I just wanna say I have been watching your channel for quite some time now and I'm actually going to do a apprenticeship with a taxidermist very soon and you definitely make me inspired to do this cause it is amazing on how you can turn a hide and some Antlers into a masterpiece I'm definitely excited to be doing taxidermy very soon and thank you for these videos
Awesome video! Just getting into taxidermy as a hobby and like you said- I'm tired of paying for it lol. Lookin for to a video on fleshing and tanning...that's where I'm most intimidated!
I need to do some videos on that in detail. The best thing to do however, is go to a local taxidermist and watch first hand, even if you have to pay. It is nearly impossible to show on video the fleshing process in full, and takes a "feel" to do. Also, kill you a doe and save the cape to practice on. This helps tremendously, and you can throw it away when you are done with it, n and it don't matter if you mess it up. The ears are the trickiest part, but I will try and do some videos soon and explain some other aspects of the process! Thanks and good luck!
There are small medium and large whitetail ear liners and I keep some of all 3 on hand. Every deer is definitely different and I like to be able to dry fit sizes until I find what fits.
Man, that's awesome. Glad I subscribed
This is my #1 go to channel now.
JW Elwood student, thank you for sharing.
Good video. I enjoyed watching your technique.
Awesome tip!! I hate using ear liners but I'll give this method a go on the next fallow I mount

Skife knife must have, Amazon
A little pricey but the the mini flesher is a great tool, in combo with a pressure washer.
So it's common practice to leave cartilage in place? It doesn't go bad, rot/smell? And thanks for your videos, very informative!
You can leave it when using bondo. It will not rot, but the ear does have to be turned and fleshed then tanned or dry preserved
Great trick! Is that hide paste you used on the ear liner?
Yes it is. I use Buckeye supreme hide paste.
@@thecedarridgechronicles thanks! I like how you simplify things, thanks for sharing your ideas
Are all ear liners the same size or do you have to get a particular size? Thanks
