I did that on my hummer h3 2008 it was easier putting it in almost sideways then once in used a small pocket flat screw driver to adjust it. With the tapered end facing away from the transmission pin. Went in pretty easy left the whole cable on the hummer just crawled under and did it. Got out kept shifting gears from reverse drive 1 2 park then again to make sure it was shifting right.
Thanks for showing this removal of the bushing. This is the new problem I am having to face. How to get the old bushing out to put the new one in. You seem to be having a hard time with it on a work bench. Now I know, with it still on the car, the end of the cable having no slack to bring it down and the catalytic converter in the way, my thoughts of "this is going to be hard to do while it's on the car" is going to be fact.
