A good review from when I learned Ark. Trav. in your 'intermediate' list. And just now realized that I had also been doing a slur on the first three notes of measure 12 as well as the first three notes of measure 16 all along. . All my E string slurs seem okay too.

Back when I first learned it was to play a really fast fiddle tune like on Curley Fox recordings with very few slurs but very fast and hard driving which is attention grabbing but my good friend Mark Lewis is a professional fiddle player and now I understand the importance how slurs can smooth out and make the sound of the tune even more impressive. I have gone back to continue my classical violin training..I never played a tune with no slurs but with some but I realize how the sound is so much more pleasing to the ear and even more impressive as a fast hoedown at a dance..Thank you for the vid on the importance of the slurs

Thank you. I initially got a bit confused though, as I'm used to think of "slur" as meaning "portamento".

The swing also sounds nice with the slurs! I'll be sure to watch your video on swing next :D

If I write music for a fiddler, without using slurs. Could that result with the performer playing notes sounding short and isolated from each other (unlike the example which you showed in this video)?

    Wait… but what exactly is a slur?😊
