothi mythic over rotpo for soloing? Just curious on the survivability before i start farming for the velothi mythic basically. Great video as usual though. Much appreciated

You def can! Stam sustain is a little bit harder but not too bad. And the dmg is good! Problem is just maelstrom 2h doesn’t really add nearly as much to stampede as maelstrom staff does to wall.

I’ve been away for a while and just came back recently. What’s the reason for the destruction staff on a stamina build? Is the fire maelstrom staff really that much better than a stamina based weapon?

Is there a difference using lightning staff vs daggers? You get the 10 percent damage increase to aoe🤷♂️. I figure carver and tentacles are aoe.

Hi I have some questions for you about the alternative setup with only 3 trial gear:
-is it mendatory to have deadly strike on back bar ? If not maybe a monster set and 4 pieces backbar cculd be better don't you think ?...
-....but what monster set if that the case ?
-what about the vateshran inferno staff main bar ? it lasts longer (15 sec) and has a true dps purpose. I don't know if worth loosing the dual wield passives

"If not maybe a monster set and 4 pieces backbar cculd be better don't you think ?" you'd have to lose brp dual wield to do this way. for the 2nd part, I'm not a big fan, it doesn't really do a lot of damage. also, it is only 10s, not 15. So you have to cast a skill every 10s that is a 30s skill. I wish they'd change the bonus to last the full duration of ele susceptibility
Soulshine might be a good set to use. Increases Weapon and Spell damage for 5s on every channeled skill cast.

What do you think of the High elfs passive that gives 5% dmg MIT while channeling? Think it would be worth using even on stam arcanist. Lose some dmg but gain some survivability. Is the trade off worth it?
High elf is fine for stam dps too cause of their 258 wpn/spl dmg
For leveling what should I use for weapons? I haven't been able to find out what exactly is the best setup for skills on the bar too. Lots of differing opinions but no real this is the best way, most skills to level. I have never done a stamina build so any help would be great. TY.

But im a little confused about the champion points. U "just" mention the 4 slotabells (im german, right spelling?, sry dont know). What about the others? What add on makes your timers inside you skill bathroom bigger mine are super tiny?
With the new changes to Bow and Daggers. Do you think Bow would be a better choice than daggers when it comes to the Oaken version of the build?
Whats that Bar that Ticks down? It looks like a GCDcounter but better. And it slows down while beaming.
Does all the armor pieces have to be medium? Cause my highest DPS right now is only 87k with the one bar build. I feel like I'm missing something

1-2 DDs and one tank for most sanity’s edge groups on PTS.
Thanks for giving us a light attack alternative for Oakensoul builds. It was really becoming a heavy attack build only item.
yeah it works well with Arcanist cause you don't give up that AoE. Other classes seem to have to build either ST or AoE when doing an oakensoul build, if they aren't doing a heavy attack build.

The weight is light on the slimecraw
So deadly and nirn works together, correct? How much dmg output does it do?
You just miss the minor slayer bonus you’d get from a trial set. But could still probably get 120k+ with it on the dummy with a great performance.
Would deadly/pillar/zaan be any good for a full 2 bar rotation until I can get the amulet? I also hate coral management so if pillar would be viable I’ll do that

Skinny, how has this build changed some U39? I dont have maelstrom perfected flame but I do have perfected lightning staff. Is this viable?
How do the Maelstrom staff & the new mythic amulet work together? Are the light attacks -99% but then you get 1353 from MA or is it light attack + 1353 and then - 99%, so almost nothing? XD
Maelstrom staff doesn’t add damage to light attacks
is the "easy to get early" set; the one with deadly and pillar of nirn, is it viable to use it with all mag enchants and put attributes into mag?
Yes all of this works for mag or stamina
