My mother died from Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA) and I thank you for bringing awareness to this disease. It is difficult to lose someone to dementia, but when you add in the loss of communication, it is more devastating.
Thank you for explaining this disease. Bruce Willis is such a favorite actor of mine and it’s nice to have an honest explanation of what he maybe going through.
My mom has this and it's horrible it's so horrible. Her neurologist actually said unfortunately you don't have dementia right now so it's harder but once you have dementia it'll be easier. And it just breaks my heart. She's also lost her ability to get up and walk by herself and the other day she just yelled out I miss my freedom. I have to remind myself as a caregiver as hard as it is for me I can't imagine being in her shoes. God bless him.
My lovely friend of 48 years developed aphasia over the past 3 years. She started off being confused and not being able to construct sentences like word salad. Now 3 years later she does not recognise me and is not allowed to drive and is about to go into a home. My heart breaks for her and her lovely daughters.
Thank You for this explanation of aphasia. My mother had been diagnosed with AD. She later suffered aphasia after she had a stroke. You confirm what I suspected, Mom could understand what I said to her but she couldn't think of all the words to respond. :(
I have this also. I believe this was one of the side effects on statin meds. I had an MRI on my brain and they told me it was a normal brain. No strokes, no dementia, etc. I'm very curious if Bruce Willis is or was on any statin meds? When I can't talk properly, it also difficult for reading, writing, speaking, thinking. Now, when I'm anxious; I can't talk properly and I will spell out the words that I can't say.. :( I feel sad for him; but I understand so much the battle he is going through.
Thank you, Sherzai Docs! Brain health is such an important topic. Your efforts at education and prevention can help so many people. I had lots of head trauma as a youth playing football. In the 1960s in high school we had head on tackling drills at every practice ....running at full speed and hitting directly with the top of the head. Now I know to take care of my brain. Thankfully no dementia....100% whole food plant diet for nine years and mostly plants for fifty years! I loved your book.
Very informative! Just heard you today on the Food Revolution Summit today! Most interested in your presentations …lost my husband to vascular dementia last year.. keep up the excellent job of educating the public! Thank you!
Great video and well presented. I had an stroke (aneurysm) back in 1982, so I found your conversation very interesting, especially the left and right usage. I do some things left handed and other things right handed (I write with my left hand though). Anyway I watch your videos primarily for the diet information and inspiration (I am, now, about 85 percent vegan). My question is, I came across this thing I have not seen on a label before and I wanted to know your opinion of it. It gave a measure of POLYOLS in the product. How dangerous are they? Are they something to be watchful of? Thank you for your channel too. Oh, yes, I bought your book, The 30 Day Alzheimer's Solution and loved it. Well done there, too.
Wow, this is an incredibly helpful explanation of this pathology. Thank you, Drs. Sherzai, for taking the time to bring us this info. I wonder if the quality of one's food can affect aphasia? Also, if one has done recreational drugs? I guess what I am asking is if our lifestyle choices can affect the outcomes of aphasia and can they be preventive?
Hi Dean and Ayesha, Could you make a video about salt? We always hear that we should reduce our consumption of salt but I heard that salt is also very important for our neurons. It would be great to know your opinion about this topic. Thank you

SLP here. My best guess along with many colleagues was PPA. Thanks so much for the deep dive😎
It’s good to see you both. I love your channel and recipes
