  • This video features the Alley used in the movie for the classic meeting scene between King Willie (Calvin Lockhart) and LAPD Lieutenant, Mike Harrigan (Danny Glover). Where this head of the Jamaican Voodoo Posse ends up losing his to the skull collecting City Hunter (Kevin Peter Hall).
    I visit filming locations from some of my all-time favorite movies. Sometimes it’s more of a thrill to find the unlisted movie shot areas like this one.

      Excellent - thanks for that. Apart from the King Wille alley (which I have not found yet) the most interesting place I have found was the tunnel exit where the spaceship was hidden. Its the outlet of the Belmont Tunnel - an old electric railway tunnel which comes out at 1304 West 2nd Street LA. They built an apartment block in front of the exit but if you walk up the laneway to the left of the building - the bricked up tunnel exit is clearly visible thru the fence at the back of the apartment block. I took a bunch of photos. It was really interesting to stand there looking at the exit. My next locations to visit will be the cemetery and the shoot out scene from the start of the movie - I look forward to more locations soon !!

      Winston St (the site of the opening battle scene ) does not seem the the sort of area that you feel too safe walking around in. Don't mean to be nasty, but its a bad area of downtown. Same for the location where the silver helicopter lands. Anyway, its interesting to see where it all happened. With a little bit of detective work I found Kink Willie's alley. The rock wall at the end is unmistakeable.
      Will go see the cemetery next weekend

      Hollywood Dreams You are correct in that assessment. I read you loud and clear, and you didn’t come off nasty at all. That’s life in downtown LA. Every time I’m in town I do my walk around the downtown area, being the movie buff that I am ha... I’m also a pretty big guy who can handle himself. Skid Row is not to be taken lightly. Proceed w caution.. In the market district as well

    Inside the Predator ship at the end where the mortal combat between Harrigan and the Predator takes place has got to be the most atmospheric space ship in film history. It's chock full o ambience with the steam and it seems made of Earth materials like the inside of a craggy cave. I love the movie but i also love how they portrayed King Willie in the movie as a tough bad gang boss and he got killed in a split second by that Predator alien without even fighting at all , kinda the same scene with Billy ( Sonny Landham ) in Predator 1 movie was kinda lamme to see him die that easy .
    Anyway Predator 1&2 are the best of the franchise the rest doesn't even exist ( Predators with Adrian Brody is just a remake but badly executed it had too many clichés and stereotypes and The Predator was über sh*t it made predator having new gadgets à la James Bond which is nonsense as the charachters none of them were loveable . As for Alien vs. Predator only the first movie is watchable and is more of an hommage from both franchise whereas the second movie Requiem was a disaster as you couldn't see sh*t whats going on )

    • @NickP
      @NickP  Рік тому

      I pretty much agree with you. I think that brief moment in Predator immediately following Billy’s death is pretty cool. It’s a very tense pause of fear and impending doom. It’s also bad ass how Billy decided to have a face off with alien.
      I hear what you’re saying about Predators. However, it does have some redeeming qualities. I give it a watch from time to time. Now, The Predator lol omg what in any world was that??? Has to be the worst big budget movie ever made, arguably the worst movie period.
      I envoy watching AvP once in a while. Scar is pretty bad ass. It has an original story and was pretty well made. What I don’t like is how easily two blooded yautjas were taken out by a single xenomorph. Further more, they look fake, like they were on steroids or something. Cheaply made wardrobe.
      AvP2 is a real shame. It has a great idea with Wolf, the ultimate Predator. However, the setting, to the characters, to the story, to the lighting lol all sub par.
      Part 1 and 2 are good movies, especially the original.
