Talk about making something shine when most of us would have pitch that mess. Be proud of who you are and no matter how long people do taxidermy, you can always pick something up. Been doing deer head myself since 1982 and never stop learning. I have a full time job and only do a few deer heads a year. Just started the salting, picking and liquid tan recently. I likethe way they look. I never attempted a save like that but you did it on camera and You got it down pat and better then most in my area of Ohio. Also glad to see you are a man of God. Don't have enough these days. God bless you and thanks again. Would love to stop by sometime and meet you in person and see your shop first hand. Keep up your awesome videos. I have them saved in there own title. Would love to know more about references pictures which ones on whitetail work for you.
Dr. Danielstein!😂 Couldn't tell if you used a baseball stitch or a whip stitch. I used a whip stitch a few times on cut briskets that really helps the hide lay down with no humps. May or may not help on the thinner areas, but you asked to share tips. May be useful to someone out there. Great work as usual!
GOOD JOB, Would of been tossed if it was a job for me. New cape for sure. I hate stitching so I know where I would of been there. I do several of those mounts a year, I always like the finished results. I think you did a great job with what you had to work with. Earl
Looks pretty good tho. I have an antelope that was split down the back of the neck and up the throat! Not to mention the bullet holes and slices! Figure its a good piece to get mad at. Luckily only personal project to mess around with before doing mountain goats
Dan enjoyed your video. Can you make a number video on this buck until it is really to give back to customer live so we see the completed process of this deer. Such a good subject. Thanks so much for sharing. Billy
Man I would but it's already finished. All I had to do different than any other was airbrush the throat patch and I hand painted a place about 4 inches long that the hair did not overlap enough. There was plenty to cover the stitches, but there was a dark line I had to add a little blonde to
Do you ever do deer with the ears facing forward? It looks like every one has them back and every video so far of you mounting one you do them going back, so I was just wondering.
Yes I do occasionally. Right now it’s kind of considered an “old school look” sort of like having a wooden plaque on the back. I like to give the client the option, and rarely do they request ears forward unless it is a straight alert mount
I airbrushed it on with createx water based transparent. It sticks really well compared to polytranspar and it cures similar to latex. I've tried bleaching but I can't get a white out of it. Just blonde
Dude that takes skills you are one of the best taxidermy guys I have ever seen.
Hahaha thank you

Thanks a lot for the kind words and I really appreciate you watching!
God has given you a great talent
Looked like you used a baseball stitch from the backside. I'll remember that.
Pretty amazing!

Hahaha! I used a baseball stitch, but very close to the edges and very close together stitches.

Thank you! Not what I would want to do every day, but the challenge is fun every once in a while
Looks great but I wish you’d have shown how you airbrushed the throat patch;
Yeah I have no idea why I didn't lol! I have to do throat patches fairly often on spare capes. I'll make a video on it

I had a buck split like that last year. All the way to the shoulder blades and all the way to the bottom jaw. It took a minute lol!

@@thecedarridgechronicles I second this idea do u think u could do it on the next deer u do?
Sure will! I'm sure I'll end up with another one like it eventually
Thanks Daniel, enjoyed the video. Such great work, he turned out great. Thanks
Absolutely my friend! Thanks for the business and I'm glad I could get him together like we talked about!
Great job!
Thank you!

@@thecedarridgechronicles oh okay
How did you make the second white throat patch? Did you bleach it? Paint doesn’t stick to hair for me.
