Fact: Ron Dante sang lead on Jingle Jangle. I met him during the Don Kirshner Rock Awards taping in Philadelphia and said "I know one Archies song you didn't sing, Jingle Jangle!". He said "Actually I did", then counted off and sang it with a falsetto vocal dead on, no mistake. I was speechless, I was in awe and embarrassed at the same time. We went on to discuss other musical things at that point. What a day.

Mr. Kim seem so humble. Here is a man who dreamed it and his dream became reality that blew his mind.

Thank you for this interview. Andy is always so honest and genuine . His story of meeting Jeff Barry wouldn't happen today.

Joe, I appreicate you asking Kim if he had any insight into who the musicians were that played on Changes. :) Great job bringing it back around for a 2nd attempt.

Andy's version of "Baby I Love You" is one of my favorite Jeff Barry productions. Such a great record. Leaps from the speakers.

And this is a great interview! Lots of inspiration and Andy's take on the value of art and how he reached his dreams are some of the best statements on the subjects that I've heard.

This was an interesting interview. I did not think I would like this but I was very wrong. Wishing Andy, JR and all others the best of luck.

Very cool guy! Great to hear some of his long life story! Thanks for putting this together and giving to us!
the only thing I'd take issue with is the idea that they didn't write their own songs. That is obviously not at all true. Plus, personally---and I've said this from the beginning when I first heard them as each album came out back in the day----always liked THEIR songs, songs that they wrote themselves, to be the far more interesting and creative. And they brought the group into full authentic/full-blown realization what a band should and could be in that era: a fully contained creative unit. (Not to take away from the other songs too much, but it WAS the era of singe/soungwriter/musicianship. )

Bubble gum rock was a style of rock that emerged in the mid-1960s of which The Monkees,Andy Jim,Boyce and Hart,Neil Diamond were chief representatives of.

Was shocked to see a clip of an interview with Kirshner where he declares ‘’Sugar, Sugar’’ was offered to the Monkees which was definitely not so! He was either delusional, bullshitting or just plain lying. Great to hear Kim refute this, hopefully once and for all.
