  • Easy repair.
    The nylon bushing the holds the cable to the shift lever had a limited life and when it fails your either stuck in park or in a gear, so for twelve dollars and about 10 mins you can save yourself a lot of money with with how-to/DIY video.
    If your not able to get to the auto parts store, some zip-ties can help you get your rig home.
    Doorman part# 14055
    Thanks to hummerfourms for the part number!

    This happened to me today. It broke in the R position and took me a couple of seconds to realize I was beginning to creep backwards. Set the E brake, chocked it and went under, put it in drive and went & picked up the part all in 20 minutes of watching your video. Thanks for the help! I subbed as the least I can do for a "THANK YOU". Have a wonderful day all!!!!

    Michael thank you, I'm on my third Hummer I love the truck but this seems to be something that Hummers suffer with my second Hummer I owned had the same issue happen. My third Hummer that I currently own guess what it has happened again LOL I've never known how to fix the issue the first time it happened to me the tow truck driver knew just what it was he got under and repaired it unfortunately I didn't watch him do it and now just last week it happened again with my current Hummer this time I called my mechanic he hopped under and did it in 5 minutes if it ever happens again I know just how to fix it thanks again

    Great video and a life saver. Question: I've made the connection and now I have a new issue. I can now put the vehicle in gear but when I try to put it back in park the shifter is loose again and I have to get back under the truck using my hand to manually put it back in park. After I do this the shifter will once again allow me to put it in gear but won't retract the gear back to park it simply remains loose and eventually locks itself in park. I figure it has to be something simple I'm just not aware of what it is yet. If you have a solution your help would be greatly appreciated thanks👍😎👌

    • @MichaelEd
      @MichaelEd  3 роки тому +1

      If your shifter came loose due to the linkage connector as show in the video, and you installed a new properly with the transmission in the same position as your shifter (for instance: shifter lever is in the park position and your transmission is in park) everything should work as it should. Unless you didn’t get the linkage connector installed properly. That shifter should snap into the connector bushing and not come back off. Check your bushing and shifter to ensure that it is installed properly and that the shifter can not pop but off.
      I know my kit came with two different size bushings. Once the shifter with the correct bushing is press on the transmission selection lever it should not be able to pop off under normal use. It takes a good bit of effort to get it to come off.
